Naish 2009 SLE Control Bar on a Phantom
so I just picked up one of these off of ebay and I think it should make a nice bar for the phantom 12m.
has anybody had a chance to try it out yet. this will be my first below the bar sheeting setup.
let me know what you think.

First off, I use an Ocean Rodeo chickenloop and it has a below the bar trimmer. I love it. Its just so much easier to get at. I've always used it
above and it just is more of a pain. I still use above-the-bar for my North kite/bar.
Do you just have the bar or lines as well? I'm not sure, but are the lines [if you got them] in a three line/y -setup? If so, this will
not work because the arc's sides are too close together and with any speed it will collapse on itself. So as long as there are
[atleast... (5th line to flag out is ok.)] four lines from the bar to the kite you will be fine.
Looking at the picture, it does look like there are 4-lines and the safety is onto the front, all should be fine. I believe this bar also has
configurable through lenghts. You'll definitely enjoy that with you PeterLynn. I have a two and a half foot throw on my PL and love it!

great! good to know! yeah if I love it enough I may decide to convert my flysurfers to this setup next summer.
I haven't actually gotten the bar yet but from what I can tell it is a 4 line bar with a front line safety it is standard for all naish 2009 Cult and
Helix kites. the bar comes with 20m lines and this particular bar has an adjustable length as well so you can adjust from a 19"-21" bar within a
couple minutes of messing with it. I'm guessing I'll probably set it and forget it but I thought it was a neat feature for someone who shares one bar
on multiple kites.

I share multiple bars and line config. with all my kites
the below the bar trim is nice but when i had it ...it was easy to let out but difficult to pull in on the go always ended up stopping to adjust.
generally left if alone.
custom rear line leaders makes better trim strap location but won't work so great on kites that need more throw
PL power trim straps have alot of range
i run about 2ft of throw on the bar/main line and trim for stall at the bottom or unhooked full, lately i have been trimming for no stall for max.
range .... if you add stall all the way in you lost some depower range. your full power will be mid bar and depower has been shortened.
my v13 requires LESS throw than may 16, on a higher AR kite may be less.
i have a few naish bars for 5TH LINE C-kite set ups
i like the PL 60 cm the grip is larger diameter
I HAVE AN TaKOON BAR 63CM carbon very light with ss center line ring. this old set up came with great set of lines very durable
a big bar seems to give quicker turns, i never liked the short bar that came with V13.
nice to mix and match with ease... something always breaks and you have instant backup

Naish smartloop
So, i have also been looking at these smartloops, And i did come across a thread somewhere talking about that swivel and the slotted tube that the
lines run through and apparently the line can get hung up in that slotted tube ( where the pink line is. ) Apparently Naish has changed the design
and would probably upgrade that part for you. Just something i read as im not an expert but since it deals with safety, then you should check it
out and call naish about that part. it has been upgraded due to failing to depower the kite appropriately. Apparently everone loves that bar and
smartloop though.
ON A SEPERATE note, ive been thinking of changing out the chicken loop on by flysurfer kites with this chickenloop as it seems more like the
infinity, and you can buy the chickenloop kit alone from naish, and I think it could be set up to work with a 4 line pulse 2 fls depower system and
the old pulse bar. So tell us what yo think about that once you get the new bar.

Thanks for the heads up about the safety. do you know if that was a problem on the 08 bar only or has it been an issue on the 2009 naish bars as well?
I will let you guys know how I like the bar once I get ahold of one. I really dislike the flysurfer chickenloop. its hard enough for me to reassemble
it in my house sitting on my couch. it is virtually impossible to do in the water especially since there is no way to hook in while reassembling the
loop. meaning you have to hope the kite doesn't hot launch on you in the process of reassembling that loop. maybe I'm doing it wrong but so far this
has been my experience.

Naish smartloop
So here is a link to the thread about the smartlo0op, it looks just like yours, and when you get to the bottom of the thread it looks like naish is
upgrading that swivel. \

Keep us informed on how this works out for you and when you get it if you can tell me how well it might work with a pulse 12. Thanks. I have the
same problem reloading the flysurfer chickenloop in the water. Ive heard some people talk about hooking in temporarily to the "pocket" int the
front of the loop. Also, you can wind your FLS or FDS line around the back of the bar to keep the kite flagged out while rigging, but this is
also extremely difficult. Maybe we just need to learn to ride unhooked back to the beach?. Same reason though im looking at a different
chickenloop.

hmm that's very intersting. well it looks like a really easy fix so I'm not too worried about it. when I get the bar I'll check to see what swivel it
has and if its the rev 1 swivel then I'll contact naish to see if they will email me the replacement part.
I'll let you know how it works on the phantom once I get it. I'm planning on trying it on my psycho 3 13m eventually as well. if I like it I'm gonna
get a 2nd bar for the p3.
Thanks!

well I got the bar in the mail today, haven't had a chance to try it out but HOLY CRAP this bar is NICE!
it puts all foil kite bars I've ever seen to shame. the smartloop has to be the easiest most fool proof system I have ever seen. the bar grip feels
amazing and it looks like my bar has come with the updated swivel so there is no problems there.
btw I should mention this bar looks like it is fully 5th line compatible. I may try to get another one of these to use on my psycho 3. I wish they
made a longer version that I could use on the arrow as well. oh well....
I'll let you guys know how it works out on the phantom once I have a chance to try it out.
