Map Image of your Spot - LocalKiteSpots.com
All,
What a great forum, I love the positive energy here.
I recently added a new way to post links to your favorite spots. This is a great way to share spot information with others.
On LocalKitespots.com, go to the appropriate map, then click on a spot. When the weather displays, then click on the "Links" icon on the left hand side of the screen , you'll see something like this:
Cut and paste the BB Code, and you get a post like this.
Bass Lake Map
The image is directly linked to the LocalKitespots.com map, when others click on the image, the map automatically opens, and displays current wind
conditions and a 6 day forecast.
BTW, Bass Lake is a really great snow kiting spot in Ontario, if you're nearby, give it a try.
Hope you find this helpful.

Nice website. I've got to ask though, if you think this is a great forum why do you only post here when you want to promote your website?

I've got a Google map with Oregon spots (actually and potential); nice that there's a collation site but unfortunately the weather information is
irrelevant because it taken from unrelated locations... at least for the Oregon sites.

I would need to do some searching but I think you may be wrong here ?
My 1st thought is that william turned me on to the site for the fastest speed on snow competition each year way back when. I ALWAYS pay attention when
he is posting because he seems very passionate and well informed. Always providing info of some kind of value.
HMMM I did a quick search. Looks like you have a point Kite NH :puzzled:

Hi Guys,
Wow, what great ride today. :singing:
Keswick Snowkite
A couple notes about the weather data for Oregon (and everywhere else, since it's all done the same way)
- Current observations come from the closest airports, and NOAA buoys. Sorry, no, I didn't set up a private network of 1,000 wind sensors all over
the world. When you click on a spot, the actual observation point and distance from the spot is clearly indicated. Some times it's pretty far away.
Sometimes (especially in the Gorge I've heard), only a sensor at the exact spot will do, sorry but I don't offer that.
- Forecast data is for a 30 km grid, world wide, updated 2x daily. BTW, I wouldn't bet anything on a forecast that is over 2 days in the future, but
within 48 hrs, they are pretty darn good, much better than newspapers, or TV.
Hope you find this useful, for me and the crew here in Ontario and Florida, it's proven to be as accurate as the pay services (eyeKiteSurf) I've used,
but you really have to judge for yourself.
I'd encourage you to add LocalKiteSpots.com to your daily ride planning. A collection of satellite forecasts, and nearby observations from several
spots and web sites, mixed with your local expertise can really reduce the number of times you get skunked with no wind.

KiteNH, you're right, I don't post as much as I used to on this forum, this was the first forum I joined a couple years ago, you can find my kite
reviews (from 2005) and other posts.
My recent posts are largely follow-ons to other's questions about spots, I hope that by adding my maps and weather forecasts to the discussion, I'm
adding some value, somehow.
Honestly I spend most of my forum-time in local Ontario forums. I like the perspective of larger international forums like this one, for gear
reviews, and locations. I think you'll agree that this forum has one of the best international "Locations" sections of any forum. I hope that
providing a quick new way to embed pictures of spot maps helps facilitate spot discussion. Spot maps help us avoid over crowding and make people
aware of access issues and dangerous launches.
