kite upgrade

hi i have been kiting for quite a while on and off and would not consider myself a beginer but i am only using a rage 2.5m (im a 13 years old and way about 7.5 stone). i fly in winds of about 15-23mph and my rage 2.5 can pull me along and delay my landing if i jump but isn't as strong as i would like. it is my birthday quite soon and i am hoping to get an upgrade then. in my next kite i would like less drag and more lift, i was looking at the blade-maybe 4m-what do you think? what is the best kite for lift and less drag? i would not be looking to sell my rage 2.5 and as i would only be using one kite at a time i was wondering about just buying the canopy and keeping my lines and handles the same. is it posable to buy just the canopy and how much cheaper is it?
thank you very much for your timee and sorry about so many questions.

Welcome to the sport! 13 years old eh ... I'm not much older than that myself
Drag increases with kite size but you get more power so it cancels out. 4-5m would be a good idea for when the wind drops a bit.
Most people here have decided that changing handles and lines between kites is a hassle and you don't actually save much if you buy kite only. Talk to Dakitez, Ripsession, acampbell, awindofchange etc to get a good deal!

Get a board ... it'll add a new dimension of fun

Yeah... I got a kite. Or two...

Hey there!

I have a Mac Bego 400 for sale which is pretty much what you're describing in your post. It comes with lines and handles - $250 plus shipping.

I've also got a Pegas 3.5 which I put on the same lines I have on my Rage 2.5. It is about the same as the Rage in terms of liftyness. It is $150 without lines.

just doing some research on the mac bego and its got amazing reviews-cant believe u would sell it! weighing 7.5 stone and flying it in 15mph winds would it not be to strong for me? also in my research everyone is saying it is a brake turn kite-what does that mean? do you have to use handles and brake on one side or what?
the other thing is would u sell just the canopy? as i would rather just have 2 canopys with one set of lines and handles and depending on the wind i would only use one.
thank you for your time

The Bego likes a bit o' brake. Nice kite similar to a Blade 4.9.

I am selling it because I need to buy another board (long and sad story). The handles and lines are kind of a 'gimme' at that price so you might as well take them since the price would be the same. I parapack so they are always attached. This kite also has Ronstan pulleys for the speed rings since you're researching the kite.

The Pegas might be better for you if you want kite only and less lift.

Let me know...I'll look into shipping if you send me your address U2U.

errr didnt really understand alot of that-i dont really know alot aout the technical stuff-is parapacking where you just leave the lines atacked to the kite? what are polleys? and is it just that braking helps turn alot with the mac bego?
thank you

The way I parapack is I fold the kite up with the bridle inside of it and put it in the bag. Then I take the handles and walk them back to the bag so I have a big 'U' in the lines. Then, starting at the kite, I stuff the bag with the lines. At the end I put the handles in careful not to put them inside the loops of line. It works great and I never get tangles. It unpacks really fast too.

The speed rings keep the front and back lines close to eachother. Hard to explain but instead of rings, I used pulleys.

This kite is very efficient and races to the front of the window so a little brake keeps it in the sweet spot and powered up. Others on the forum might be able to explain it better but that seems to make sense to me. This is a very quick turning kite with lots of power and lift.

not trying to say anything bad about kitedog and his stash, but it would be worth looking into a hq crossfire, a peter lynn twister, or maybe a flexi blade.... these three are all lifty kites that are dream machines out of the bag... the twister and the crossfire would be more forgiving if you happened to be in the wrong conditions

Look over in the kite review section, acampbell has a post comparing these three kites

Flexi: Blade ViP, Rage 1.8m \"lil Pepi!\"

i have heard the mac para bego is lifty but its more of a gradual thing as opposed to a blade which will lift (yank) you really fast--dont really know about twister or crossfire......if i were you,id get the bego--great price as well---stay away from the blade for right now........

hi i have been doing even more research and its seems like such an awesome kite-every single thing that i do want, need and could possably want in the future but with it being out of production and second hand if it needs repairing would anyone have the parts or be able to do it?
anybody else with concerns or negatives about the kite please tell me because i havent really heard anything bad about. the only other thing is if i would be able to fly it-i would consider my self an intermediat flier-do you think i would have a problem?
i live in sussex in england so i dont know how i could get one if i decided on it because it is out of production-do you know how much the postage would cost kite dog?
thank you

Not sure what the cost would be. I'm heading to Chicago for several days but when I get back I'll check and see what the cost of shipping would be. I can't imagine that it would be too much as its pretty light. This kite is in perfect shape...maybe a little sand in it but that's it.
