Hi
I am due to have a landboarding lesson soon but in the meantime I have been doing some research on boards and am trying to narrow down the selection
to help me choose.
I am about 195lbs / 14 stone and have size 12 feet, so I guess I will need quite a wide board to prevent too much overhang, and a strong board because
of my weight.
I am looking for a board which be good for getting reasonably good speed, but will also allow me to do some jumps and freestyle stuff. I believe the
MBS boards are quite popular but have also seen ones from trampa, scrub etc What other makes are worth considering?
My max budget is £275
Thanks in advance for any advice

You should definitely look into the GI boards as well. I just purchased one and am very pleased with it. Nothing against the other companies
mentioned, but I haven't had any experience with them, except for MBS. If you plan on doing any jumping, make sure you get a board with a nice pair of
bindings that fit you well. Make sure the bindings have the post (the little metal piece on the binding where it attaches to the board) becuase that
gives you something to turn your feet against when you become airborne. MBS's atom 95 does not have that on the bindings and I ended up selling the
board because it wouldn't stay on my feet when I jumped with it. You shouldn't have to spend £275 on your first board, especially if you buy used.
However, if you think you'll stick with the sport, don't buy a 'beginner' board. Its better to spend a little more money now and have something that
will last rather than wanting to upgrade in a month. Just my two cents.
