So I took a look at the stats of kite and on the pics of it and came to conclusion that the kites are identical! They just have outlaw open celled and with FDS.

Be interesting to hear how the depower is on these things...I haven't been too impressed with the open cell depowerable kites I've flown so far...

but then again, this is a flysurfer and I'm used to the depower on the Venom's and Pulses...

According to the technical data on the flysurfer web site, the depower effect is 1.8 same as the Pulse2.

the fact it's an open cell, it should have a bit more power per sqm compared to the Pulse2, so this may affect the high end a bit too.

But have not tried, so I can't really say

I flew FS Outlaws all day today while snowkiting in upstate New York (8 & 12m). Had the most success with the 8m, but then again, this was my first time doing snowkiting, and my first real session using any kind of depower. LeeBrianH flew it for a little bit, and might be able to give you a better comparison of how it flies vs the Pulse (since he has a couple of those himself). I have no point of comparison, unfortunately. As a kite to learn with, it was a beast that launched me into the air, more because I didnt know how to reverse travel of direction than anything else. Had a lot of fun with it, and I'm really looking forward to flying it again.

Can you tell me where about in New York State you manage to snowkiting? Thanks.

agreed. I found a review that I think was on the flexiforum that compared the two kites.

supposedly the outlaw is a little bit faster turning and has slightly more pull. but I think they also said the pulse 2 had better stability.

I agree though the kite profile looks near identical. I can't imagine buying a new open cell when I can buy the identical closed cell version used for the same price...

I have actually met a few people who thought closed cell foils were for water only though so I guess maybe it is marketed towards that crowd.

I am quite sure Pulse will be more stable then outlow due to its internal pressure! Also ironically I think that it is cheaper to make closed cell foil then open cell as you just need two air intakes compared to 15 or so in open celled which would result in more sewing job.

Thus, the price of pulse 2 then seems to be over priced considering the cheapness of outlaw. Although they did have to spend time on the R & D for pulse originally but not for outlaw. Maybe that will explain the price difference.

I think a closed cell kite requires more sewing and is more complicated to do the sewing especially for the inside. the pulse has blow out valves, and may be some more details???

for snowkiting, I'd buy a used Pulse2 before a brand new outlaw for the same price.

IMO closed cells are mote stable, behave better in lulls and gust

advantage for an open cell are packing down, and probably less pull when landed on 5th line or brake lines

for self launching, a closed cell inflates slower thus making hot launch easier

I love the graphics and colors of the Outlaw but I am sticking with my Pulse 2, it's just so easy to fly. Plus, I have had enough practice with packing the closed cell kite that I can do it comfortably.

Had fun with Outlaws, thanks to Ragden. Indeed, Outlaw feels and flies like Pulse2. No open value on Outlaw but same ring line as Pulse2. FDS comes with it, which we used many many times and worked like a charm every time.

I couldn't find anything I don't like about the kite except a hole in depower bar seems to be a bit small but soon, I forgot all about it.

The Pulse is $500 more for the same size kite over the Outlaw. The thing with the Outlaw is the Back stall line, which I can't see the pulse having. If it is designed more for land thats what I'm after. Tough decision.

I don't really know about the backstall feature on the Outlaw, but All FS kites can back stall easily, just grab the steering lines and pull them in (same as pulling in the depower bar, only pulling it much farther.. In lighter winds or for temporary landings I do that with all my kites.

You are correct. I pull in the yellow strap and then pull the bar in completely which "back stalls" the kite and kite lands on the trailing edge.
