i feel loose is easier to start,
allows easier direction control, when learning speed control easy curves upwind are the brakes along with kite attitude.
fast downwind runs without quick kite work turns ugly ..just as you run by the kite.
as power/speed control improves, powerslides becomes a "power brake" from reducing speeds to transitions ...and all the way down to choking out the
kite.
a tight board will edge/pop better and is switched more than "steered" and in general will slide out easier.
