Lake Conditions
Hey folks, a little update from the El Mirage area. Lake is closed and deep with water and there is forecast quite a bit of rain.
I'm out here for the duration and will keep us posted on the lake conditions as we get closer to the event.
Should it be necessary to have the pre-event somewhere else (Superior?) we should know in plenty of time to make those plans. Superior is higher and
further inland so may not be as wet by then, but we will do on site inspection to let you know.

Thanks for the update Dean!
According to the NALSA site, there was approx. 2" of standing water on Ivanpah in mid January, down from 6". There's been quite a bit of rain since
then.
Any reports on Ivanpah from Corey?

According to the weather station at Primm, Ivanpah had 1.25" of rain last Friday. Elmers had 1.5" and Barstow (Superior) had .40". Dean may be on to
something with Superior being drier.

Superior is about 15 miles down a dirt road that is about 6 miles north of Barstow. Barstow is right off of I-15. I don't know the milage, and
would look it up for you if i wasn't on dial up right now(which sucks btw).
We are planning on scouting it soon, but i can't say when as we have several meetings and events to deal with right now, so it has to be in between
them.
I will however let everyone know as much as i can as soon as i can.

Ok, it's official! I have the word from El Mirage, and from Ivanpah. We have permission to buggy at both places barring any unfortunate moisture
events.
Full AoxomoxoA may soon be taking places in the Mojave!
Today Elmers is forcast to get 35mph in winds! That will for sure hurry the rest of the drying up. over 2/3's are dry now may be over 1/2 by
tomorrow!

Buggy-Brethren,
Just a note on the rains seen on weather radar last Friday.
Be Aware that moisture evaporating from the lakebed on a hot afternoon looks like rain to the radar.
Doesn't seem to distinguish between rising and falling moisture.
I know this because we were ON the lakebed while radar said it was "raining".
Now this weekend is another matter.
Rains forecast for the high desert.
Not to worry, grasshoppers.
This should be no more than a slight dampening.
The forecast weather and breezes should have it all gone in only a day or two.
Then Wedneday (the 23rd) another "moisture event" is on our dance card.
Bets on if it shows up or not?
Still no worries.
I'm looking forward to seeing everyone soon.
I am often wrong, but never in doubt.
Safen Up! Buggy On!

An amaziing amount of wind today on the lake bed, pushing all the water from the top, down to the bottom. Spreading out that standing water, moving
it around. Should help with the drying process. When i left this afternoon, the whole lake was once again, uh, well, a lake.
Stay tuned for tomorrow nights report on Superior!

if the picture comes thru, that's looking from the north down on the lake with the lower end to the left and Walt's cove is out of site to the right.
