We need to get something exciting going on around here :D . I thought it would be cool to hear about your most memorable session, whether it be the one where you had something unexpected happen or just a great session.

Think real fast over your history of kiting and what's the first session that comes to mind?



Mine is this last october.... Halloween, 3:30AM... It's a Thursday. I wake up and get dressed. Look outside to find no wind yet, when all the predictions said 25mph! I hadn't gone out in awhile and had talked my brother into going with me. I drive for 30 minutes and pick him up and we go out to the field. We first show up, it's pitch black and absolutely NO wind... So we try our first kite to see if it will get up at all (Blaze II 10m). Well, that was my first time with a depower AND the first time that blaze had set up, hard to do in the dark by flashlight :P.

After about 10-15mins we had the ace 5m up in the air as the wind was picking up. The best time was just as it was getting way up there i told my brother "Hey, watch this!" as I felt the wind blowing over me I ran upwind and shot the kite to 2pm. Jumped and WOOOOOSH a big gust had me up, looking around me and down at the ground not knowing where it was at because it was pitch black. As I was up there in the air I had time to think "where the heck is the ground? When am I going to...BLAAAAAAAAM!!!"

Anyways, after all that we pulled out his 3m legend and did some speed landboarding, there's something about it being warm, dry, windy and pitch black. What an amazing morning, after all that I dropped him off at school (he's in high school) and I went to work. What a great way to start off the day i'm tellin ya!!

I'm too new at this to have anything spectacular. I introduced one of my old friends to my new (and for me, very out-of-character) hobby at a really windy beach near his home.

Against my better judgment, I took out a new 3.6 foil. It immediately battered me around as I tried to control it in the fierce gusts.

I finally achieved the face-down, beach-drag initiation - but this time with a literal "twist." I was coated in grit and realized I was also corkscrewing through the sand while being dragged. I've haven't even seen this on youtube before.

My friend was very sad he didn't have a video camera on hand to record it.

My best session yet would probably have to be a snowkiting session on Lake Oneida in the middle of January. 18+ inches of snow over a foot of ice. Cruising a mile in a half in one direction without having to turn around was just amazing. Soft powder to play in meant plenty of practice for jumps. Was just an amazing session...

On the east coast of uk last fall we finally got nice north east winds of about 20mph. A few werw out and there was a grassy area just off the coast with 6 to 7 foot steep banks around 3 sides, that had long grass on. Had a 3mtr buster pulling me up the and down the banks with a few out buggy experinces when heading up bank hitting a large clump of grass. Brill session. Some of the boarders were getting great hang times of the banks.

this weekend my mates girlfriend got launched, i still cant stop laughing about it. check the video out!!!

Ok, most memorable has to be the second time I launched my "little girly kite" Beamer III 3m. The winds were gusting to about 25. As the kite launched and climbed straight through the wind window, I went up and forwards in the air. Shame I only weigh about 230 lbs or maybe I could've held it down. I flew 10-12 feet in the air and then slid on my belly/side for another 8-10 feet. Girly kite indeed.

Two buggy sessions stand out. First was with my Blade 6.5 at Jekyll Island. The wind was side onshore and I was on the downwind leg. As I would build some speed, I would catch the kite and it would just float along with me for a few seconds and then its like it would shift gears and pull forward in the window again and start pulling again. It would repeat this till I ran out of room with crowds. I guess I was getting over 25 mph but who knows. It felt like 45.

The other session I'll never forget is my night run at Fernandina beach. Direct onshore for most of the half mile I was using, but the beach has a slight arc to it so at the end of each run, I would get a slight downwind component. I could feel the speed build at the end of the run. I ran like that for over an hour till the wind died down too low to get out of some soft sand. When I got out of the buggy, I could barely pick up my arms. It was hard to hold the handles up to wind the lines. No flashlights but the glow in the sky from a factory about 3 miles downwind let me see enough to setup my kite and follow my tracks. The kite was in silhouette from the factory lights. I was buzzing for days over that run. I was using my 7m Blurr.

First time with perfect onshore winds at Sunset ... 6 miles or so in one direction without a single turn! Pure heaven :saint:

it's a fitness avenue, really that's it

my wife is very surprised i have interacted with the forum ..

introverted and somewhat reclusive ...kinda the "hard to get to know" type

life is just so wide open i am compelled to fill it

sharing it is really the most challenging step for me

i am grateful for finding this place to share my experience

we all work, we all play, i just can't tell the difference.

the end result is the same ...living experiencing this life

even deciding to go to sleep "when ever" is a big decision EVERY TIME!
