Eject system for Peter Lynn and Arc kites

I got this off a Guerilla video - worked incredibly well for my 13m venom.

There was a discussion some time ago on the arcusers forum where they were discussing which was best...safety to front or back lines. If I remember correctly, I think the majority of the comments were leaning towards the front lines.

AJ, why do you prefer the front lines?

I have that on mine, had to use it today testing my 11m S-ARC, it was fully powered up, when fully depowered (rear lines need leaders) and it gusted. GREAT system to depower the kite, kills your session when you wind up with spagetti tho

thats a 04 bar and kite before the scorpion where designed to safety on the front lines, but the scrop and syn were designed for rear line safety as they have the bridal system instead of just pigtails.

i rigged all mine that way. without too much research really seemed the only way to go. way to much whip in a rear lines set up.
a rotor harness hook would be nice, the leash twist an mainline twist get me concerned if i don't do the other side to untwist
even 2-3 twist and the shut down is unencumbered, but should be twisted you never know.

a roto leash thing or spin hook harness thing i have never seen or used but would like a thread if any one knows more and has pics

I may have been the one that brought it up on arcusers after my brand new 15m Syn got 2 feet of rips to repair after landing it. It was the first time ever since 1999 flying kites (since 2001 on Arc) that I ripped a kite from landing it. It was the most major repair ever for me too. I was pissed. Apparently there is way too much spinning tension with the combo of the bridle, the stiffer kite and rear safety and the kite power spun (almost as hard as a crash from the power zone) into the beach even though it was flat. I never experienced anything close to this with a front safety.

The reason they went to a rear safety was for safety. As mentioned, the front lines twist up and when this happens the front safety will not function properly. I have always used a front safety with my Arc's but with a swivel so I could periodically manually untwist them without unhooking. No big deal for me and I have never had to release in a full on oh #@%$#! situation.

That said, I modded my zero7 bar to a front safety with swivel. Even the Syns behave better with the safety rigged on the front.

I had to dump the Guerilla this afternoon and it all functioned flawlessly. I'm set up just like in that vid clip - the leash attached to a spinning chickenloop ring. The nice thing about 'em is that it's rare that you HAVE to bail out.

Is there any system PL could make that keeps the bar from flying ALL the way up to the kite? It really only needs to travel a little bit more than the length of the kite to let it flag out all the way, could I put on a stopper ball?

Yes the stopper ball will work but I find that i will spend more time undoing tangles with it so i go without it. I had the 10m venom out yesterday in 20-35 mph wind and tore it up!:wee:.......................aj

I was thinking of the same thing - the only problem would be possible damage to the lines - any thoughts on this?

Damm dude! sweet riding yesterday here but no wind today! Just got back from driving the beaches on the Boliver Penn.> This is ground zero for Hurricane IKE. Nothing but trash and wrecked homes as far as one can see. I did find a nice long board back in the salt marsh. Some damage but will work. Found 2 nice skim boards, a inflatable corona bottle and a lot of fishing takle. Not bad for a no wind sunday. I have the kitecat on the roof of the truck but no wind to test it with......................aj

the stopper ball fouled mine ad spund to the ground over 7 years ago! haven't used a stopper ball since. the bar only slides up as far as the stopper ball was anyway--about the length of the kite.
