Wildwood Insurance IS Available (Mandatory input needed)

Todd - 29-9-2010 at 11:14 AM

Here's the deal; all riders can be covered but certain things will need to be in place before this can be accomplished. The policy will run between $400 -$500 and if we have enough people this will be split equally among us.

1. We need for everyone wishing to be placed on the policy to post up in this thread that you WILL be willing to pay a nominal fee to participate in the policy. If you have a spouse or child that will be riding, then that will be consider a count also and will have to pay.

2. Once we have an accurate count of participants people can then PayPal the fee to me (if you feel comfortable with doing so AND SEND IT AS A GIFT not to incur any additional charges) No PayPal, then you can send a check to my P.O. box (u2u for address) I will need a full name at this time to be placed on the policy.

3. A definite answer must be had no later than October 6th At this point a decision will be made to insure or not to insure.

This is a collective group insurance that covers us as participants in our kiting activities through the weekend and doesn't really have anything to do with the event itself. Only those paying will be listed on the policy and will be covered. Those who choose not to participate in the policy can still come and ride at the bash, but would be on their own insurance/liability wise.

If there are not enough participants then this offer will be pulled. I would like to thank Angus for setting us up with Mr. O’Connor, Rian for taking the time to iron out much needed details and all of you that have came forth with the suggestions and ideas needed make all of this possible.

Todd - 29-9-2010 at 11:16 AM

Post up something along this line please:

I Todd would like to participate in the insurance policy along with 1 child (spouse)(friend)

Count = 2

cheezycheese - 29-9-2010 at 11:29 AM

What exactly are the benefits to obtaining this policy. What liabilities/injuries to myself or others will be covered. And to what value...? Deductibles...?

cheezycheese - 29-9-2010 at 11:31 AM

What is covered...? Rider for injury sustained or caused? Property damage...?

rdavis - 29-9-2010 at 12:11 PM

To my understanding, the policy would be like the coverage obtained at any other sporting event where liability and injury is a risk. I don't have specifics for actual coverage right now as we haven't officially gotten a quote, but total coverage would be for roughly $1,000,000 and is supposed to cover us in liability and in injury relating to a kiting accident. Please continue to ask questions like these and air any other concerns you may have and I will take them to Mr O'Connor and get the answers for you. Right now we are just trying to get a head count of those who are interested in being covered so we can decide if it would be worth getting the policy. We have to emphasize, in order to be covered, your name MUST BE ON THE POLICY.

ragden - 29-9-2010 at 12:44 PM

I would be interested. Count = 1... wife doesnt ride...

I'll probably join but want to see the coverage terms and conditions. For example, what's covered? Bodily injury, property damage, theft?

Way to funny Ben!

The policy would be for $1,000,000 General Liability per occurrence, up to $2,000,000 aggregate. This is supposed to cover participants (on the policy), bystanders, property, equipment (I believe), theft i'm not sure about. Additional $10,000 in medical coverage with $1,000 deductible for those without major medical insurance. I have asked Mr. O'Connor to email a summary of the policy details, but have not received anything yet. We were disconnected during our conversation and have not been back in touch yet.

rocfighter - 30-9-2010 at 05:41 PM

This sounds like a good idea.
Myself and The Kidd would be 2

rdavis - 1-10-2010 at 09:40 AM

For those wanting to know more about coverages, I just got a SAMPLE quote of coverage from Mr. O'Connor. We have not gotten an official quote yet as we are still determining interest by you guys to see if it will be worth it at this point. I had to copy this over via OCR, so I may have missed some spelling corrections. If anyone has any questions, i'll try and answer as best I can.

Reads like a grogery list:crazy:. And how many times have I told you guys NO cheer-leading pyramids for the group photo:lol:

Todd - 1-10-2010 at 11:26 AM

Well Dean you did start it after wearing that pink skirt...

 Its October somebody start a trash talking thread for the bash, that was fun.

Thanks for posting that up Rian.

kteguru - 1-10-2010 at 11:59 AM

I'll have to remind Cheezy's daughter to bring the pink skirt. If I was wearing it in Ryan's video you would have seen nothing but the back of my pink skirt :moon:. Sorry for the hijack:wee::wee:

buggydanny - 1-10-2010 at 03:05 PM

Dean

I have you covered, I got a replacement pink skirt for you. I will put in my kite bag and have it for you if you make it to Nahant this weekend. Unfortunately, the store did not have any more shell for the top of the costume.

I havent read all of the WWBB threads but would the NAPKRA membership cover this or would it require EVERYone attending to be a NAPKRA member? This might have been answered, so sorry if I'm opening up worn out discussion.

I'm in anyway to help the coverage fees.

Maven454 - 2-10-2010 at 12:20 PM

It hasn't been specifically addressed, so we'll forgive you this time. This discussion is related to this Buggy Bash, which will not be a NAPKA event. Future bashes might be NAPKA events, which would require participants to be NAPKA members and be able to use the NAPKA event insurance.

Maven454 - 2-10-2010 at 12:20 PM

And while I'm posting on this thread, +1 as long as it's not too expensive.

frankiter - 2-10-2010 at 12:47 PM

I'm in on the insurance.

buggydanny - 2-10-2010 at 02:36 PM

Saw Rick G at the beach today, he said he is also in for the insurance. I don't think that he is a member of the PKF, so I am adding him.

+1

shehatesmyhobbies - 2-10-2010 at 04:34 PM

Thanks Danny!

Also thanks to all of you for realizing that as big as the event is becoming, something like this will be needed in the future as well. Kudo's to a great group of guys! If there are others that you may know and would be interested, please pass the word. The more participants, the lower the cost per person if we go with it.

Thanks

cheezycheese - 2-10-2010 at 04:52 PM

so at this point, what is the cost per person looking like...? :wee:

rocfighter - 2-10-2010 at 06:11 PM

If I venture a guess... Less than an ER visit!

shehatesmyhobbies - 2-10-2010 at 06:33 PM

Still waiting on the official quote. Hope to let everyone know something very soon.

Roc, you are definitely right about that.

Well,,, if we manage 20 people (which I think is reasonable) at $500 thats only $25 a person.

count me in will pay when i get there .

Maven454 - 3-10-2010 at 07:30 AM

Looks like we've got at least 19 so far.

kteguru - 3-10-2010 at 03:58 PM

Don't know if this is the right place for it but I just wanted to compliment Todd, Rian, and all others involved in finding what appears to be a workable solution. Those who want the one time insurance can pay for it (looks like it will be under $25) but those who don't want it don't have to buy it and are still able to participate in the bash. City authorities would also presumably be happy that you have a pretty piece of paper that you payed $500 for. Looks like everyone wins. I may well be mistaken but it seems like a good solution to an ever increasing WWBB. If in the future we need to get permits from the city hopefully this type of insurance would satisfy their concerns.

Thanks to all those who participated in putting this together:thumbup::thumbup:

Todd - 3-10-2010 at 04:30 PM

Thank you Dean for the kind words and I would like to thank my sponsors Rian and Rich for putting in a huge effort to make this bash a success. Future bashes will only get better from here on out, I can promise you that with a lot of efforts being emphasized on safety, permits and insurance. That being said is indeed a win win for all.

:bigok: to all

WELDNGOD - 3-10-2010 at 04:45 PM

ya know I'm in

Todd - 6-10-2010 at 11:53 AM

With much regret I must inform everyone that it will not be possible to have the insurance in place before the WBB. We tried but all of this was just too much in such short notice. In the future events there will be months to plan this out prior to the actual bash. Sorry to disappoint everyone.

Thanks go to Rian and Rich for the magnificent attempt.

kteguru - 6-10-2010 at 12:16 PM

No worries Todd. I'm sure Wildwood will go smoothly as usual anyway. Thanks to all for putting in the effort:thumbup::thumbup:.

shehatesmyhobbies - 6-10-2010 at 12:25 PM

We thank you all for the positive input on the insurance. The response on this topic was outstanding. Shows that the desire is there. Just wish we had a little more time.

But hey, only two more weeks to go, and I am STOKED!

buggydanny - 6-10-2010 at 01:33 PM

Rich , Todd, and whoever else helps

I appreciate all your efforts, often what you guys do behind the scenes goes unnoticed. Being an event organizer can often be a thankless job.

I guess it was not meant to be, I felt that the time frame was quite tight. I am sure you now know what it takes to get insurance and can make a better informed decision on weather it is worth the effort in the future.

See you in WW, 2 weeks to go.

shehatesmyhobbies - 6-10-2010 at 01:48 PM

rdavis - 6-10-2010 at 04:08 PM

Thanks for your understanding everyone! Like buggydanny said, even though we're unable to get insurance in place for this bash, i've come away with information necessary to make things happen in the future. ;-)

Jaymz - 6-10-2010 at 05:31 PM

rocfighter - 6-10-2010 at 06:23 PM

I'm just kidding. Great work in the attempt of this guys. And just an idea for those with the need. I have a rider on my home insurance for all my kiting foolishness. :Ange09:

rando - 21-10-2010 at 04:52 PM

I know this is late input but please keep me posted on this. I would likely be interested going forward but unfortunately my buying in would depend on the price. $$$$ is always tight :dunno:
