Flysurfer Outlaw

we had a demo day this weekend nearby Montreal, and the local kiteshop brought 2 Flysurfer outlaw 6m and 10m

We had a young 18teen freestyle rider girl who had much fun with the OUTLAW 6m yesterday

Here are some pics hanging out on it.

Guess what I have the 10m for a few weeks all for myself.

I tried it today for 20 minutes but will give more feedback soon.

All the Ozone kiters who tried it say it's an amazing kite. They all want one.

John

it's because they have not tried the kite.

we had an Ozone shop affiliated snowkite teacher who tried the Outlaw 10m, the Pulse2, Psycho4 yesterday.

Today he spent 1 hour again on the OUTLAW 10m. He likes open cell kites.

He honestly said that he felt in love with the outlaw and it is a much better kite than the Frenzy and Manta. He is seriously thinking to change affiliation to the kiteshop who sell Flysurfer.

The OUTLAW is seriously gonna take the snowkite market soon or later. It just need people to try it out.

Yes but found some difference

1) turns like a Pulse2 so fast. ozone riders could not believe it

2) Stable and predictable like a Pulse2. Jet flaps works too.

3) Being an open cell, it is a bit more power than Pulse2 and I felt it goes a bit further to the edge window

4) Goes upwind easy. I felt a bit less grunty than Pulse2 but the wind was not too strong. I need more input in higher winds with it.

5) Very fluid fly feeling. Maybe open cell has less drag. Need more testing too.

Could not test depower and gust handling as the wind was low and steady. But yesterday riders said it was handling gusts pretty well.

IMO a very good snowkite for those who dont want to spend the big bucks on a closed cell Flysurfer, and wants a better kite.

The OUTLAW retails around the same price as a Frenzy.

Denis,

What were the winds when the young lady was catching that air with the 6m?

We had them out too at the kite festival.
I sure did notice they seemed to be the fastest FlySurfer out there. He was blowing past Pulses and Psycho's.
Very sweet kite.

Tough to say because from the starting point obstacles were blocking the wind, but further down the farm the wind was blowing stronger. Maybe somewhere between 10 and 15knots, but with a very fast surface. The young lady is probably around 110lbs or less.

I went out with a Cabrinha Switchblade 4 (IDS) 8m about an hour later and I was way underpowered.

This 6m has probably equivalent power to a 8 or 9m inflatable.

I agree. The Outlaw generates a bit more power than Pulse2 for same size IMO that because it's an open cell, and kite flies faster

I love my two Outlaws, but I have no basis for comparison as they are the first depower kites I have ever really flown. Amazing kites though. :D

you dont need to try any other depower open cell. you got the best.

but if you get to try others, you'll just realize how good they are.

I have had a few opportunities to try others, but I am normally having too much fun with my Outlaws to stop and do anything else. I have flown a 6m Psycho III, when the winds were just too strong for me to handle my 8m Outlaw. That was a fun day. Made me think about getting a 6m Outlaw. Too bad its a little expensive to pick that up.

Joe

I didnot have time to fly the HQ yet, and I am not sure I will

I had too much fun with my own Flysurfer P4 10m this week. I like it so much in that size. Winds are pretty gusty this week, and that is the kite I prefer in such conditions.

Get any time on the Outlaw yet Denis?

I'm still waiting for my 6m. Must be on the slow boat to Guam...

And what is the wind range of your 10m Psycho IV on snow?

I just had a ride this morning with the OUTLAW on ice. It does not take much to get moving.

I will have some pics soon.

I did not experience the top end of my P4 10m on snow yet.

On this pic I was not depowered and the winds were pretty strong ranging from 15-20 knots.

Thanks for the pics Denis

From what I read, it seems like the 10m Outaw would have a better low end, but the 10m P4 has better depower and top end.

Sound right?

sound right, but IMO it's a little more tricky than that

In light winds, the outlaw will fly bit faster. much less backstall. so it has better low end. but as soon as you are powered, the P4 10m is as powerful as the outlaw

also the P4 10m turns fatser, especially when depowered

and of course much better top end

Got my first session in with the 6m Outlaw today on the Dirtsurfer.

Winds were pretty gusty, but the Outlaw performed really well

The open cell Outlaw definitely has a different/lighter feel than the Pulse 2s or Psycho IIIs I have flown - kind of like my old Ozone Access 2s but with more depower and lift.

thanks to denis i am now a happy kiter.....

hi 2nd-wind, you going to love the 6m, what really like about my 10m is the relaunch, you can relaunch in the power zone with eazz. the tip will not inflate till they reach zenith, also the 6m will put you past other kiters no problem. you will like the pop if you like to jump. my 10 pops like a 11m fenzy and glides like a 10m monta. here are 2 clips for ya and others. the first clip is a friend of mine trying to dial it in to glid down the hill but the wind was'nt coming in right. and the second is a 10m doing a road gap at the end of the clip fast forward till 50sec. dont mind the french, all they are saying is people with the outlaw are so lucky to ride fs.. lol just kidding...

Very nice vids. Wish we still had enough snow down here to ride. Bummer that our snowkiting season is pretty much over.

Buggy is ready to rock though. Hopefully we will get some decent winds. Gotta get that Outlaw screaming down the beach. :)
