Ocean Beach for 10/10 and or 10/11

The season is coming to an end at Ocean Beach (losing the light and consistent winds) - this coming weekend has 3 good elements - descent winds (15-20mph), so far maybe good temps (69-67 degrees) - and incredible tide times (2:45 on Friday and 3:18 on Saturday) - this all equals two stellar 5 to 6 hour sessions each - not to be passed up. The only thing I don't know about are crowds - Friday is the better day for this reason alone. Last Saturday I went down and got in about an hour and a half because of late evening low tides (not worth running, even with bigfoots during high tide - sand becomes like mud) - I also had to contend with large amounts of people because of a sand sculpting competition at the North end of the beach. This weekend looks to be worlds better. Any takers?

I just saw a major weather advisory for the area - a push of cold is coming down from Canada with a lot of force - winds will be gusty starting Thursday through Saturday - up to 40mph - and will be creating the Northern trajectory that started appearing on forecasts yesterday. So it looks like a no go - possibly Sunday - will keep up weather conditions focusing on Sunday. - Ocean Beach is great for land boarding - just make sure to check the low tide times - high tide will leave you frustrated in sticky moist sand.

Might try and get along if the conditions look good

Christened my shiny new Purple Beamer 2.0 there a couple of weeks ago (9/28) but didnt see much Kite activity. Saw One Buggy and a couple of Foils up but not anyone who seemed to be from this site. Got a nod from the guy on the buggy but that was it.

There was some sort of Brazillian beach party on the go which meant a lot of the carpark was gated off which was a pain.

I would strongly suggest for anyone thinking about going down to Ocean Beach this weekend to use extreme caution - there has been a RED FLAG ADVISORY put into place over the next 3 days - gusts as high as 55mph are expected - nothing to toy with. I am still posting the weather conditions to see how they change as the weather system approaches.

Friday: 20-25 NW 65 degrees
Saturday: 15-20 N 66 degrees
Sunday: 10-15 NE 68 degrees

Key word here is gusty - these are bumpy thumpy winds - not to be toyed with. Saturday afternoon the gustiness may be calming - but there are no guarantees at this time if it will be safe clean winds.

Friday: 20-25 NNW 64 degrees
Saturday: 15-20 NNW 67 degrees
Sunday: 10-15 NE 68 degrees
