Mood: They're ALL good ideas. Right up until they become BAD ideas.

Peter Lynn Care & Maintenance

Buying on the used market is a good way to see the differences between care and attention the kites have been treated to throughout their life to date. I've got two PLs with minty zippers and two with some dried out looking zips. One of those two has a functioning but not ideally smooth zipping action. Is there a way to lube the zippers to help prolong their life? The waxy covering bit is all dried up beyond repair but hopefully the zip will last. Any suggestions? Can the zippers be replaced when the time arises?

I put a zipper into my S-ARC, so yes you could replace the zipper, but you will need to cut open a section of the TE and sew it back together to do so

silicone spray, very, very little.

needs to be super clean

also the powdery sand here is very bad when wet in the zip channel.

wet, the zips work fine,..... but wet with sand can destroy the zipper plastics,

i have compressed the zip rear action when the zip fails to close AND lockwith a tiny tweak with pliers ( the part that closes the zipper teeth together) lube with spray and all good again. worth repeating ..a tiny tweak with pliers

the salt has the dust effect when dry but limitedeffect on macro mechanics and not a real concern ...

basic rule i made up as i went along the zippered journey

OPEN AND CLOSE SANDY AND WET ...ONE TOO MANY YOU WILL REGRET

CLOSE CLEAN EVERY TIME WITHOUT A FRET AND THEY WILL NEVER FAIL .... SURE BET

Maybe sticking it in hot water and then working it clean would do the trick ?
