stolen kites Las Vegas
Stolen from our rental car an hour after arriving in Vegas to attend NABX'09 when we went in to pick up food at the grocery store heading out of town.
Smash and Grab - they probably don't even know what the gear is as most was in wheeled golf travel bags.
- Advance Quattro 1.8m / blue and red (incl. lines and handles in small black bag)
- Airea Raptor 2.5m / yellow and white (incl. lines and handles in white stuff bag)
- Airea Raptor 6.5m / red and white (incl. lines and handles in white stuff bag)
- Peter Lynn Synergy 8m / Rasta colour - brand new
- Peter Lynn Synergy 12m / Red, Blue, White - brand new
NOTE: both Synergies were rolled into an old 840 Arc sausage bag and DO NOT have spars with them
- Peter Lynn 10m Scorpion / Red, Blue, White - looks almost new - may have very slight desert scuffed corners
- Couple of Peter Lynn bars with Q-Power line
- Peter Lynn seat harness with spinning spreader bar
- buggy parts for a Cameleon (front fork, seat, bolts) buggy bag with tubes, bearings
- Helmet with plenty of stickers, knee and elbow pads
- all extra kiting accessories include two Garmin GPS, lots of Nikon camera gear, video cam, ipods etc
- also watch for strange people wearing all previous years NABX and SBBB t-shirts - if homeless that's cool
Thanks,
Mark

Hey Glen
Just not quite the same without seeing you the last two years - saw Jason and asked about you. Hope you're good to go now and all things "have passed"
Not just my pain, Jim also lost camera, GPS ipod etc and some clothes and passport but was lucky on most kite and buggy gear that my bags were on top.
The vehicle was parked under a light and there was video surveillance but the case would go to a detective after 5 working days (the end the week
following)
Still compiling a list and values for home insurance to see where we go from there.
It's just one of many stories, lot's of stories from people this year on all kinds of things. Nobody was hurt and we had a good time and back home
through customs etc - damn, can't believe they got the two nice bottles of rum as well.

Thanks for all the comments - and Jim also had things stolen - all his electronics but luckier on his kite gear. I check Craig's list everyday but a
bit too far to check pawn shops in Vegas (I'm in Canada). Totaled things up and closer to 10,500.00 CDN taken.
Just going through providing the insurance company with receipts and proof of things and then we'll see how it all nets out. $500 deductable and then
it's replacement - that's where it get's tricky Cameleon buggy parts made in France and not available anymore, comparing Airea Raptors to comparable
race foils etc. It'll be a bad spring for buggying, surfing is covered and maybe by fall the buggy thing will be sorted out.
Then I will still need to square up with Kent for burning off his tires on the lender buggy.

Mark,
Don't even worry bout the tires, they have already been replaced and if you had a great time riding then we are already even. Just happy that we were able to get you a buggy to ride.
I'm still checking pawn shops and local parks down here, if any ever show up we will know about it.
Just make sure to come back down again for NABX '10, Next time we can leave the gear at our shop where it will be safe while you go out shopping.
Just glad you had a good time aside from all the bad happenings.

Gawd, that sucks - sorry to hear it.
Read on another forum that a pro-rider has his carload of custom kites ripped off too ... can't remember the guy's name and don't know if he got them
back, either
Glad you're insured though!
Thieves ... fuggin' bottom of the bloody barrel
Yeah... I got a kite. Or two...
