Kite Magazine?

Are there any kiting magazines in print form? I like the on line stuff, but I really enjoy reading a good mag with lots of cool info, ads and pics when I'm not near or have access to a computer. Anyone know of anything current or in the works? All of my other hobbies all have print mags and they're about as obscure as kiting.

I Personally Love "Powerkite" Magazine it's from UK they mainly focus with kiting on land,,, Landboarding, Buggy,Snow kiting , traction etc etc . All other Kiting Magzines i see in print focus on Kite Surfing/Boarding......"PowerKite" is a little pricey cause it comes from UK I pay 9.99 plus tax...I drive a 1/2 hour every month to two months to get it. Of all the Barnes and Noble, only that one near me carries the magazine and i think it's because there's Kite Surfers in the Area.

Like DG said, there are lots of kite mags but most are water focused. I got "The Kiteboarder" last year because they had an offer for a subscription and DVD that I wanted for $40 so the mag was basically free. I like it okay, but it is almost 100% water based and really isn't all that interesting. Its printed in high quality and I like looking at the pictures, but I don't know if I'll renew. Plus its free online for download a month after it comes out.

Maybe I'll look for "Powerkite" magazine. Honestly I'm surprised that there is enough interest in kite mags for B&N to carry them at all.

Thanks for the info guys, I'll try to get Powerkite Mag also. I just want something to read in my hands. I'm not much for staying on the computer long enough to read. Let's keep a look out. Maybe something local will turn up or start soon. Holla if you find something new.

Thanks tractROB! Great and very thorough info you provoded. I'll look into those. Too bad there's not more in the US at a reasonable subscription rate for land kiters. Maybe one will appear soon as the sport build in the US.

To follow up, I asked the manager of a local Books -a-Million if they could order Power Kite Magazine. He seemed to think he could ask their magazine supplier for 6 copies (if they can get it) as sort of a starter pack to see if there is any interest. This is how they get new mag titles all the time he said. If they sell, they will stock them. I live inland in South Carolina and we're trying to get a club growing but unless I buy all of them, they probably won't sell. You guys on the coast might be able to do the same with your local book stores. If they come in, I might buy most/all of them and sell them for what I paid to the few I know who do or want to kite. I'll see what happens and holla if it works out. Anybody got 100K laying around and want to start a US Land Kite Mag? I used to produce a TV show for local Fox for about a year and have been selling advertising for 10 years. :bigok:. Show me da money!!

I'll take one of those magazines if they get them in. Which store was it, and I'll watch for it, or pick it up for me. Oh, and put me down for 20 grand on the magazine. Does that buy me editorial input? :embarrased:

BeamerBob, For 20K, you get to be in charge of the crash test dummies for new product reviews! Me? I'm in charge of managing the female models...

The Books -a-Million I deal with is in the Aiken Mall. I'll keep up with them and see what happens. You might ask the one in Augusta to do the same thing.

80 more K to go fellas!! Lets have a big kite yard sale!! :D
