Sorry, that was mean. So, now that I have your attention. When are these bad boys coming out? How are they gonna compare/contrast to other Arcs?
I am dying to know!!!
Who all has them on pre-order?!f0rgiv3n - 11-9-2009 at 08:42 AM
.... That's not very nice.... BeamerBob - 11-9-2009 at 08:54 AM
Money in the bank ready to order a 15. They are supposed to be faster turning than synergy with double the power increase than there was between the
Venom II and synergy. Pretty lofty claims but these are from guys and gals that have flown them.f0rgiv3n - 11-9-2009 at 09:02 AM
My contemplation is whether to get a syn 15 or a charger 15. Is the extra dough/wait time worth it?furbowski - 11-9-2009 at 09:06 AM
If those are the claims, they'll be well worth the wait if true (chargers) but the learning curve is quite a bit different than FBs IMHO (2 flights on
my synergy, it's good but takes very different handling esp in big winds) so you should get started now on a syn and then get a charger later, you'll
get more out of it then, and the syns won't lose their value too quickly, venom II kite only still good for $400, syns will always be a big step up
from that.
And yes definitely the ticket for strong bumpy winds.
all from a fellow newbie, basically, so of course just my 0.02, hope it helps your thinking.f0rgiv3n - 11-9-2009 at 09:25 AM
I've owned venom 13m and scorp 16m (and flown a phantom 15 and syn 10m) so i've definitely got the feel for the arcs. Just haven't ever flown a syn
15m so I'm not sure what to expect past the scorp :P . I'm hoping for a one kite quiver and that kinda requries better low end and better depower for
high end. Hmmm So hard.soccerflyer - 11-9-2009 at 09:30 AM

I am wondering the exact same thing. I got about $300 saved up and am gonna keep saving. I think I will start out with a Syn. They seem to have
good reviews about being a great all around kite that a beginner (to depower) could learn on.flyjump - 11-9-2009 at 10:22 AM
Lol yeah, I'm hoping that there will be more synergys on the market after people upgrade. I wouldn't mind cobbling up a nearly new synergy to go along

yeah, i'm an idiot, shoulda looked at your avatar photo, that would've reminded me you've had them in the past...
but double the power increase sounds like it would have better low end as well?
yeah I'm curious about the reviews too... obviously...soccerflyer - 11-9-2009 at 10:52 AM

How is a Synergy gonna give you what you want better than your scorpian?f0rgiv3n - 11-9-2009 at 11:43 AM
Although I really have enjoyed the scorp and it has really allowed me to stretch my landboarding legs quite far it just didn't suite the needs of my
conditions. After flying the venom then moving to the scorp it obviously wasn't as much of a forgiving kite just because it's so INSANE! It doesn't
munch the gusts as much as the venoms did because of how aggressive it was. I had too many bummer sessions where I left really frustrated because my
winds were too off/on. The Scorp is one of the fastest and most aggressive arcs from what I have read and because of this it takes a little bit of
finnessing to get it up. The times where I was trying to make something from nothing (crappy winds) were what I"m hoping to just get rid of.
I'm hoping the synergy/charger is easier to launch and perhaps more stable in those gusty conditions.
Long story, probably more than you needed to know... but the only way to explain it all :Psoccerflyer - 11-9-2009 at 11:46 AM

When I asked earlier this week if the Chargers were still on track for release in late September, Marijn backed down a bit, not wanting to jinx
himself. But it's getting close.
Unless I move to the water, I will keep my Synergy for now. Gunnar says that the Charger flies slightly more inside the window than the Syn, so I
will hang onto it for the upwind work in the bug.-mj- - 21-9-2009 at 07:40 AM
Update pending release.
Good to hear the buzz going round!
Okay, what's up.
Right now we have the Core, Reactor II and the Charger coming from the same factory, and since both the Core and R II are doing better then expected
sales-wise we had to bump up production for these which resulted in having to set back the Charger production a bit.
Right now we expect the Charger to become available end of October, and we'll release it together with the new Navigator bar because the new bar
really compliments the kite and will take the Arc into 2010 standards.
But I say this with some hesitation, like Angus said, I don't want to jinx anything.
I guess that's only another month.Maven454 - 21-9-2009 at 08:31 AM

Can anybody please explain exactly how the Navigator bar will allow me to get " the most " out of my Charger when compared to using my Twin Skin bar?
In my little mind the stiffer structure and VP3 are the key to the better handling more so than the bar.

hmmmmmm. Well, from the reviews I've read so far it sounds like this kite is more powerful than most of the others compared at size? This guy on
kiteforum is saying he has an 8m and is already getting good jumps in 17 knots? and that's on water! http://www.kiteforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=2360229&p=61807...
I'm wondering if a 15m might be too much as an all-rounder... maybe i should be looking at a 12m for the allaround kite i'm lookin for... Since it IS
faster maybe it'll be able to make some good pull even in the lower wind days? Man... so tough.ripsessionkites - 30-9-2009 at 01:52 PM

Forgive me but I'm getting confused.
I think I also read on a Faq page on arcs that 15 inch is the max desireable throw as well ?
-mj- recently suggested that people like a long throw bar on their older arcs ????
I have never tried a long throw so don't have an experienced answer.
Is it possible that the long throw works only with the extensions. ????? :puzzled:
Without extensions wouldn't a long throw just create back stall ????

They have just released more tech specs on the Navigator Bar to dealers and release dates and pricing is said to be imminent. I do have to say they
appear to have thought of everything on this bar. There will be three combinations of adjustable length bars and line lengths (each line set with 3m
extensions) for maximum versatility in various wind ranges. There is a 45-55 cm adjustable bar and a 55-65 cm adjustable version. New leash, too
which will be a nice aftermarket accessory.markite - 28-10-2009 at 07:46 PM
The group of us Arc users in Ontario had converted over to long throw bars a few years ago and I've used them on Synergies, Scorpions, Venoms and
Phantoms.
For everyone that I've converted bars over for, they love them and wouldn't go back. In a somewhat brief explanation let's assume you have a possible
power range in a kite from 1-10. With a previous twin skin bar the travel (sheeting) might cover a range of 6 numbers in the power range. The separate
adjustment strap would move that range of 6 up and down along the scale of 10 so you could set it to be from 1-7 or 2-8, 3-9, 4-10 (Remember these are
just numbers I'm using for explanation). So you are dealing with two variables that only give you a portion of the range at any time.
The longer throw gives you that full range in one movement, the length of your reach from 1-10. So you don't need to fiddle with the strap. We have a
below the bar trim adjustment that you pull in (same as a strap) to make sure the kite is depowered so even pulling on the bar won't power it up
fully. Then when the kite is up you ease out the trim on the cleat and set it and leave it. The long throw means we can move the bar between kite
sizes as well. You don't really need to worry about line extensions because you can always pull in the sheeting (which is the front lines) to account
for any extensions needed - however this would mean you could have a foot or so of dangling line at the cleat which you may not want and if you did
need to pull in a lot then you've also reduced the throw on the bar a little. (I have the ext. on the kites that needed them just because it makes
everything equal moving the bars around)
The long throw is awesome on the drylake - no worries of setting the kite up for max power because you can push your arm out to full extension and go
to depower.
We also have the sliding stopper so you can set the bar so it will stop with power in it (to cruise or do tricks). But in gusty conditions, high wind
and high speed the stopper is furthest away for max depowerability.
We have not found any drawbacks to using the long throw on any of the kites. Using them in buggies, on the water, in winter etc.
The bars are easy enough to convert over once you pick up a ch. loop, some line, a good sized ring, a sliding stopper and a couple of stopper balls
for ends of the line.
MarkBeamerBob - 28-10-2009 at 07:51 PM
So your center line is the only thing different? Or did I miss something. How much longer do you make the center line? I'm getting ready to redo a
bar and am toying with the idea of adding some throw but want to do it right without causing myself other problems.markite - 28-10-2009 at 08:06 PM
We stripped everything off the stock PL bars, then you need a chicken loop with a cleat on the side. At first we bought cleats and screwed them onto
the side of the loop (now I just order extra chicken loops that come with the cleat from another company I deal with). Then you need about 8 - 8 1/2
feet of 5mm amsteel for your trim line. At the top of the trim line instead of running it through a pulley and back down you can use a welded ring
about 1.5 inch that will allow the line to slide easily. Jim had made some stoppers modeled after the ones I've bought. When you set up the centre
line it will go from the loop, up through a ball to keep the lines snug, through the bar, through one side of the stopper, through the ring, back down
through the stopper, the bar, the ball and tied off on the ch. loop. Because you will now have a full arms length plus a few inches to push the bar
all the way, the outside leaders that were on the stock bar are a few inches too short so you need to put new longer leaders on.
- set trim to max power, pull bar up to ch loop.
- you will need to put a couple of pigtails on the top ring to attach front flying lines
- make leaders long enough to equal out point where all lines attach
- we also set up a 2 ring safety some kites on front, some on rear
I'll check what spare components I have Bob and I'll send you a U2U

A picture is worth a thousand words. I was keeping up fine till you didn't say anything about a cleat or trim strap up top. Very simple setup. The
cleated chicken loop is the only thing that I'm wondering how to accomplish. I'll wait to hear from you Mark.markite - 28-10-2009 at 09:05 PM

MarkBladerunner - 29-10-2009 at 06:38 AM
WOW Mark.
This is exactly what I have been waiting to hear !!
With this in mind you have 2 choices . You can keep 2 bars or go long throw and get used to it on the older kites.
As I see it the Navigator has the adjustble stopper as well. To me it seems key.
Bring it ON PHREERIDER - 29-10-2009 at 06:50 AM
very nice, reminds of LF bar ,"below the bar trim" same concept best i can tell.lad - 29-10-2009 at 07:03 AM
Now I wish I kept that 29" carbon slingshot bar for future monster arcs - it had nearly everything I now want on a bar
I have to insert here that my experience with a CL trim cleat (on my Ranger bar) is problematic.
It's hard to get enough leverage to reach and pull in/depower a tight line from such a low angle.
(maybe not so much for you younger gym rats!) markite - 29-10-2009 at 07:32 AM
It's really a copy from my Ocean Rodeo set up but using a twinskin 2 ring safety. You could use any number of bars and loops - the sliding stopper
varies in design from different companies. On the first generation sliding stopper from Ocean Rodeo it was a cylinder of ahhh brain cloud .... that
black stuff you can machine and make kite fittings out of - delrin. Two parallel hole for the line and the holes are slightly conical shape (wider
hole at the top). The newer one is a molded piece with a tab that snaps into the centre to adjust tension for the amount of pressure needed to push
out on the stopper in case you set it for power ad need to punch up for depower.
I still have different bar lengths for different kite sizes and the kites have the extensions on them. I prefer not to adjust the trim that much to
account for the extensions because you will have line dangling and now that I think of it that there are a couple of drawbacks to this system:
1) if you have a lot of line dangling - it's usually only from 1 to 8 inches but if you pull more to really have the kite running more depowered than
the line dangling could wrap around the loop or hook. I've seen that when I surf and get in the water and churned in waves. The Ocean Rodeo set-up had
velcro on the side of loop and at end of trim line so you could stick the end of the line up neatly
2) by running any line through a cleat it does wear the line and you will need to replace it once in a while. It is easy enough to replace the trim
line and I've got bars that have lasted a few years before replacing and others that I've had in the sand, wet, sand - abrasion.... that I've changed
at the end of the year (line replacement about 10.00)
It's a simple set-up and could use some refinement, especially when it comes to safety systems.
In the winter when we are out in nuking gusty crap the long throw comes in really handy and I just can't say enough about it buggying on the dry lake.
Not only having kites that are flexible to wind conditions but a power range that's all in one without needing to try and reach up and pull a strap is
great - you get far more time riding - I'm usually in the buggy from first hint of wind until sundown.action jackson - 29-10-2009 at 08:16 AM

Let us know how it works out AJ and if you have any questions etc - you get to kite more than almost anyone I know - you lucky bastard!markite - 29-10-2009 at 11:33 AM
I might as well post this for others - answering a question from email:
When setting up the long throw you have the bar tight to the C.L. and trim line all the way out so it's at it's longest length from bar to line
attachment. Set your new leaders so that all four lines are attached at same horizontal plane.
If you use the pervious PL safety leash you may need to add a small line extension because it will be attached further away. If it's too short you
will be pulling on one side of the bar - too long it will hang down and flap in your face at 60mph!
The ring for main lines should be a nice size, about 1 3/4 - 2 inch welded and thicker so the line runs through it smooth. The rings for safety can be
smaller welded rings but make sure they are not thin rings, get good quality.
When adjusting trim (it will vary in different wind conditions) I adjust the trim so that when I swoop the kite and pull in on the bar all the way the
kite won't stop or back down. That'll give you max power and then from this point you are good to go. When you push the bar out you may find you get
full depower at about 2/3 your reach and other really windy times you may next to go to full arm extension. There is a bit more travel available on my
trim line but the thing to keep in mind; if your stopper goes all the way to the top (by the ring or pulley) and you let go of the bar, the bar will
slide all the way up a few inches just beyond your reach - so you would need to grab the the centre lines and pull it down a little so you can reach
the bar again.
hope that helpsherc - 30-10-2009 at 01:00 AM
i am using my longthrow naish helix bar 2009 for my PL scorpion 7sqm. it works perfectly. i also do not need a stopper, because the vpc in middle
position seems to keep some rear line tension, such that even with no rearline tension through a stopper the kite will autozenit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5KebALd0l20brplatz - 1-11-2009 at 12:42 PM

You really need to get this into the St Pete Times. I can see the headline now: "Kite surfer rescues 3 after boating accident". The power kiting
community needs that kind of good press.

Easy Enough for AJ
People are going to start expecting you to start swooping in like " Phantom man " all along the bay !
Nice move budd'. Did the local press get ahold of it ?bigkahuna - 1-11-2009 at 06:11 PM
FWIW, I've used long throw bars with all my Peter Lynns, starting with the original Guerilla all the way to my Venom 19. I'm 6'5" and the "normal"
throw just wasn't comfortable, so I rigged my own bars and found that it was not only more comfortable, but I also had a lot more top end range with
the kites. I've also tried chicken loops with the cleat on them and didn't like it. You just can't get enough leverage to pull in the trim. Another
bar worth considering to mod for PL's is the Best kites bar. I have an 07 bar that I'm sure would work great with a PL.herc - 2-11-2009 at 09:02 AM
another video showing a scorpion on a naish 2009 long throw bar, this time i put the kite on an anchor. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7EBwSDB5mgtobytobsen - 7-11-2009 at 08:24 AM
Today I had the honour to see the charger live, including the new Navigator bar. It was at Germanys KLB Masters in Wanlo.
Problem was I couldn't test fly it because there was virtually no wind! ARGH! I just hope that i will have better luck tomorrow. Here are some pics:
thank you very much for the pictures!! how much wind was it ? below 6 knots ?
at least, it really seems to hold the air very well - or does it finally has so good vents that it stays inflated the way we can see in the picture?tobytobsen - 7-11-2009 at 08:49 AM
Yeah, somewhere in the region. The wind looked good in the morning, but during the first race it got really low. Then everyone packed up... Hope it
gets better tomorrow.
It holds the air as well as my VenomII, for a couple hours ;-)tridude - 7-11-2009 at 08:52 AM
looks like Flysurfer had no issues................................:shocked2::shocked2::duh::duh:tridude - 7-11-2009 at 08:56 AM
great pix.....................pic #12 looks alot like Sullis minus the sand.........................:shocked2::shocked2::duh::duh:tobytobsen - 7-11-2009 at 09:37 AM
The pictures with kites up were from earlier today, there was still a little wind. But after like 2 hours it was all gone. Even the new speed 3 silver
arrows werent able to give enough pull then, so they cancelled the freestyle contest, i hope we will have more wind tomorrow.tridude - 7-11-2009 at 09:40 AM
yes I hope you do.............many are waiting to hear about the Charger............................carltb - 7-11-2009 at 12:13 PM
this event was on my todo list and im gutted i didnt make it but as there was no wind it eases my guilt slightly!!!tobytobsen - 8-11-2009 at 08:19 AM
Well, again, not really enough wind to fly the arcs. The guys from PL flew the 19 Charger with extensions, but i didn't feel comfortable trying her in
these low winds. I added some pictures from today.
cool at least the charger in 19 seems to stay in the sky , even at these very low winds. how much wind was ist? 4-6 knots?Bladerunner - 8-11-2009 at 09:19 AM
Page glitches this am ?herc - 8-11-2009 at 09:21 AM
@tobytobsen: did you observe the launch process? how much was it pre-inflated? how easy did it launch? how much wind was it estimated? did it always
stay in the sky, or was the wind so low that it dropped?tridude - 8-11-2009 at 10:42 AM
some good looking kites at that meet...........Yaks, UTurns, Cooper, Reactor, Pyscho 3 and Speed 2. With no zipper and BOVS, the Speed 3s are even
lighter but Ill keep my S2s..........so how did the Charger fair in light conditions......................it was airborn

way too expensive for me, i think ill buy a synergylad - 8-11-2009 at 11:38 AM
But aren't those Aussie dollars? (not that it makes such a big difference after shipping!)acampbell - 8-11-2009 at 12:10 PM
PL says charger KO will be slightly less than the Syn in. The Navigator bar will be more by a goodly amount.
Hard to compare Aussie dollars to US. With the weak US dollar I am shipping product to australia and even with shipping it seems to work for them.DAKITEZ - 8-11-2009 at 12:46 PM

I will add one thing to this, because it took me by surprise. The Charger kite only price will be cheaper then the price of the Synergy when the
Synergy was first released. I had forgot that the Synergy had a price drop a while back. So don't expect the price to be cheaper than the current
synergy kite only price and definitely not cheaper than the current close out pricing for those of you got to take advantage of that tobytobsen - 8-11-2009 at 01:34 PM
I really cant say how much wind is was, not really enough to get going with anything. Well, do you know these kind of tents which are like jumping
castles? I think they used that to fill it up. :o)
I could not fill my VII enough with this low wind.
It seemed to have a good amount more bottom end then other arcs. Guntram said that he soon would come to Düsseldorf, when there is more wind, so we
could test fly it.brplatz - 8-11-2009 at 03:32 PM
I am really second guessing myself now....
I have saved up for a new Charger, but for that cost I could get a High and Low wind ARC used.....
