brplatz - 14-8-2010 at 05:00 PM

That was one hell of a run on sentence. :D But I am sure you will find someone that has a kite for you.

Punctuation and grammar isn't only for school.:D

Kamikuza - 14-8-2010 at 05:27 PM

... should I sell him my 12m Ace for $100?

NJLandboarder - 14-8-2010 at 05:55 PM

life is short i dont see why not

NJLandboarder - 14-8-2010 at 05:57 PM

also i dont believe in periods are any form of puntuation;-)

Bladerunner - 15-8-2010 at 09:26 AM

So many thing make me uneasy here.

On the one hand your Father is a wind enthusiast and yet you say that he thinks buying a power kite is a waiste of money ? Can you explain that ? Most of the parents I know are thrilled to see there kid saving for kites . Most of the fathers I know that love the wind would be thrilled to see their Son getting addicted to the wind over the other things out there these days ?

Looking for a 1st real kite - over 5m - for $150 - complete - shipped is ASKING FOR TROUBLE !!!!!!! You will either get a ragged out kite or one with issues of some sort.

You are so desperate for a big kite you are likely to say yes to a kite with issues. Pansh is top on your list !

I was in your position at your age when I took up snow skiing and my folks could only afford to keep me in hockey. They couldn't understand why the old skis and boots from the 60's they got in a garage sale were holding me back. You will have to do what I did . Mow lawns, rake leaves soon ( shovel sidewalks for me ) and whatever you can find. OLD people love to have a yard boy if you look for them ! I bought a good used set of K2 skiis and new ( last years model ) boots and I was FLYING !

Take some more time and buy a QUALITY used kite. Use some initiative and you can get some money for hard work ! Even at 15 !It will serve you and resell much better.

NJLandboarder - 15-8-2010 at 01:12 PM

i mow my lawn and down live in an area where anybody else but my parents would pay me to do work and i dont know if my dad doesnt want me to buy and expensive kite but then i asked them if i could buy pansh blaze off ebay for 150 my mom flipped out and said im not alowed to buy any more kites she thinks stunt kites are the same thing as power kites my dad flipped out with her but if i ask me dad alone my dad says i have to save my money he is the one who ordered my new landboard from dakites for me.....and trust me i wont buy beat up kite i was looking to buy somthing like a beamer or pl rebble 5m and i know the same story with you skis i do photography and i had to save up and buy my own slr i spend over 1200 on it and a lense

furbowski - 15-8-2010 at 03:06 PM

a little patience and a little politics and you will get what you want.

now don't be thinking that in a just a few years you'll be done with all the parental management issues....

Your dad sounds cool.

You'll want to learn to ride that board b4 mixing it up with the kite.

Also have you given a thought to safety gear? Helmet, impact shorts, elbow and knee pads, at minimum. that's a few bucks there.

With the right attitude you'll get lot of help from here, but you'll need to figure out what that is.... You're on the right track there though with your answers to BR's concerns.

Bladerunner - 16-8-2010 at 06:52 AM

It sucks being 15 at times.

I'm very happy to hear you get the message about holding out for quality. Even in the used market.

Good luck !

gemini6kl - 16-8-2010 at 11:02 AM

hey there dont bash pansh kites i own one and they are just as good as the rest of expensive kites ,, a new 7m pansh depower is 250 so i would think 150 for a used one is reasonable dosent mean its beat up or there is sumthin wrong with it . not everyone can afford a 1200 dollar ozone or flysurfer. i took a chance on a pansh blaze II a few months back and didnt have any problems with it, it flys just like the rest and the material is almost the same with slight differences between the other kites i own.just my opinon. ..

NJLandboarder - 16-8-2010 at 12:14 PM

i like your thoughts gemini thats what ive been waiting for somone to say

NJLandboarder - 16-8-2010 at 12:19 PM

also to respond to furbow i have a helmet and pads i used to skateboard and bmx ill probly just wear a helmet and if your going to wildwood youll probably get to meet him there hes gonna be sporting the new blokart/buggy hes building

I thought that my first Pansh (second kite) was pretty good as well. In time as my skills improved and I got to fly some higher quality kites, I could start to feel the difference. Some have Pansh's they like even after gaining skills and discrimination but most wouldn't fly a high quality kite and a Pansh and not be able to find reasons the Pansh was inferior in some ways. They are still around for a reason, but look at resale value of various kites. The market doesn't lie.

Isn't Punctuation awesome! :thumbup::thumbup:

kiterformeerlyknownas - 16-8-2010 at 03:38 PM

I think Pansh and punctuation are way over-rated.................................:lol::duh::duh: I mean when youre on a roll why stop to put in a period or a comma or a question mark or a explanation mark or a quotation mark last summer at band camp...............................:duh::duh::lol::lol:

+1

I used to pimp pansh all the time, now I can't wait to replace them.

that said, the 5m ace is still my goto kite for really crappy light winds when I just want to fly a kite, there's no pull to speak of but if I fly the heck out of it I can still pick up my feet for a fleeting second...

I have heard this by more than one person who changed their minds as they got better skills + kites. Real Men like Bob will admitt it.

I was the other way. I went in thinking Pansh was a total junk. The lines and handles were junk but I hear they have improved some ? The 5m Ace flew very well but NOT on the lineset I recieved. They were 3 very different lengths. I was a Flexifoil flyer at that point and went straight to the Flexi handles + lines. Side by side with my Bulets and Blade it was obvious the materials, stitching and bridles were very inferior. My Ace still flies well and is on loan as we speak . My Blaze ..... lets not go there !

If you remember I said right away that you can't rule Pansh out with your budget and that is still true. You just need to be aware of what you are getting.

I can't speak in camera terms but I'm sure knowing what you know you would not buy the Pansh of cameras ? Now add in the fact you are betting your life and limb on that product not just missing a good shot!

Pansh has it's place and folks on a tight budget are their market . It's tough to say no. I understand.

Kamikuza - 16-8-2010 at 05:28 PM

No punctuation is only one step up from the dumbassness that is text speak  drives me mad!

If I was your age, I would have been in the same situation and a 5m Ace would have done me just fine :) till I could afford some bling ...

... and I'm not selling my 5m Rebble :D

furbowski - 16-8-2010 at 05:53 PM

yeah, pansh kites have their place.... for those first few hundred hours of time, and as a cheap way to get into the sport.

try to buy one that is already setup and flies well, those are the best deals. Buying new you take the risk you might get one of the random lemons.

NJLandboarder - 16-8-2010 at 10:04 PM

Thats the reason for this post. (sigh) I am only buying a pansh because i am 14, next summer i am getting a job and then i will hopefully buy somthing nicer like a pl or a flexi. I know you guys want me to have something nice but i don't have the money to spend hundreds even thousands on another kite, I am still in school and yes i can use punctuation when i want to.

I only made this post to find a kite ive seen pl rebbles for under 100 and beamer 5ms for 75 and a pansh 12m for 100 not that i would go that big but i would buy maybe a 7m blaze, or a sprint 5m or 7m or the legend 5.5m as long as they are in working condition if a kite doent have lines thats not too disapointing i can buy them and in the meantime i can use the ones from my beamer.

furbowski - 16-8-2010 at 10:45 PM

if you wanna buy a kite on the cheap, try patience and watching the boards like a hawk.

and yes punctuation is cool!:wee:

:D

beamer 5 m for 75? jump on it!

I have a 12m ace, they're not the greatest, they turn like a schoolbus real oldskool like no power steering. Yep if you can get one in the air you can get a jump out of it, but for sheer whip yo butt off the ground there's nothing like a well-powered 5-7m kite.

I don't know the Ozone little devils at all but they have a good reputation, there's two for sale $100 each right now:

http://www.powerkiteforum.com/viewthread.php?tid=14760

NJLandboarder - 17-8-2010 at 10:19 AM

yeah but the person sellling it is a away and it doesnt have lines i hope she atleast has the bag im comparing offers and trying to get a good deal on a good kite

Maven454 - 17-8-2010 at 10:43 AM

The Little Devils are listed as coming with lines, handles, and a stuff sack.

furbowski - 17-8-2010 at 11:11 AM

at that price the little devils are worth waiting for

i think the dude is part of the vancouver crew could try PM i mean U2U bladerunner to see if he can help you get in touch

there ya go no punctuation for once

:moon:

NJLandboarder - 17-8-2010 at 02:08 PM

are they as powerful as a 5m beamer or are they lifty?

Maven454 - 17-8-2010 at 02:14 PM

Looks like someone is already after the 4.5m, which would have been the one for you.

furbowski - 17-8-2010 at 02:20 PM

the good deals don't last for long....

i've seen kites go in minutes. :flaming:

U2U the seller asap, then put "u2u sent" in the thread, then look up their profile and send a message to their email.

rdavis - 17-8-2010 at 02:56 PM

What about a 5.5m PKD Buster? Kite only, no bag, $100

furbowski - 17-8-2010 at 03:19 PM

busters are good kites... def worth looking at. PKD doesn't get so much play in north america...

get the 3m little devil and the buster, then you've got a good quiver.

Bladerunner - 17-8-2010 at 04:29 PM

If I am right ? Harald and airin are selling the Devils and Beamer.

I am pretty sure the Devils have a good # of hours on them but complete with handles that 4.5 would have been ideal !
You need to watch that For Sale section closely and move fast. ( that is how I got Harald his set of Reactors at only $475! and Roland a perfect Speed 1.5 for only $375 !! )

The 5m Beamer is the one I told you was going to come up. If it is Airin's it is in good shape and is a good choice as an intro buggy engine. You may want to grab it ?

Keep watching the for sale section and keep saving . $200 seems like a magic # for kites that are still in decent shape and complete ? Your almost there.

You should PLEAD to Harald and Airin to let you in ahead of others on that 4.5 due to your desperate situation. They are at the Long Beach kite festival but I'll put in a good word for you ! There's still time to BEG !!!! ;)

the cool thing about being 14 is that people are willing to help.... give it a go!

Kamikuza - 17-8-2010 at 05:54 PM

Oh if you can get someone else's Rebble 5m then go for it :D good kite, I can jump with it and they board well. Little bit twitchy compared to the more modern kite but it's my most used tractor ...!

fletcht - 17-8-2010 at 10:42 PM

I have a pl rebble 6.5 kite only 150.00 send me a u2u interested. Very good condition.

Bladerunner - 18-8-2010 at 06:31 AM

Go for the Rebble if you can swing it! The Little Devil's are much older and less refined in how they fly. You get your extra $50 worth in long life + potential resale from the Rebble.
If Fletcht says it is in very god condition , IT IS !
I did drop a good word off to Harald for you !

fletcht - 18-8-2010 at 06:13 PM

Thanks guys, Bladerunner, I hope Herald is getting good use of the Reactors. Hope to see you guys again soon. Maybe Grayland?

NJLandboarder - 18-8-2010 at 09:19 PM

will you all be going to wild wood? i am what hotel are we stayin at? my dad wants to get a room

also my dad gave me a brand new seat harness he had from his hobie cat it has a spreader bar can i attach my handles to it some how to relieve pressure on my hands

furbowski - 18-8-2010 at 09:34 PM

Well the folks at WW will tell you all....

in the meantime, these two threads from the forum will sort you out:

http://www.powerkiteforum.com/viewthread.php?tid=14755

http://www.powerkiteforum.com/viewthread.php?tid=14749

NJLandboarder - 18-8-2010 at 10:19 PM

yess but basically i attach strops to the back of the powerlines and attach those to my spreader

furbowski - 18-8-2010 at 10:39 PM

it's best to be able to run the strop (one, not two, but attached to both handles) through the hook on the spreader. you have the attachment point right.

the folks at WW will open your eyes like you won't believe, dude. trust me.

NJLandboarder - 19-8-2010 at 08:50 AM

what i used was the line from my hq kite killers is that good??

Maven454 - 19-8-2010 at 09:07 AM

You mean the semi elastic line? No, that's not good line for a strop.

NJLandboarder - 19-8-2010 at 09:34 AM

uhh its the exact same line as the line on my handles its thick and doesnt stretch its from the kite killers that come with the beamer

Maven454 - 19-8-2010 at 09:50 AM

Odd, the line on my HQ kite killers is elastic...

NJLandboarder - 19-8-2010 at 12:22 PM

http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://i179.photobucket....

thats the killers i have and i just realized i dont know what a depower kite is

Maven454 - 19-8-2010 at 12:50 PM

The difference between fixed bridle and depower is discussed on Kent's (awindofchange) blog --> http://kitethoughtsfromthefield.blogspot.com/2009/08/fixed-bridle-vs-depowerable-bridle.html

NJLandboarder - 19-8-2010 at 02:27 PM

thank you

Midgaar - 24-8-2010 at 06:20 AM

NJLandboarder, I ended up passing on the 5 meter Beamer. I think it's still for sale, give Airin (Erin) a U2U.

airin - 24-8-2010 at 06:59 AM

NJ I sent you a U2U about the Beamer yesterday. .. are you still interested? Maybe getting a little overwhelmed by all this info ....!?

Borohead - 2-9-2010 at 01:37 PM

I've got an "Old"-But great 5m F-One semi closed race foil.....fast and powerful but I don't landboard or buggy...i've got handles and lines and it's in a Misc. backpack....would love to sell or trade for something a bit smaller for my 7 yr old son....He really wants to surf with Dad...What a reasonable price to ask....anyone wanna barter ripstop? 7/10 w/ crispy fabric!

NJLandboarder - 3-9-2010 at 10:04 PM

woahhhh how much!!!!

McDuck - 28-9-2010 at 02:28 PM

I've got a 6m Pansh Ace that I'm willing to part with. It's in great condition, set up and ready to fly. I will caution you though that it can be a powerful kite. If you are interested please fly responsibly and wear a helmet.

$100 + shipping.

I posted it here first so you've got first dibs. :D I'll post it to the for sale section in a couple of days.

bobalooie57 - 29-9-2010 at 07:28 AM

bigben91682 has the 5M flow marked at a new lowered price, and if I had the cash right now it would be mine!!! Can't beat that deal, IMHO!
