Kite Longboarding?

What's up guys?

Well I got into longboarding a few months ago and have my dogs pull me around every day. They get me going about 20mph for the first 100 yrds or so. But I think I want to buy a kite and give that a go. I live 1 mile from the Dodgers/White Sox Spring Training Complex, 4 miles from the AZ Cardinal/Coyotes Stadium and 8 miles from Phoenix International Raceway so I have a ton of Parking lots to rip around on. What would be a good, cheap kite to start off on. It doesn't get very wind here in the valley very often so I don't know how much I'll get to use it. I'm 6'2" 185lbs. Any recs would be great.

Thanks!

Get a rag flapper! the NPW's are the best kite for lot surfing by far. I have tons of time on my longboard and my npw on handles. Without the lines or short lines it really simplifies your whole rig and options for areas with light poles and such.

Don't forget to pad up, asphalt is a mean mother for wipe outs.

Yeah, NPWs are the way to go.

I use a 4.8m HQ NPW5 with my 46" KrackedSkulls Scimitar. No lines needed and getting upwind is no problem.

HQ stopped making them, but I'm sure some of the shops here on the PKF have some still in stock.

Well worth $100

My old Hamboard was a blast behind a kite!

I have a Evo and Origanl Custom 45 also. I'm really looking forward to getting out there. The main thing is getting enough wind around here...

You don't need a very big kite or much wind for concrete riding. Here i am a few years ago.

Mood: Go Fly A Kite!

[*] posted on 28-5-2009 at 07:59 PM

You guys are killing me. i saw this and it totally striked my interest as soon as I read it. I went out and bought a longboard recently and have been really enjoying it. Now I just got connected with landyachtz and i have 10 boards coming in to try :wee:
I have yet to ride with a kite, but I think as soon as that happens that will be my new flying enjoyment. (I have lots of concrete to ride on) and when the wind doesn't blow I can go find some hills
