buggy purchase

tridude - 15-4-2010 at 07:31 AM

have been waiting a couple years now and the time finally came. Angus offered me a deal on his BF I couldnt resist....thanks again Angus............I've spent of total of 30 minutes in a buggy with my 10m Pulse but had a blast and was able to get back where I started..................any suggestions, tips, etc will be appreciated.................

Avoid flipping the buggy and hitting yourself in the head with the axle...

mougl - 15-4-2010 at 07:39 AM

Congrats on the new bug!

BeamerBob - 15-4-2010 at 07:42 AM

Congrats on your new rocking chair................ Er um buggy. Don, this doesn't mean you are old now. The buggy is just an element you haven't fully discovered yet. I hope you really like it. Those cool air transitions where you send the kite back over your head to lift you and head back the other way don't work as well in the buggy.:lol: I think your wind skills will have you riding fine in the buggy with about 10 more minutes of practice.:bigok:

I've never actually done it. But I'm pretty sure I ran across a video of someone flipping and hitting themselves in the head with a back tire .

B-Roc - 15-4-2010 at 09:12 AM

Congrats! The more time I spend as a passenger in the back of Kteguru's buggy the more I want one myself.

BeamerBob - 15-4-2010 at 09:14 AM

I've hit myself in the head with my rear tire twice. It happens at slow speeds to stopped and then you get more power than you were ready for and the buggy flips instead of rolling away with the power. A third time, I had the presence to reach up and catch the axle before it conked me in the head. Don't let the kite get perpendicular to you at slow speeds is the lesson here.

For maximum enjoyment Redirect HARD and FAST at the end of your runs :cool2::Ange09::wow:

Good call D,

Im really thinking a Reactor 2 or Century/Combat for my FB motor...............Ive got the 10m Synergy, 12m Speed 2 and for those uber low dayz the 19m SA2..............I have 3 years solid on FB before I went total depower...............

any FB suggestions based on the current quiver riding mostly on hard packed beaches and sandbars..............

BeamerBob - 15-4-2010 at 11:33 AM

Your depowers will reign supreme and you are on the right track for what to get for those fixed bridle days. You have so much wind range with your depower quiver that unless you are running dune to water, you might not need a fb kite.

Maven454 - 15-4-2010 at 11:33 AM

Much as I love my Ozones, my understanding that the Reactor II is the way to go as long as you don't need something like the Vapor or the Yakuza GT.

I did that once on the atb... still not sure how it happened, i crashed, and flipped and rolled and who knows what else... but i have a tire mark on my helmet from it... i still laugh everythime i see it

Phantoms love buggys fyi!

B-Roc - 15-4-2010 at 12:30 PM

If you can score some begos again those would be sweet - race kite like performance but lift when you want it.

tridude - 15-4-2010 at 12:34 PM

Ive watched Angus, BB, Mgatc, and Pokite enough to have the some of basics down....................I understand the tutoral but Im more of a visual learner............Im sure the reading then execution will work....................Phree gave me the basics on the water and took it forward from there....................................:dunno::dunno:

Drewculous - 15-4-2010 at 12:37 PM

Yup, same dynamics, but your ass is low and dry. And you can do it with a beer in one hand!

WELDNGOD - 15-4-2010 at 01:37 PM

I have flipped a few times at speed ,by huge gusts while flying overpowered. And have marked up my helmet real good too. Stuff happens...

BeamerBob - 15-4-2010 at 01:40 PM

Tridude, you are going to find yourself cruising down the beach thinking "oh yeah, wind, I remember how this stuff works".

arkay - 15-4-2010 at 02:25 PM

stick with the depowers if you just want to cruise and as bob says you have the added benefit of being able to not get your beer tangled in the strop. depower bar to strop fixed bridal is a different world. stick with what you are used to and you'll have plenty of fun! We need a buggy progression list... downwind turn, shave speed, upwind, upwind shave speed, downwind, down loop, back loop, upwind turn; that's a good year or so, what's next on the list aside from 118kmh?

dylanj423 - 15-4-2010 at 09:14 PM

tridude.... if you want some centuries, i am thinking of upgrading to vapors myself... i would be willing to sell some of mine off.... shoot me a u2u, lets chat... i have 1.8, 2.5, 3.5, 4.5, and 9.0 in century mk1, 6.0 in century mk2

I learned to landboard on a strop and did a few lightwind runs on a longboard/Blade 6.5 with a strop.................I would like one FB kite for grins, giggles, and buggying.................

acampbell - 16-4-2010 at 05:15 AM

FB are good for the buggy when doing short tacks across a beach or field when the wind is not right for long reaches, where de-powers rule for a nice park-and-ride

Taper123 - 16-4-2010 at 05:38 PM

Get out on the hardpack when the tide is going out and have fun sliding around... I still don't have the going in reverse thing down yet, but just learning to slide sideways to a stop is always fun...

But liek someone else said... if your used to depower's and flying on a bar...stick with it. I fly on handles now and then, but just feel more comfortable with a bar.
