I'm heading to Idaho late december to mid january and plan on doing some snowkiting. I have talk to a few people but was wondering if anyone on here lived in the boise area and would be willing to take me under there "foil".

here you go.

I am here in Boise. But.. ... I am new. Daxifus was the one that gave me my first Beamer 3m just 2 weeks ago. Where you from?

The man with the plan here in Boise is Eddy. I have talked to him and he'll hook you up.
You can find him here. (always)
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/snowkiteidaho/

f0rgiv3n also knows him and he lives in the Boise area too.

If you are coming there isn' t any snow in the flats and Bogus (ski resort) only has an inch or so.

f0rgiv3n just kited with Eddy about a week or so ago here at the cv fields I think.

Hey dude :P. I would also agree to chat with Eddy. He's the man with all the kites and the "ring leader" of the boise kiting crew. I'm new to snowkiting this year so It'll be my first time. But the place we fly we call "camas valley" it's up in between fairfield and Mountain Home. About a 1.5 hour drive from Boise. I'd like to head out there with ya when you show up! Keep us updated on the dates ;). WooohooO! Now all we need is some snow....

http://hb.511.idaho.gov/cameras/Pine_Turnoff.html

(that's the cam of where we go as you can see there's NO snow yet)

Looks like the snow shall begin this weekend :wee:

EFFECTIVE AS OF: 121600DEC08

..WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY EVENING THROUGH SATURDAY AFTERNOON...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BOISE HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WATCH...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY EVENING THROUGH SATURDAY AFTERNOON...FOR BAKER COUNTY IN SOUTHEAST OREGON...AND THE WEST CENTRAL AND BOISE MOUNTAINS...CAMAS PRAIRIE...AND SOUTHERN TWIN FALLS COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST IDAHO. THE MAIN WEATHER IMPACTS ARE EXPECTED TO BE SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW.

A STRONG WINTER STORM SYSTEM WILL MOVE INTO THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST FRIDAY...AND BEGIN TO SPREAD PRECIPITATION INTO OUR AREA FRIDAY AFTERNOON. INITIALLY...RAIN AND SNOW SHOWERS WILL MOVE INTO BAKER COUNTY OREGON. IN THE EVENING...THESE SHOWERS WILL MOVE INTO THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS OF SOUTHWEST IDAHO. WINDS WILL GUST AT OR ABOVE 30 MPH FOR MUCH OF FRIDAY NIGHT AND SATURDAY. AS THE COLDER AIR MOVES IN BEHIND A COLD FRONT THAT WILL PASS THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT...THE SNOW WILL BECOME MUCH LIGHTER AND EASILY BLOWN AROUND.
THEREFORE...BLOWING SNOW IS LIKELY WITH THIS SYSTEM.

SNOWFALL TOTALS WILL RANGE FROM 2 TO 6 INCHES BELOW 5000 FEET AND FROM 6 TO 12 INCHES ABOVE 5000 FEET IN BAKER COUNTY OREGON...FROM 10 TO 20 INCHES IN THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS OF THE WEST CENTRAL AND BOISE MOUNTAINS...AND FROM 4 TO 10 INCHES ON THE CAMAS PRAIRIE AND IN SOUTHERN TWIN FALLS COUNTY. BLOWING OF SNOW MAY RESULT IN DRIFTS UP TO 3 FEET DEEP ABOVE 7000 FEET IN ELEVATION IN THE WEST CENTRAL AND BOISE MOUNTAINS.

A WINTER STORM WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT SNOW...SLEET...OR ICE ACCUMULATIONS THAT MAY IMPACT TRAVEL.
CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS.:wee::wee::wee::wee::wee::wee::wee::wee::wee::spin:

So.... Boise got a nice round o' snow last night and I was able to go out today and get in my first ever snow session ;). It was FREAKIN awesome! It took me a second to figure out how to launch while strapped in, and there's a few things like making sure I strap in the board before sinching down the harness (for reduced movement reasons). Then once I got going I could get back to where I started and even a bit more upwind ;D. It was awesome! I'm thinkin' camas valley might have gotten some good snow too. i think the Idaho snow season just got the kicS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K-off that it needed!!! :D Weee!! here's the snowkite 2010!!

I noticed that the camra got a nice view of a car today. It also got a good shot of the ground now that seems to be more like the valley that I remmber. Only a few more days now till I leave. I did go outtoday and fly my 3.5 a little but it was only like 5-10 mph so nothing strong. It was cold though about 35 but with wind chill it was bbelow freezing. cant wait to break out the board and 14 meter though. I am super stoked for this vacation to start. I'm positive that most of the guys at work are tired of hearing me talk about all the fun im going to have.:wee:
