it was the skimbat promo video I saw in 2005 that got me interested enough in the sport to take a lesson in kite skiing and buy my first foil. If ever I had a spare $1000 floating around, I would buy one of these in a heartbeat. The videso of them on ice are incredible.

They can be used with a harness - skimbat provided two strop types last time I looked at buying one.

Those are Coyotes for sure

I don't think He hit 71 mph in that video ????

71 kph ( about 43 mph ) is VERY do-ableand looks more like what He was doing! I have gone just about that fast before and hope to do better at NABX this year. I can see how Coyotes would work at higher speeds with the kitewing. Trying to go fast with a foil means the power comes from much lower so you must lean harder ?

I'm sure Dirtslide will teach me on His Skimbat . Unfortunately the weather has been so bad I haven't gotten my chance yet  Hopefully I'll have a bit of time in on it before NABX ?

Dirtslide has harnesses and a safety on His !

does anoyone know how the kitewing behaves in high winter gusty winds ??

that could be a good choice for riding golf courses where kite lines are too long

Gusty winds do make for a workout and keeps you on your game but you need alot more wind with the kitewing then most kites. Almost useless in <10mph and the real fun starts at 20mph. I recently got into kites for this reason. LOWER wind options. I sail a 5.5 and they also have a 4.8 and a older discountinued 3.8
Kitewing also has a new 7.5 for the water.

If you want speed, nothing beats a kitewing on clean hard ice with long skates. With strong steady wind, I would say fear is the limit. :shocked2: Time to start carrying the GPS.

I U2U'd Dirtslide on his kitewing harness setup and looks like he has'nt been around?
Alot of guys are using windsurf harness setups from what I'm seeing/hearing.
Here's an incredable video of what looks to be an epic day on the ice with a wing. He's using a windsurf waist harness and V harness lines that were shortened.

The kitewing can be used with either a single harness line from the centre boom, or a V harness line that goes from the centre boom to the Y tubes. It was the kitewing that got me started in all of this wind obsession, it is still my favourite when the winds are seriously big. It is very stable and easy to use.

Buzz, you'd be easily able to arrange a demo of a kitewing. Contact Michel Panagis at www.velumgravity.com he is in Montreal and I'm sure you'd be able to give it a try.

You have figured it out Buzz !

The Kitewing, skatewing and Nasa wing have opened up a whole bunch of new venues to Dirtslide and I :wee:
He has a pimped out GI for street that Eli put together for him ! Of course I have blades.

Quiet back roads and parking lots are now fare game ! Even with the NPW on bridle or very short lines you can pull it in and re-deploy in motion going under power lines :ninja:

Sorry He hasn't jumped in but He harnesses with 2 of the longest ( He's big ) for windsurfers. One on each boom ? I think his safety goes to the Y ? I should have taken a closer look.

Kites and wings seem to play nice together

Wonder what the wind conditions are?

I doubt it is all that windy. Judging by the big kite. With more wind the kite wing would have been ripping and the kite would have been too much !
