Hey!

Anyone know where I can get patches for ripstop that have adhesive on them already? Not that I'm vain or anything but I'd love to find some in matching colors for the kites I'm repairing. Thanks in advance!

Yeah.... i just ordered one of these. Pretty cheap fix, it seems. Made by Flexifoil.

Clear works... or if you have a marine supply store, spinnaker repair tape comes in many colors.

I made a repair on a 6" gash in my old symphony and I sold it still with my original 2 year old repair still intact. The clear tape is only more shiny that the underlying fabric.

Dylan got my last clear Flexi tape and Flexifoil has been out for months while they find a new supplier. I keep two first aide kits in my bag- one for me and one for the kites. I have some white and black spinnaker tape. Also red, ble and green in stock from KiteFix, which is simply re-packaged spinnaker tape.

do you guys put it on one side only or both sides? I guess the easiest is to just put it on the outside with the kite lying down flat and dry and clean somewhere... does that work fine?

I patch on inside for a less visible repair.

I put mine on both sides but Angus is right, it would look better and be less noticeable applied only on the inside.

also when applying... cut the tape were the corners are rounded this way it won't have an edge to get pulled upwards away from the tear... if you can, apply alittle heat after the patch goes on like a warm/hot glass of water just to get it to stick nice and tight

This ripstop we use is translucent.
That means it lets light through - Trans-through, lucent-light.
Not that you can see though it - That would be transparent.
This stuff is just translucent.

Now you put a colored piece of patch material - inside or out - and you're made a dark patch that will always draw your eye.
