climbing harness for buggy use

Anyone use a climbing harness for buggys??? I've tried a seat and a waist harness ...I use both windsurfing...can't get comfortable in the bug with either. I'm looking at basic 2" webbing harnesses and the padded (singing rock) harness. It looks like I would take either to a sail shop and sew on more webbing to attach a reactor bar. I don't want to shackle on winchard-style cause I like to sail unhooked a good bit. I'm looking for comfort and ease of hooking and unhooking...

Mood: They're ALL good ideas. Right up until they become BAD ideas.

Using a Wichard release, a pulley and a carabiner works great. I used a climbing harness for much of last winter (I started snowkiting with fixed bridles) and it works great in a buggy. Doesn't do much for ease of hooking / unhooking though. I wonder if there's some way to hook up a traditional spreader bar to a climbing harness perhaps?

That's what I mean...why couldn't I take the harness to a sail shop and have webbing sewn on for a spreader bar? It looks like the climbing harness wouldn't get in the way of sitting in the bug like my seat or waist harness I use for windsurfing does.

I tried one flying static and it, umm, crowded the boys a little too much, well way too much. :o I eased the crowding with an extra carabiner between my D ring and the lower loop that comes from between my legs. Without having actually tried it recently, I bet it would be a less bulky alternative. Having the spreader bar would alleviate some of the other possible issues of squeezing your waist under power.

What seat harnesses have you used?

I use a climbing harness in the buggy. Works great. I use a black diamond one, it's the same harness I use climbing so I'm used to it. If you want a harness with a spreader bar, get the Ozone Access harness. It's basically a climbing harness with a spreader bar designed for snowkiting, but works for everything, maybe not water, but I suppose it could be done. I liked it when I demoed one this winter because I prefer a seat, but you can bend over easier to get into your bindings. The stays on some of the seat harnesses are a pain limiting movement. I like a soft seat harness. The new Peter Lynn buggy harness might be the ticket as well.

Soylent, I had a Dakine seat for years...now an Epic seat (don't use much) and a Dakine Nexxus waist. I've ordered a Singing Rock harness and webbing and buckles from Dakine...wish I had seen the Ozone sooner!

I really like the looks of that Ozone harness. I never understood why the kiting harnesses had to be full coverage like they are. My harness is very hot and non-ventilated in hot weather. That harness is probably on my want list now. It would be nice to try one out.
