nocando - 1-11-2010 at 12:12 AM

Hey Bill if possible can you save some for NABX would love to try some

acampbell - 1-11-2010 at 06:01 AM

I used to. Didn't make lagers because I did not have the necessary refrigeration for fermenting in my NY City apartment, but I got pretty good at Ales, like IPA's. Made a great batch of Raspberry / Ginger mead. Took 2 years to make and tasted like Raspberry ginger ale at 12%!

There are recipes out there for just about any well known commercial beers. The actual real recipes are secret, usually, but you can get pretty close!

Getting ready to keg some lager's today. Partial mash brew of an American Lager and a darker Mexican lager. Have an old freezer with a thermal over-ride to control temp. Other fridge has three taps mounted on the front... :singing::singing:

Simple apple cider:

5 gallons apple juice
1 pound sugar
1 packet montrachet yeast.

Stick it a carboy with an airlock and away it goes....

arkay - 2-11-2010 at 10:49 AM

if you're adding that much sugar then it's more like a cyser. typically good, sweet drinking cider makes bad hard cider. I'm using WLP775 with a ferment at 70.

Taper123 - 2-11-2010 at 11:18 AM

Yeah... more of a sparkling apple wine, since I use a wine yeast. Stilll... good stuff.

bigsteve - 7-11-2010 at 08:25 AM

Hey arkay, right on! I've never made a hard cider, I've been brewing for about 1.5 years now. the last 5 batches have been all grain, i can't believe how much better all grain tastes.

We should trade recipes.

Kamikuza - 7-11-2010 at 05:34 PM

Used to buy VB when I was a poor student ... bought the first dozen cos it was like $8 or something, cheapest beer in the shop - and it was actually a bloody good drop! Strangely enough, that salient point soon became universally realized and steadily, the price went up until last time I checked, it cost the same as Corona - about $4 a can :o

Kronenbourg 1664 is the best beer I've ever had ...!

tridude - 7-11-2010 at 07:49 PM

do Aussies actually drink Fosters? I think they import it all to the clueless Yanks............VB and Coopers were my fav................@ Kami a cold Steinlager is hard to beat as well:lol::lol:

Kamikuza - 7-11-2010 at 08:07 PM

Hard to find here - read, next to impossible! I'd go a Canterbury Draught too ...! Japan beer is such utter, utter worthless urine in 99.99999% of cases ... that I'd rather drink a $2 bottle of Chilean wine

So blow me for liking Fosters. The new Ale they started importing here is quite good as well. And I'm happy to enjoy some cheap Chilean wine. At least I'm not drinking Bud.

" drink BUD i thought you were supposed to--- oh nevermind;-)"

acampbell - 10-11-2010 at 02:27 PM

Funny, I just picked up an oil can of the new Fosters Premium Ale and read on the can that it is brewed down the street (well other side of the state on Rt 82) in Albany, Georgia (USA). I really like it but then also read on the can that they added caramel color and that is disappointing.

Back to Sweetwater... They make a better IPA (IMO) than Bass!

nocando - 10-11-2010 at 03:38 PM

Hey Pilot do they sell Aussie piss in Las Vegas

acampbell - 10-11-2010 at 03:45 PM

Everything is for sale in Las Vegas. EVERYTHING. Well, except for Roo Scarers. I could use a couple more because some pissed off Tern wearing ear-muffs stole mine off the buggy.

SlasherQuan - 12-11-2010 at 03:01 PM

used to love beer, can't do it anymore....found out I was glutien Intolerant. There is one glutien free beer that is good its call New Ghrist. Then there is that Redbridge garbage in the supermarket, its glutien free for piss
