East Coast/ Wildwood for December27- Jan1

flyjump - 3-12-2010 at 12:53 PM

A few friends of mine are wanting to go on a trip this winter and we'd like to meet up with you east coast guys if it were possible. I am thinking about meeting up at Wildwood since that is the place that I hear about the most from the East. We may drive up and down the coast and head up to the Boston area so Invertedforce can see his family. If you are interested please let me know. We can have a pkf family gathering. Plus I'd love to ride with as many people as possible :) I'll let people demo my new Trampa and PL gear if you want. Cheers!

Todd - 3-12-2010 at 01:29 PM

Low tide mid day would be towards the end of the week, I could take a day off to make it.

ragden - 3-12-2010 at 01:33 PM

Was already planning on heading up to Tug Hill for New Years, but if snow conditions are not favorable, and Wildwood has wind... Sure, I'll come out for the weekend... All depends on the snow conditions...
:)

shehatesmyhobbies - 3-12-2010 at 02:41 PM

Could probably swing it too! Keep us posted!

kteguru - 3-12-2010 at 03:37 PM

If invertedforce's family is in Boston stop by Nahant while your there. Its only a few minutes outside Boston and I'm sure a bunch of us will be able to join you.

flyjump - 3-12-2010 at 04:02 PM

This could be a week of incredible sessions with you guys. Even if the wind isn't up it'd still be nice to meet you guys.

InvertedForce - 3-12-2010 at 04:05 PM

My family is from Northwest RI, but if we come up as far as RI, it might be worth driving up to Mass/NH to meet up. We'll just go where the wind takes us!

kteguru - 3-12-2010 at 04:06 PM

Keep us posted if you end up coming up this way on that week. Looking forward to riding with you guys:thumbup::wee:

Going where the wind takes you....... I wish I could be that hardcore...........too many commitments:(.

flyjump - 3-12-2010 at 04:21 PM

Lol we are driving out there from Iowa a Missouri, so we kinda have to go where the wind takes us. I would go crazy if we drove out that way and didn't get any wind

kteguru - 3-12-2010 at 04:28 PM

:o:o 20+ hours on a whim.........that's hardcore. Come teach me your ways oh master kiter:smilegrin:

I guess I shouldn't complain about driving down to JIBE:lol:

flyjump - 3-12-2010 at 05:16 PM

I'll be at JIBE and on my honeymoon at the same time :) party time!

rocfighter - 6-12-2010 at 05:39 AM

We could make a trip up to Nahant to meet up with you guys if you go that far. Way closer then Wildwood. rocfighter and The Kidd

flyjump - 6-12-2010 at 05:46 AM

hopefully we can swing up that way. I've heard a lot about Nahant and wouldn't mind giving it a shot. I really hope we can meet up with you guys

rocfighter - 6-12-2010 at 05:58 AM

If you make it up your more than welcome to take some Skydogs SDT's for a try.

flyjump - 6-12-2010 at 07:14 AM

do you think it'll be all snowy up there? All I have is my Trampa board, I guess i could borrow a snowboard from a friend. After talking to invertedforce this morning on the phone, i'm pretty sure we'll be up in the new england area at somepoint during that week. If there's no wind, we should all grab a cold one together

ragden - 6-12-2010 at 07:26 AM

Last year we did a trip to Tugg Hill for New Years and had a blast. Year before that I think we were on Wildwood beach for New Years... It really depends on the weather. Some winters are good for snow... others not so much...

Snow doesn't really matter that much with Nahant. At high tide there really isn't much of a beach. Once the tide drops by about an hour its rideable. 4-5 hours on each side of low tide is doable year round depending on wind of course:smilegrin: . And at the south end of the beach is the Tides restaurant and bar for an afterkiting cold one:smilegrin:

kteguru - 6-12-2010 at 05:01 PM

Just checked the tides for that week at Nahant and low tide is afternoon for the latter part of the week which would make for some great riding time. Let us know what days you guys might make it up this way and I'm sure a bunch of us will be there:wee:

InvertedForce - 6-12-2010 at 05:04 PM

I'd say a good guess would be mid to late week Dec 29-31, around that time. I'd like to be in Boston for First Night, so I hope we plan on staying out there long enough to make that a reality.

kteguru - 6-12-2010 at 05:17 PM

Thurs the 30th I can do part of the day and Friday and Sat I can do the whole day. How about you Rocfighter? I'm sure doublespeed360 can make it as well as several others. Hopefully they'll chime in here.

rocfighter - 6-12-2010 at 07:14 PM

Let me see what the family has planned. But I think we can do at least one day. But hotels will be at a premium that weekend. So I daught we will be staying up there.

Todd - 24-12-2010 at 06:01 PM

Just to push this back to the top, we are looking at Tuesday or Friday for a day in Wildwood Crest. With the current storm coming in with of course play the roll on when it will be. Tuesday has great wind and high tide at 12:47. Friday has a great tide and low wind of about 9. All too far out to predict but I'm watching it carefully and the car will be packed tomorrow ready to take off in at moments notice.

Cross your fingers!

shehatesmyhobbies - 24-12-2010 at 06:05 PM

I really hope that I can work it out for Tuesday, that one could be questionable,...... Cough, cough, .... i don't know, maybe I can work it out just fine!

flyjump - 24-12-2010 at 06:41 PM

We are leaving Missouri tomorrow night after I get in from Phoenix, ready to meet up with any pkf'er who wants to join us

shehatesmyhobbies - 24-12-2010 at 08:08 PM

You will be here before you know it!

Jaymz - 24-12-2010 at 11:18 PM

WoooHooo! Sounds like a plan. Let's do it. Dress warm.

Todd - 25-12-2010 at 06:12 PM

:wow:

Anywhere from 6" to 15" in Wildwood, Tuesday might be tough but lets hope for the best

Sure looks like we're gonna get dumped on Sunday-Monday. Maybe some snow kiting in the local field on Tues.
Now where are those skis?

shehatesmyhobbies - 25-12-2010 at 09:26 PM

11pm update was 10 to 20 inches! So much for the storm that was going to miss us and only put about an inch on the ground!

Jamyz, I know where my skis are, I just don't have boots any more! Need to get some soon!

rocfighter - 26-12-2010 at 07:04 AM

Were looking at 10"to20" as well. Starting this afternoon. My skiis are all sharpened and waxed! But I think this will wreck the ice on the lakes.

labrat - 26-12-2010 at 01:22 PM

Safe travels on the East Coast & enjoy what the storm brings you.
Good luck all in getting together.

Looks like we will (mostly) miss out again.

InvertedForce - 26-12-2010 at 05:49 PM

We're seriously lacking snowkiting gear here. We've got all of our kites and our boards, but no snowboards/skis.

shehatesmyhobbies - 26-12-2010 at 05:55 PM

This storm is really putting a crinkle in our master plan! Will keep you guys posted on the weather, Todd is going to call LBJ tomorrow. (he is a local cop in WW) to see what the conditions are over there. I may possibly be able to secure one snowboard for the day. I will check in on that.

cheezycheese - 27-12-2010 at 08:22 AM

what's up now... gonna ride on a snow covered beach...? :Ange09:

Todd - 27-12-2010 at 08:36 AM

I'll be calling LBJ shortly but Friday is shaping up to be the day, it will have the best tides and now it shows wind! Waiting to hear if Adam and Paul are snowed in.

rocfighter - 27-12-2010 at 08:50 AM

Man I hope you don't get the winds we are having and supposed to get for the next week. It's gusting over 50mph and steady at about 20mph. To much to snow kite:no:

Todd - 27-12-2010 at 12:53 PM

*Official* Plan so to speak.

I just booked a room at the Days Inn for Thursday and Friday. Plan is to hopefully ride Fri/Sat and by the looks of things wind could be building for Saturday. This is still pretty far out and of course things may change weather wise.

Days Inn reported 18" and digging out so it should be clear upon arrival.

flyjump - 28-12-2010 at 10:42 AM

Friday and saturday it is....anybody who wants to join us is more than welcome. I'm gonna take some photos of everybody together and i'm gonna see if Marijn at PL will put some images from the trip on the PL website. come ride the sky with us!

Todd - 28-12-2010 at 10:49 AM

Rich had a good idea... meet on Thursday around 5 for pizza and suds. He has to go home right after Friday's session

flyjump - 28-12-2010 at 10:59 AM

we'd love to but we have a planned dinner with pauls family thursday night, we won't be able to get in till friday early morning. :( It's kinda funny because it is our only thing planned for the entire trip

shehatesmyhobbies - 28-12-2010 at 03:27 PM

Adam, still looking forward to getting on the beach! We can always have some suds in April! See you on Friday!

flyjump - 28-12-2010 at 04:14 PM

Rich, Friday will be rad no matter what. Can't wait to meet you!

rocfighter - 29-12-2010 at 04:49 PM

So you guys gonna be snow buggying on the beach? We have had a change in our planns and we need to go in a new dirrection. So is NJ passable yet? And are there any hotels open in Wildwood?
OH please info folks let me know:singing:

shehatesmyhobbies - 29-12-2010 at 05:04 PM

Not sure how much snow is actually on the beach, but we are going none the less. Best I can say is we are planning on being there Thursday night round 5 pm and will be able to give a better update on the beach itself! Unless Todd hears from Joe Cat!

flyguy0101 - 29-12-2010 at 05:19 PM

Woooooo it's gonna be sick!

Todd - 29-12-2010 at 06:00 PM

We'll watch the weather,

LBJ was at the convention center looking out the window as we spoke, might be a trudge to the water front but other than that it'll be rocking with the low tide. Corey is already upset because he knows that he will be sleeping on the floor at the hotel.

Corman - 29-12-2010 at 06:17 PM

Looks like I'll be packing some extra pillows...

Can't wait to see everyone out there!

rocfighter - 29-12-2010 at 06:30 PM

Well guys it looks like we are going to be heading north to the Bershires. More fun for every one not just the buggy part of the family. (You know the ladies in my family aren't such buggiers):puzzled: So skiing it will be for the weekend.
I hope you guys have a great time. And I want to see all the videos of all the fun stuff I'm missing!:D
Dave.

Todd - 30-12-2010 at 04:39 PM

A clear walk down to the beach with just one snow drift to hurdle, ready for some wind now.

shehatesmyhobbies - 30-12-2010 at 06:43 PM

Ahhhh the beach is literally within reach! Right across the street!

flyjump - 30-12-2010 at 07:11 PM

We should be rolling into town about 7 am

shehatesmyhobbies - 30-12-2010 at 07:14 PM

Good deal, we are right across the street from the convention center parking lot! Rooms 401 and 402. Phones will be on by then! Have a safe trip in!

WELDNGOD - 30-12-2010 at 07:46 PM

Easy guys...this is a family site. ;-)
What are they calling for wind tomorrow?

shehatesmyhobbies - 31-12-2010 at 04:44 AM

The winds are supposed to be right at about 9-10 from the SW. Not perfect conditions, but we are going to have a good time either way!

WELDNGOD - 31-12-2010 at 05:52 AM

Mmmmmmm..... Wildwood.

Chad - 31-12-2010 at 08:23 AM

Have fun and be safe! Happy New Year........

shehatesmyhobbies - 31-12-2010 at 03:54 PM

Just got back myself, wish I could have stayed longer! It was a great morning on the beach. The winds like said before were not the best, but Adam, Paul, Jordan, and Scott all got some good time in on some PL twinskins! It was a great time just hanging with the guys, like sitting at WW any other day when the winds are not favorable, just a little colder! Some good wipeouts, some good jumps, and even a quick buggy run by a few of us. They are going to have pretty good winds tomorrow and more fly time for sure. Have fun guys.

Happy New Year!

Corman - 31-12-2010 at 04:58 PM

Glad to hear you got back safe. Have fun with the family! Dad and I say hello.

It's been fun so far, besides the wind. Fell in about 3 ft of snow towards the beach... fun

Can't wait for tomorrow, calling some great wind, hope to get some good rides.

shehatesmyhobbies - 31-12-2010 at 05:52 PM

Glad to hear you fell in the snow, oops I mean dang you fell in the snow.:lol: Bet everyone had a good belly laugh over that one! Have a great time tomorrow Cor! Let it rip! Thing big, but not broken!

rocfighter - 1-1-2011 at 06:59 PM

I hope you are all having fun. We are in mid state NY in Cortland at the oldest son's house. Lots of snow when we got here. Luckily we skied in Berkshires on the way here. It has all melted since we got here! OH AND NO WIND! not even enough to play with the rev.
Nice pics. Lets see some more. :D

ragden - 3-1-2011 at 06:48 AM

Sounds like you guys had a good time... Glad to hear it.. Was worried you might not have enough wind to make it worthwhile...
:)

Jaymz - 3-1-2011 at 11:30 AM

Can't see page 3 ?!!:puzzled:.......Grrrrrr

Fixed, changed my view count from 50 to 100 per page

flyjump - 3-1-2011 at 12:21 PM

wind was really low, but enough to get in a some short powerslides. it was great to ride on the beach for the first time. i found out that falling on hardpack sand hurts compared to grass. I think there is still sand in me ears. I got to me todd, corey, rich, and scott while we were out there. I found out that they are all really crazy and Todd is the biggest kook i've ever met, wicked cool though! I'm proud to be a part of the same team as him. I can't wait to see you all in april!

shehatesmyhobbies - 3-1-2011 at 03:05 PM

It was definitely good times regardless of the winds! Ready to do it all over again!

flyjump - 3-1-2011 at 06:06 PM

Started to document the trip on the nowhereboys blog. Check it out at nowhereboyskiteboarding.blogspot.com. Feel free to leave comments and ideas! You are all welcome to check it out
