Can you? Should you? I remember being there as a kid and loved the dune buggies but looking at some online pics I'm thinking I could have a little fun

My advice would be not to unless you want to be run over by a truck.WIllardTheGrey - 12-2-2010 at 09:07 PM
I have when the sand was frozen and it was a blast, but now its big-foots REQUIRED.
Here's a video of the local shop before they shutdown. Ends in an OBE.
It is a surf/kayak shop that tried to carry kites, without knowing anything about them. heliboy50 - 13-2-2010 at 12:28 AM
What about at Honeyman? Vehicles have to stay pretty far from the main day use area/lake. Like 200-300 yards at least, I think.macboy - 13-2-2010 at 12:48 AM
hehehehe fitting soundtrack ; )
I have a funny feeling my time is better spent at Seaside ; )WIllardTheGrey - 13-2-2010 at 03:43 AM

When I have been swimming there it was always really gusty, but my wife says she spotted someone flying on the dunes one day so who knows.jellis - 13-2-2010 at 10:43 AM
Ready and waiting for WIllardTheGrey to let us know when the best time of year is to shred those dunes.sunset-Jim - 13-2-2010 at 10:58 AM
That would be a fun trip. I'm thinkin though with as soft as that sand is that it would be pretty well limited to downwinders. But that's not a
tough work around. I'm gameWIllardTheGrey - 13-2-2010 at 02:34 PM
The best time I have gone was a couple very cold days after a rain that froze the sand to about the consistency of concrete.
Other than that very rare occasion off season is best due to the lack of tourons (tourist/morons).
There are some hard flats that you can work your way back up wind on then go back into the dunes for another down-winder.
google map of the flats
I'll see if I can get some sat. pics of the easiest access point to get out there. EDIT
Well I couldn't get my G-earth to work on ubuntu so here is the map of the access its the sand road thats not highlighted as a road (go figure) Linksunset-Jim - 13-2-2010 at 02:47 PM

We're passing through somewhere around the 9th / 10th of April. Still think time might be better spent at Seaside/Sunset. No?
