Low life SOB!
Well some time during the end of my work day yesterday and bout 630 last nigh my tools were stolen out of my van. My tool bag and drill, all gone.
About $1200 worth of stuff that whoever stole, has no use for. Its all specialty tools for my job. Nothing you can use to work on your cars with.
I didnt notice it till I got to my stop today and had no tools to work with.

awwwwwwwww Man... I am so sorry. Could it possibly be covered under your vehicle
insurance? Technically it was stolen out of your van so maybe? Keep an eye out on your local craigslist for it man. THAT SUCKS! :o

Well its the van belongs to the company I work for so Ill have to see what happens with that.
I checked a few pawn shops in the area I think it happend and no luck. I dont think they will show up there anyway. These arent tool you could use for
anything other than what I do. They are specialty tools and can only be purchased from like 2 companies in the US.
Once they look the tools over and see that they have no idea what the stuff is, I have a feeling they will just toss it all.
The police have already been involved because I had some state and federal papers in the bag that in the wrong hands can cause alot of damage.

Bummer ... that sucks.
I don't know if all insurance companies are the same, but when I had stuff stolen out of my truck I had to claim that with my homeowners. I was told
your car insurance only covers what is attached to the vehicle.

Sucks for sure. I lost a laptop and camera within a window of about 90 minutes right outside my house. Dumb thing it the dog was barking but we were
ignoring her.
Worse yet? A good friend of mine who works all over the place as a jobsite coordinator had his big clothing bag stolen out of his truck - just
clothes.....and his swiss bank account (hidden from his wife) $5000 cash.
Mine was covered under house insurance and didn't affect our premiums.

Start checking pawnshops, ebay and craigslist. There is an off-chance you'll find them.

It doesn't matter where the vehicle was, it can still fall under the homeowners umbrella.

I was responding to what Eli was saying about the dog. I cant drive around with a dog in the van all day...haha.
But about the insurance thing, my job is taking care of it. I got a call from my boss saying that he is already on top of it
The van is not registered to me so I dont even know if my homeowners would take care of it. My home owners did take care of it the start of this year
when I had camera gear stolen out of my driveway

Note to self: Lock car doors when driving through Norfolk, VA.
I don't even lock my front door most days. I can't imagine having thieves roaming about.
It's great that your boss is stepping up. There are few feelings worse than being stolen from. I remember reading something in "The Kite Runner"
about theft being the worse crime because all crimes are a form of theft (i.e. murder is the theft of someone's life).

Its not super bad around here honestly but I wouldnt leave my front door open here
When my camera gear was stolen they got the good stuuf I just got home from
shooting a wedding and had to pee really bad. I popped the hatch (I drive a stationwagon), grabbed 3 bags and went in. Tossed em in the living room
and went to the bathroom. Went back out and all my lighting gear was gone along with the other camera bag. Luckily that camera bag had the "cheap"
backup stuff in it. Still cost my insurance alittle over $8k to replace.
Someone must have seen me pull up because I was even backed into my driveway with the garage door open and all lights on.

yeah ,I'm the one who lives in "Bad News ,Va" . You can't leave anything unlocked around here. So I got 3 dogs for an alarm and firearms for their
ass. Sorry bout the tools Jason, they won't know what to call half of them ,to tell the crackman what it is ,or how much it's worth. But I would
still check pawn shops in area( maybe call some and report that these tools may be circulating , maybe they could call cops if seen)
Are they etched? always etch your tools!!! Does the van say what you do on the outside it? They may be in the know after all(your special tools
are costly I know) . I work w/ electricians everyday and they got more special tools that do one thing . pin pullers , this crimper ,that crimper
,on and on. And they say they are expensive!
" They just crossed a thin black line" sorry , had to say it!

I hate thieves - lowest forms of anything on the planet - I feel for you - I had my car ransaked earlier in the year - they cleaned out the middle
console, got two packs of smokes, a hodgepodge of pens, my mp3 player (cheapo), and some coookies - the saving grace of it was they didn't bother
touching my kites or the harness I had piled in the back seat - my worst fear was that they would steal the kites for the backpacks and dump the kites
in the trash. Luckily, and most importantly it showed that fellow kiters aren't thieves - because who else would use these things?
