nice to nuclear in a blink

out on the water today, PL V13
at about 6pm for a ride, really nice ,
plenty of wind 15-20mph
rippin' it/jumpin' general fun stuff...then

http://www.wunderground.com/weatherstation/WXDailyHistory.as...

this was in the blink of eye no real warning except for the sand i could see blasting down the beach from the water on an air when i just happened to catch a glimpes and immediately headed in. on the beach, i dropped the kite and like a explosion hit, just as the kite starts to flag. stuff is flying by chairs/ umbrellas/beach junk.

couple of odd direction changes which was the really intense. the kite is whipping all over the place. with gloves on it was difficult to hold. one gust partically had me on the ground.
trying to find out the peak gust but only one good station relatively close.

you never know.

:wow:

Look how the dew point dropped at 6:30- looks like a cold thermal came in and thats what caused the dramatic winds.

Should have grabbed one of the umbrellas and done some buggying!

I'm lucky as most afternoons I hit the beach...you do get a sense of awareness with time spent...BUT I always know to be wary of gifts from the west....

keep it up! i always enjoy your posts...we had the same twitchy stormy stuff lately

zip code looks like 29928 or thereabouts
wow, glad you are OK. The same front hit us with gusts and dropped the temp about 20 degrees, but it arrived with a line of boomers that gave a tell-tale. Looks like your gusts topped out at 40. Could have been a mess. Good on you for coming in when you did.

We are still going to top 100 degrees today. Darn.

We had the same bump at Jekyll Island station but not as intense. I was inside as it looked bad in the sky.

The site is iKitesurf.com and they have a feed from the new station on Jekyll
