well done....prepare yourself for empty pockets....this is just the beginning, but by God you'll have some fun

Hardrock - 5-4-2010 at 01:07 PM

mougl, take some videos. I'm still looking for a good field and some how I pick up from guys learning better than I do the watching the guys who are ripping it up.

Congrats tho, I know you are excited. I'm waiting on a kite in the mail, and its just killing me. LOL

mougl - 5-4-2010 at 01:17 PM

The anticipation is even more than when I was waiting for my first kite hehe

Oh I am already learning about empty pockets!

powerkiter82 - 5-4-2010 at 02:31 PM

You will like that buggy, I just got one a few weeks ago, and have been out twice in it and love it. Welcome to the beginning of a never ending addiction.

WELDNGOD - 5-4-2010 at 02:40 PM

mougl, be careful w/ that backstrap. You really should get a harness and a Quick release/pulley.
Congrats on the bug Bro'

WG

mougl - 5-4-2010 at 02:51 PM

Mougl, your buggy actually rode back from NABX with me since I had some extra room. Glad to be a small part of your buggy beginnings. It was back there beside my PL/Flexi bug with Screwyfits massive aluminum front fork and downtube, but I haven't seen any little buggies running around the garage yet. <Reference to XX buggy thread>

mougl - 7-4-2010 at 09:46 AM

No little pink bugs yet???

Eveyone here had a lot to do with the start of my buggy adventure. Between the vids everyone posts up andtalking to everyone about buggies *coughDinocough* how could I resist? Thanks BB for bringing her home safe! Lol

rocfighter - 9-4-2010 at 02:42 PM

Congrats and have some safe fun. And that doesn't mean where your goloshes but other protection is always good!!:wink2:

mougl - 9-4-2010 at 03:04 PM

Oh I've got the helmet, etc ready! Hopefully she will be here tomorrow so I can start breaking her in :) wind report is decent for Sunday...Monday looks nice...Tuesday looks amazing!

csa_deadon - 9-4-2010 at 03:15 PM

I heard Rip is taking his Apexx in for an ultrsound next week to determine whether he needs to buy a pink skirt, or pink shorts!!! :P

The bug is HERE!!!!

Having never seen a buggy before, I was super impressed to see how easily it went together! Took a matter of minutes. I can't wait to get out on this thing!

Thanks again Dino!

That is the beautiful thing about the PL buggies, quick assembly.

I have to carry a tool box :P

nocando - 14-4-2010 at 05:34 AM

make yourself an apparent wind indicator and zip tie it to a fork leg

I used 6mm plastic pipe and cassette ribbon

Empty pockets? Check! Heading to jibe this year for sure, and prob going to try the TX event also. (Cash flow and work permitting) should be able to get my first run in tomorrow after work.

acampbell - 14-4-2010 at 08:29 AM

This is great news on the bug. Looking forward to seeing the new ride at JIBE.

mougl - 14-4-2010 at 08:57 AM

Pulley block $15
Quick release $20
Being able to get out in a hurry - priceless

acampbell - 14-4-2010 at 09:02 AM

watch those plunger-pin style QR's- they can jam under load. Keep it clean and inspect often. I tie a big bright bandanna to the release with a lanyard of heavy dyneema or similar. Gives a lot to grab onto in a brown-trouser moment.

WELDNGOD - 14-4-2010 at 02:16 PM

Mougl, that is a terrible choice of QR. It will not releases like ya think it will under load. I used to have one, then I heard they did not work under load,so I hung in a tree and tried to pop it . Damn thing took a tremendous amount of pull to trigger, more than you will be able to generate while flying superman thru the air. You need to spend the dough and get the 70$ stainless torsion QR. Search the forum for Quick Release, and you will see some good posts w/ pics and links. I am only saying this cause I would hate to see ya hurt by a safety device that did not work properly. Also the load rating on the bronze one is pretty low.(less than 1000 lbs probably) When dynamic loading rigging gear ,the load weight should not be more than 10 percent of load rating,if it is going to be in motion . ( like topping a tree or snatching a human 30 ft in the air with wind power). A load that is in motion exerts way more than just it's weight on the rigging gear,it is a multiplier of force.

acampbell - 14-4-2010 at 02:22 PM

Wichard 2673, $80

Expensive but....

Weldngod said it well

The trip lanyard is subject to wear, so replace it regularly with Spectra/ Dyneema

WELDNGOD - 14-4-2010 at 02:56 PM

I use paracord for my trip lanyard, doesn't wear out as easy.

mougl - 14-4-2010 at 03:39 PM

Thanks for the heads up all! Going to head back to west marine tomorrow to exchange for the good stuff. I had no idea there was such a big difference. This is one of the reasons I love this forum

mougl - 14-4-2010 at 04:09 PM

That's the 1 i'm gonna go get tomorrow :)

WELDNGOD - 14-4-2010 at 04:24 PM

that's what I got ,and alot of other members use too. You might want to get a Holt Allen block too ,its sideplate opens to put the strop in. Get the 40 mm one

Maven454 - 14-4-2010 at 04:25 PM

I've got an order in for that Snatch Block. It's currently out of stock until who knows when. Has been for a month now.

mougl - 14-4-2010 at 04:45 PM

If my local store is out ill check boaters world as well. If no luck there I'm lucky enough to live in a town that's built around boats so I have some specialty shops I can check too woohoo! Gotta get it done on my lunch break tomorrow though, tomorrow after work is my bugs maiden voyage!

DAKITEZ - 14-4-2010 at 04:54 PM

no need to rush on the QR you don't need it for awhile ... your getting excited and are forgetting what i told you. Try the buggy unhooked at first. And try the harness hooked in just flying static before hoping in the buggy. You don't want to do too many steps all at once and get yourself all confused. If you put the harness on ... get hooked in ... get in the buggy ... all this at the same time for the first time is alot for your mind to take on at once. Baby steps!

If you fly un-hooked and get in the buggy .. you have only introduced one factor that you previously have not done, so it will not be a major shock. Plus I guarantee the first time you sit in the buggy the kite will fall to the ground. That is just an intro to buggy riding i think

acampbell - 14-4-2010 at 05:09 PM

Sage advice Dino, as always. We will get him hooked up at JIBE and on track, one step at a time....

mougl - 14-4-2010 at 06:42 PM

yeah, i am getting ahead of myself  you know me though, I usually go in guns blazing....maybe it's time I slow down for a change

xxxBUGGYPILOTXXX - 23-4-2010 at 12:39 PM

http://www.greenboatstuff.com/wiquresweyes.html QR $79.99
HOLT ALLEN MIDI SNATCH BLOCK $31.95
http://us.binnacle.com/p2037/HOLT-ALLEN-MIDI-SNATCH-BLOCK/pr...

So all total under $130.00 guesstimate of $20.00 shipping?
What's your life worth:puzzled:
