Fun Sliders

Hey!

I was just watching TV with the rowdy 4 year old and on comes a commercial for "Fun Sliders". Has anybody seen these things? Might be good scudding gear. Too funny. They had pro and semi pro fun sliders demoing the gear.

Lol, I actually saw that commercial a few days ago, and I was thinking the exact same thing. I wonder how they would work on grass or sand?

They did mention something about traction lines or something...maybe you could hold an edge?

I really don't know. I guess the only way to find out is to get a pair and let everyone know how they work out. I think I might be crazy enough to do it. That would be ridiculously fun with my 10m Blaze. :wee: It is either a bad idea, or a really really good one!

Ok, I raised an eyebrow at Mel wanting to get a pair of these! They might really be fun on smooth grass though. They might be so slick that you catch up with the wind and your kite loses air. This must be a downwind only venture I imagine.

Can you say glorified curling slider?

Being new to this site its hard to tell if you guys are joking about these or not. Just when I was warming up to the ghetto idea of strapping plastic soda bottles to my feet!!!!

Brent, nice avatar! I think I recognize the kite you are flying. Just sold mine last month in prep for the new Beamer IV's coming out. Ok, hijack is over.

Hi,

Newbie to the forum.

Got into PKs a couple of months ago--with baby steps. Didn't think I would get too deep into it. Some buddies and I were talking about scudding along the grass at open parks, and we were trying to figure out what to use that you would not lose/fall off of. Since I have kids, naturally I've seen those slides. Mentioned the idea, and a couple of us got some from the local Target.

So far they have been tested once in a city park (bentgrass soccer fields) with a PL Viper 2.6 in 5 mph wind. We didn't want to start things off with injuries, which is why we used a small(ish) kite. I'm 6'0" 240# and that breeze and small kite pulled me about 30 feet. :wee:

That was at the beginning of August, and the winds have not been favorable. Plus it has been 100+ degrees and it is too dang hot to be waiting for wind outside.

From the one test--the Fun Slides work. Later when it cools off, we are going to try and get video and post it.

One of my buddies son's was pulled about 50' in the same wind. (Skywarn from another post about these carpet slides.)

They DEFINITELY work.
