Flexifoil Buggy Seat Mods ??

Anyone do any mods to the back rest of a flexi bug ? More of a question of has anyone modded the straps for the back rest. I feel the straps that attach to the side of the seat and go up to the back rest should be longer.

I just picked up a used buggy and the straps were placed incorrectly. The straps for the back rest did not go over the frame and the back rest would not stand up on its own. So I took the side rails apart and put the straps on correctly (as the directions suggest). SO now the back rest sits up all nice like it suppose to, but its not as comfortable as before. With the back rest in its proper position it makes you sit up more forward in the buggy ... thus loosing leg room. I'm only 5'9 and with the down tube in its longest position my legs still have a big bend in them. But when the seat was back my legs were almost straight ... the way I like them.

Is it just me or what ??

for the longest time i thought the large seat strap/belt (at top rear of seat) was a seat belt, to be used when jumping, and left it clipped/hanging behind the seat since i don't jump.

That is just a strengthening of your original seat. The buckle replacement doesn't change the way the seat attaches at all. I'm in the process of making a backrest for my buggy. My prototype looks and works great. I'm going to make one more change and then I'll post pics of the uncovered and complete deal. It is nice to have something to lean back against for comfort/leverage/support. I'll help anyone with the method and sources if they want one.

BB-
the adjustable back rest is the part that I want. The strap that attaches to the back rest is adjustable instead of fixed like the original seat.

The support it provides is good enough for what I will be using this buggy for, but those straps need to be longer to allow me to sit further back in the buggy for more leg comfort. The only thing I worry about is I might be back too far and throw off the geometry. I will have to figure out if I might not be better off getting the extended down tube instead of the seat mod.

I'm using the same brackets shown in the link above but my tube is one piece and bent with smooth curves at the top. I put the same padding on it but it slips over the tube without cutting a slit in it. I also have covers that kitemaker4 made for me for the backrest and siderail pads I installed. I'll get it completely finished the week after thanksgiving, and will post pics then.
