I have one. It has good points and bad.

On the good side is the price ! It's built super tough and will last. Water proof! It comes with all sorts of different mounting set-ups. It has sound pick up.

On the bad side. You can't actually see or play back ( on demand ) what you are recording.. It lacks any decent image stabalization. The frame rate is slow at it's fastest so the video has this odd trippy feel to it. The sound is awful in the wind!

For what it cost and the crap you can put it through I'm happy with mine. If you want quality footage , this will not be what you want.

This is a classic case of " you get what you pay for " !

P.S.

I have found that helmet footage is pretty boring. It showed me that I really don't look at my kite much. Other ways work better. Shooting from the kite looks cool and this little guy is well suited for that job!

Could you tape over the microphone pick-up to block out the wind?

hey kitedog,

I bought one last winter and only used it twice. I dont really use it, so if you want it, I'd let go it for 50$us, including a 2GB card, little manual, RCA and USB cables, straps, etc.. I guess shipping would be around 10$.

I paid 110$ + 43$ for shipping. Got f... on shipping, took 3+ weeks to get.

This is the best bang for the buck I found. The GoPro Wide camera. All the motorsports guys are using them. 2GB SD card (not included) gives you an hour. And it comes in a waterproof case
But, No screen or playback like the others. Guess that's what keeps them cheap.
I took onboard motorcycle roadracing video at the track and underwater at the pool when I got it and looks great. Mic has Hi/Low/Off.
Paid $150 on sale for the Motorsports Wide kit. They give you all sorts of mounting hardware.
Up until a few months ago, you could only order online, but I'm starting to see them for sale in the local Auto/Motorcycle shops here.
Check out the windsurfer videos on the GoPro site...

Hey Screwy
If you are serious about a pov1. I have some more temptation for you. How does 30%off sound?

I wish I could but the exchange up here and the shipping still make it to expensive for now.
