Any input on various boards?

I'm a noob to ATB and wanted to get some opinions on the boards available from DicS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K-s Sporting Goods (I found a 20% off 1 item coupon on-line). Here is the list below or you can see them at the link. I just want something that I can cruise on and eventually work on getting some air.

Boards at DicS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K-s

Chump All-Terrain Mountainboard
MBS Core 90 Complete Mountainboard
MBS Comp 95 Mountainboard
MBS Core 95 Mountainboard
MBS Comp 90 Mountainboard
MBS Comp 95X Mountainboard
MBS Atom 95X Mountainboard

Thanks in advance.

I'd recommend this:

http://www.powerkiteforum.com/viewthread.php?tid=7468

or this:

http://www.powerkiteforum.com/viewthread.php?tid=7502

Both are really great deals. From DicS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K-s I guess I'd recommend the Comp 90. I almost bought that board but went with the Pro 6 instead.

What is your budget? You have boards ranging from $200 to $450 dollars on there.

If I had the cash when it hit the forum, I would have bought the Ground Industries Patrol 106... but I settled on another GI board. From what I hear, they are great, I can hardly wait to get my hands on it.

They arent cheap, but when you get your hands on it... you'll understand why. The bag will come in handy, too.

Just make sure you get one rated for your weight, and what you eventually want to do with it. The 106 on our forum would work well for kiting, and I weigh 190 lbs... already done the research on that one. It would be fine for me.

Thx for all the input. Those two for sale look like great deals. I'm at least a few weeks (paydays) out before any purchases else I would go for them as well. I'm only 155lbs so I think most boards would be ok (minus any sub 100lbs). I'm also trying to run it by the wife and see if she'll go for it as an x-mas gift if I don't get one before that.

Yea-I'm in Austin-I'm joined the yahoo group--which is what pointed me to this forum. I haven't been able to make it out to Old Settler's or Zilker yet, just a park by my house (the old Mueller Airport and at some school out in Taylor-- which is where I work) doing some static flys. I just bought some gate skates off ebay and am waiting for them to come in.

Man--just looked at the forecast for tomorrow-definately looks good after work. I got a Beamer III 3M about a month ago, and that's all I've got for now-but definately trying to shift my budget to get some more. Where do you usually go?

For land, usually Zilker Park... for water usually Lake Plugerville. Zilker will be closed soon for Trail of Lights, and will stay closed until June next year. Tryin to scope out new spots around... There is Old Settlers in Round Rock... been there once, will do when Zilker is closed, but its a haul up there.

Keep an eye out for burritobandits posts... he lives here, too. centex_buggier also... hes more of a buggier and likes OSP a lot.

I work until around 3... I might be able to get some of that wind... but it looks like I may miss it, too.

email me if you want... we'll have to get out sometime. dylanj423@yahoo

When I first started (not too long ago), I wasn't sure if I'm going to like Kite Landboarding. My objective was to get in as little money as possible so I got a cheap MBS Element ($100) from craigslist.com which I ended up selling it for $80.

I learned kiteboarding on this board and fell in love with the sport so ended up buying a MBS Comp 16 then a MBS Comp 95 (again both used). I like the MBX Comp 16 because of the wider board and the nice snowboard like bindings. Now, I prefer the MBS COMP 95 because it's lighter and better binding straps.

So if money is no object, then buy a new one $400 - 600. But if have time and patience, then you can pick one up for 150 to 300 depending on the make and model. There's a MBS PRO 90 for sale right now for $280 in the for sale section. That's the board I would have picked up if I was in the market for one right now.

Kite Landboarding Gear:
Pansh... Yeah it\'s cheap but I\'m happy with it!.

Pansh Blue and Yellow Ace 2.5M
Pansh Black and Red Ace 3.5M
Pansh Black and Red Ace 5M
MBS Comp 16 ---- (SOLD)
MBS Comp 95 ---- (I love this board)

Alright--Christmas came and went and I'm still without a board, but I do have a little more cash now.

I'm debating on splurging and getting the MBS Pro 90 for ~$550 new...or saving some money and going for the MBS Comp 90 for ~$300 new... Or stashing a couple hundred and just keeping my eye out for a good deal used and for the time being--jumping on a good deal for a depower kite...

What would you do?

do a search here on the forum for a used "conflict 106" board from Ground Industries... if the guy still has it for sale, it is probably awesome. I have the Flight lite 100, and it is pretty great. If its been for sale for a while, he may negotiate on the price, too.

You can email me if you want, we can get together and you can check it out.

The Comp 90 was my first and still my only board. Can't go wrong with this one as an entry level ride.
I like the ratchet bindings although they tend to click themselves closed when the board is flipped requiring you to ratchet them open while trying to keep your kite steady. I fixed this by putting some rubber bands on the straps as a "travel limiter" of sorts.
I have experienced some high speed wobble at times. This has been mostly corrected by tightening the truck bolts.
The board is light and has a good bit of spring which helps with freestyle type riding.
I am in the market for a second board. I will probably get something different - not because I don't like the Comp 90, but just to try another ride.
Regardless, just get something and start riding!
