Pain...

Had an absolute blast and learned so much due to 4 hours Sat and another 4 Sunday in the bug! I seem to have caught on pretty well and we had 10-14 onshore (SE to SSE), low tide in the afternoon, and few people on the beach Sun due to some game or something. I just could not stop riding!! But...all day yesterday I had a nagging shooting pain high in the middle of my back that I hope is subsiding...I guess it's safe to assume no big deal and I'll experience less of that as I fly more. With windsurfing I'll go thru a few pains in the beginning of the season till I'm sailing regularly, then don't get sore or pinched-up too much. I guess I'm asking for tips on posture and such if anyone has any. I really enjoy all of the help this forum provides...Thank You!

The few postures to avoid are the "superman" posture, the "40 mph colon slam ", and of course who could forget the "don't wear your golfball kitestakes when landboarding" posture.( here it is again folks)
And like I used to tell my physical therapist " pain is weakness leaving the body"
Does it hurt enough to make ya stop?

Didn't think so:tumble:

WNG, I never noticed those sporty pants you are wearing in your picture before. I guess I'm used to the bruise now and the fancy pants caught my attention.

If you are like most and have let your physical conditioning slack in the winter months, then maybe you just had a little too much fun that day. Ibuprofen tends to fix what ails me too though. I have degenerative discs in my neck and if I jump and land hard (like on a wakeboard jump past the second wake into the flat water) it tends to jam my neck up and I get a muscle spasm on the side of my neck. 2 ib's and I'm back in business.

Ever since I tore my Achilles and ruptured my Gastroc( calf muscle), I got a whole different outlook on pain. Hell ,I got the gout, I can get and have plenty of pain killers, But I choose not to be doped up all the time. (like to have too much fun) For my kitin' pains, I spell relief B-U-D-W-E-I-S-E-R! take ten and do it again tomorrow!

a harness may limit the pain youre having. giving you more back support than what your XR+ seat has.

just a thought

just new muscles kicking in... I remember (as a relative noobie, mind) my first days of scudding, my stomach muscles would cramp at the slightest excuse, funny movies were excrutiatingly painful! I used to teach kayaking and climbing so its not like my core muscles were flabby earlier! And my feet would cramp up as well, as i was barefooting it in loose sand, how I used the angle and curl of my feet made quite a bit of difference in the control. After three or for hard sessions the pain faded away, now I have to go off kites for a month or so then have a good hard fly before flabbiness and returning pain begin to kick in.

nerve pain I get a lot around my old injuries, cracked shoulder ball joint on the left and rebuilt fingers / hand bones on my right hand. my gimpy ankle is back in shape, i can still make it click loud enough to get funny looks while riding the bus... (quiet ones only...:frog:) sure glad that got stronger rather than weaker! funny how the body reacts to different mixes of age / exercise / alcohol consumption and so on, I quit drinking multiple beers in the evenings a while back and while I eat more and crap harder I sure hurt a lot less...

fixed bridles, flying static, been two years now... ??? folks must be wondering....

sting 1.7, dp power 2.5, crossfire 3.2, ace 5, blade iv 6.5, ace 8, ace 12...

also a couple of arcs, 12 syn and 12 phanny, but i\'m not yet up to speed on them.

I found the PL was hard on the back i took an old cutting board (plastic one) and cut it to wedge between the rear seat straps with a bit of tinkering a back support. It may be that you don't have enough support and you are compensating by tensing your lower back. That is the trouble I had with the Pl bug. I hope that helps. I always use a harness as well that helped too. I hope you work out what is the trouble. I-be-broken (ibuprofen) is a great thing but you shouldn't need it after every trip out only after the OBE's :tumble:

If you want to have a go at having a backrest made like Angus and I have, I'll send you the plans. You need to have access to someone with a hydraulic bender or a geared hand bender.
