hottest venom ride yet

jonesing to hit the water

went out today @ tower ...holy howling conditions batman

13m venom up about 3;30pm... after deep consideration( just pump the 6m) Vuck it! I'm not going back to the truck.

after an hour of an incredible beating ..some holy smoke speed runs and a half dozen controlled jumps WOW! but very selective with the gusting...anyway

somewhere along the way just holding a line out to the buoy a gust picks me up after a huge speed run felt like the board wasn't even touching the water ...i go up and must have been carried 100yds the height seemed pointless as the speed i was travelling had me very concerned ...had no idea how to manage the board to land it just ripped away as i touched down but the smack down ..the hardest licked i have ever had ...held on to the rig thanlfully,, gusting so violently it was all i could do to just drag back to shore ...impossible to get the board back on enough !

scroll down to the daily history

check the stats on wunderground after about 3 .......46mph ouch!

what a dose. fun in learning

You had 6-7 gusts in there over 40 mph! It is tough conditions for YOU to get spanked. You must have more intimate knowledge of your equipment than anyone out there. Were you very high off the water when you got lifted? Was it dragging you downwind (while in the air) or did you sorta maintain your line?

did not seem to be any higher than most pops , yes def falling off my line going down wind, but maintained kite control so had some direction control but the speed was incredible ...airborne flight control but no real control on speed once off the water, kinda try to fly it out as usual but just way fast. i tend to keep the kite high for solid power and lift but when the edge is gone off you go rather go up than be snatched across the water and drop the kite. kite did well ..blasted up wind to the limit of the board and me. my smaller board may have been choice but obviously i really wasn't thinking too much. the gusting at the end was the worst .. i was dazed, trying to keep it lit on the way back in , dead air spots then monster blow handling the board became impossible for about a minute... the replacement spars ...solid to 46mph

46? you're out of your mind man - I had mine out in 27mph and was feeling right on the verge of being overpowered. I would congratulate you but I don't want to encourage you to do this again - there's fun and then there's just playing with a loaded gun - next time take the day off and go do anything else. Good to hear that you walked away from it though.

this is just one more day in his vast kiting career. Thousands of hours. But at least we know that 46 isn't the limit on the replacement spars! :wow:

We had some crazy wind here in GA yesterday as well. My 4 mtr Access was barely maintaining control. It was so gusty I actually got lofted in the bug! I can't even imagine having a 13 mtr kite out...gust muncher or not! Glad you are still with us to tell the tale!

glad you made it in..................it did get dicey yesterday afternoon but was sweet around noon. Took my son out on the 13m, winds 22-27 mph. He has 4 line and depower experience. He wanted air and the 13 delivered....................... I put the original depower line/straps back on for easier power on or off since Nate doesnt fly often (a bigger target to grab vs a clam cleat stopper ball). He boosted some nice air/float with the trimmer 60 percent in..........................

You guys are nutz. Yesterday I was watching trees fall in the back yard and lawn furniture whizz down the street in front. Then there were the flying monkies and the chick on the broomstick....

round 2 ...back on the horse again today

def mello'd out a bit 25-35mph for about an hour then dropped 18-20mph

13m venom really nice session, beautiful sunset

i really should fly the 13m more often, whipped up to speed it delivers with good pop/release jumps. i always forget how its quickness makes up for lack of dumptruck power ... in reasonable air that is.

however i want soon forget how much speed and power arrives with 40 mph air

nice jumps tridude

Josh and I were on sod farm late this afternoon. Ditto on the sunset that more than made up for the lack of wind. Absolutely breathtaking!
