Wanting to upgrade my Synergys to Chargers

Kamikuza - 18-11-2010 at 06:26 PM

Damned people talking, got me thinking ... do they really have more bottom end than the Synergy?

So I want me some Chargers now  but money is tight so I'd have to sell out or trade the Synergys before I could get Charged ...

... hmm ...

Bladerunner - 18-11-2010 at 06:29 PM

What do you have in 10m at Kami's Kite Shop?

flyjump - 18-11-2010 at 06:36 PM

I can't wait to get my chargers!!! The low end is so good on them. I used the demo charger that invertedforce had. It felt like an LEI and arc mix because it was so responsive and fast in low wind

Flysurfer Outlaw :D nothing in the arcs - I've only got the 3 Synergy's now, 12, 15 and 19 ... love them in the high wind gusty crap we've had recently but ... well, just but

Kamikuza - 19-11-2010 at 06:02 AM

If you take my credit card, then the wife would take my balls  perhaps in a few months ...! I'd have to see how the market moves for the Synergys ...

Payment plans now available.

Wicked man! :Ange09:

PHREERIDER - 19-11-2010 at 06:46 AM

chargers are fast , for sure. they have good low end as well. right down to 7mph on land. which do you ride more the SYN 15 or 19?

Kamikuza - 19-11-2010 at 06:55 AM

19 so far ... 15 a few times but have yet to use the 12 :o

Bladerunner - 19-11-2010 at 07:51 AM

I am not getting the extra low wind from my 15m Charger that I think can be had ?

I haven't had enough days to get the strap adjustment right + don't think my style of flying helps? At the moment I seems to be too little difference for me to take advantage of? I'm enjoying the Syn more simpley because I am so used to it.

NOTHING beats really getting to know your kite !

Take Phreerider for example ripping it up with a smile on his face on a Venom.

Kamikuza - 19-11-2010 at 06:13 PM

How much of a difference in power between 12 and 15? I'd have the biggest kite without question, being The Fattest Kiteboarder in Japan™, but what about for the next step down?
I've not used my 12 yet, even in big bad-ass wind we had when the typhoon came through ... I'd probably use it more on the land but we don't have the space for landboarding with a big depower :( maybe snowkiting ...

BeamerBob - 19-11-2010 at 06:25 PM

Phreerider went from a venom 13 as his go to kite to a 15 charger instead of the 12 he thought it would be. Different projected area comparison. You are like me and probably are a 15/19 kinda guy.

i think it depends on what you do. if you ride wave/surf you dont need such a huge kite.

boosting big / twintip = more wind or bigger kite.

im a one kite quiver guy if i can ... i have used a SYN / CH 15 beyond its max.

go big or go home

Rip, have you found a limit on the water on the 15s? How much wind have you used a 15 in? Surely I can handle what your limit is with my 230 lbs.

i launched a 15 CH in 35 Knots, trimmed 50% in with the choppy waves I couldn't keep a straight line (feather weight) so i had to size down finally to BR's CH 10 trimmed 0%, full tight straps. board was a TT 128cm. still prefer butter flat water.

Kamikuza - 19-11-2010 at 08:05 PM

Like I've said, I've had the 19 Syn out in BIG winds - the other guy out was on a LEI 9 and was way-overpowered. I was on my Flydoor and a couple of gusts pulled me off my edge, but otherwise I was loving the mad power! I reckon it was 30 knots easy ...
I took the 15 out in similar conditions and it was good too but it didn't jump as easy - but I'm still learning that :) gust handling was lovely! Felt very comfy :)

BeamerBob - 19-11-2010 at 08:51 PM

Hearing this stuff makes me think my 15 Syn is my high winds kite! With a 19 as my regular "everyday" kite.

Kamikuza - 19-11-2010 at 09:02 PM

But what is good for The Fattest Kiteboarder in Japan™ may not be good for you :D

Spent an hour unpacking and inspecting my Synergy's ... they're in better condition than I remembered  the 12 is totally brand new :o the 15 and 19 show signs of use if you look closely at the bridle or pig tails, but the fabric is mint condition! They're a bit dusty from the beach at the lake though :( wish there was an easy way to wash them :)

Kamikuza - 20-11-2010 at 08:57 AM

Oh what a happy family!

The 19 ...

The 15 ...

The 12 ...

... and I'm loving our new houses big yard! It's bigger than the old house and that was the biggest yard in the 'hood by a country mile ... positively estate-like, this house!

Ohhhh how much for the 15? Obviously I'm searching like crazy for a 15m Charger or Synergy. I've been leaning towards the Synergy due to my budget :P

Cheers,
Seanny

Kamikuza - 20-11-2010 at 06:55 PM

Crikey! The vultures are circling  before you get too excited ... I'm still thinking and haven't really decided one way or other. The Synergy's are so purdy, and I have them already ... I should probably save money for like, NABX or something ;)

Yes I've got a couple of LEIs and the Flysurfer too ... but for snowkiting (hopefully this year!) and landboarding, I love the range and stability of the arcs. I used the Syn's on water cos their wind range is just massive out the top end and they're so forgiving. The LEIs are handy in some of the tight locations here that need assisted or drift launch or have such junk-filled beaches I don't want to put a nice foil down on :D

Kamikuza - 29-11-2010 at 05:26 PM

Actually ...

flyjump - 29-11-2010 at 05:51 PM

Seanny, thanks for the congrats. Kamikuza, I'm ordering my charger this week and hopefully it'll be here by this weekend!

Kamikuza - 29-11-2010 at 06:03 PM

Bastard

Selling my Synergy's to get Chargers would mean going from 3 sexy full colour kites to 2 sexy bland kites ... that's a tough call eh

Kamikuza - 29-11-2010 at 06:17 PM

Looking at the arc calculator (http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/mx5alan/arcs/wind_range.htm) it looks like the wind range on the Charger 15 and 19 are pretty damn close together ... would I be better off getting a 19 and a 12, d'ya reckon?

19 / 12 gets my vote

if i was spending your money than i would

S3 21m / S3 15m / CH 15 / CH 10

flyjump - 29-11-2010 at 06:40 PM

Kami how much are you selling your 12syn for? I may want to pick up some extras so I can teach people while I'm out flying. I'm not reallly sure what you should get but a 19 and 12 would definatly cover more range. I tried out the12 once and it had an insane low end. It really felt like a lei.

markite - 29-11-2010 at 09:17 PM

On a surfboard I'll ride my 15 Charger starting around 20kmh, below that I'd be working the kite, closer to 25 km would be sweet and easily into the mid 30's kmh to be powered. I've had great days riding a 12 Charger in the mid 30km range. We always get choppy water and waves - the 15 Charger isn't my light wind kite on water but it's gets you moving in winter easier.

That's almost 65kmh - so that's launching a 15 Charger in double the wind that I can ride a 12 in - that i would have liked to see. Can't imagine even staying on the ground at launch.

lucky for you ... we have a golden rule on this side of the country. no video, no proof, didnt happen. kitebuggy mama was at the shoreline taping with her iPhone 4, so i just need to grab the vid off her at some point.

talk is cheap, video says more.

markite - 29-11-2010 at 11:35 PM

Gotta see it, too funny. I like riding them really powered as well but at 35 Knots launching a 15, that's really intense. I'd probably be riding an 8 or 10 really powered up.

cheers buddy

video....video ....

Kamikuza - 29-11-2010 at 11:43 PM

No video at all but we've had 3 days of top winds in the last month, 25 to 30 knots easy. I used the 19 and the 15 Syn those first 2 days and actually preferred the 19. The 15 was ok but the jumps were more technical ... for my stage of skill.
The next day was 20 to 25 and I used my new 13m Xbow ... but wished I'd put up the 19 Syn :D I DID get video of that day - am editing it now ;)

That's on the water though ...!

markite - 29-11-2010 at 11:54 PM

I've ridden my 15 Charger and 16 Scorpion up to 45 km (25knots) but even fully depowered the kite is really powered when it gets moving and then it's just no fun to fly because you have the back lines so slack. It's just hanging on. It's just far better riding going to a kite that you can still throw around a little in the wind conditions.
kudos to you Kami holding down a 19 at 30 knots - HOOJ

Bottom line, I wished we lived closer. I'd love to get out flying with a lot more of you more often - then we'd have some good kick ass stories to tell and some good laughs. But you know someone would just get hurt trying to outdo the others so it's probably safer with some distance.

Kamikuza - 30-11-2010 at 12:01 AM

No problem for The Fattest Kiteboarder in Japan - I laugh at 30 knots! Ah ha ha! :karate: you should have seen the eyes bug out on the people who asked what size kite I was using

Dunno about the smaller FSers for me ... I've got a cheap Psycho3 13 on the way to see if I like it in stronger winds and trying to jump and stuff - for me now, the arcs and LEIs are just super-simple when it comes to stuffing jumps up and getting them back off the water ... too much tangling up of the FS worries me :D perhaps when I have more experience ...

Certainly want a S3 21 ...

no offense to the center of canada, but it would be cool be closer too.

that day, as stated above i did change to the CH10, it was more fun than fighting to keep both feet on the ground. one time I was OP with BR's SYN 15, and luckily BR and TDMC saw me with no ground traction and just grabbed my harness loop to bring me back. LOL.

too bad we only meet at NABX, you are coming this year right with ziggy?
can we have an earthquake to bring all the countries closer.

@Kami, you wanna pass some of the PHAT over to me, i could really use it. no offense! =)

Chase Nestlé sponsorship, PHAT will follow :D

Kamikuza - 30-11-2010 at 03:07 AM

Hey I got plenty to go around ... you want some too erratic?

erratic winds - 30-11-2010 at 03:17 AM

No mas phat for me, my best kiting buddy is Rip's size and makes me feel like a tank when I'm on a 10 and working it and he's park and ride on a 9!

PHREERIDER - 30-11-2010 at 10:50 AM

KK i don't really see you using the ch 12.

i think the ch19 /ch 15. they will out shine the syn. you're gonna need a gale to ride the 12.

flyjump - 30-11-2010 at 10:55 AM

I just got my 15m charger ordered and shipped today :D I'm also thinking about picking up a 12 CH, but I may hold off and pick up a phantom2 if they come out early next year. I guess we'll see what happens

I hope so - been talking about it with Ziggy. Most of the other Ontario guys that came down to NABX have been doing a big group Hatteras trip around the same time for spring time surfing - now so it's almost down to just Ziggy and I that talk about going any chance we can get. I have some serious NABX withdrawal after missing last year.

kitedelight - 3-12-2010 at 10:30 PM

wow, people must be dying to hear if you gonna sell or not. Synergies on the used market seem like water in the desert for arc flyers.

I another guy that might be interested in the 12 if you decide to sell. ;)

Kamikuza - 7-12-2010 at 06:36 PM

I keep starting a thread in the "For Sale" section, posting the pics then looking at them and thinking ... nah I should keep 'em

Seanny - 7-12-2010 at 06:52 PM

Kami is like a wounded animal encircled by a hungry pack of wolves :D As soon as he lets his guard down and the post appears in the For Sale section...

There won't even be enough of Kami left to find any evidence about who did it

Cheers,
Seanny
