Rofl!!!

shaggs2riches - 17-6-2011 at 06:32 PM

Hey I'm curious if someone can explain how you work your way up to peppers like that. My assumption is that you just start low and work your way up as it becomes more tolerable. I was just reading that there are a lot of health benefits from eating stuff like that, so now I'm kinda interested in it. I throw jalapenos on all my subs, so thinking that might be a good place to start.

Drewculous - 17-6-2011 at 06:53 PM

I make jolokia sauce (was hottest pepper, around 1 million scoville) on everything... Ive always liked hot food tho.... Switch from jalapenos to thai or cayennes, then habaneros, then you'll be a true pepper head!

I ate a couple cayennes with breakfast, had two habs on a buritto, and ate a whole habanero to shut some guy up lol.... All with a smile on my face
That just today lol

Peppers are their own food group in my book

shaggs2riches - 17-6-2011 at 08:03 PM

Where would hot paprika fall into the scheme of things???? I have a bottle of this stuff and some added to some food makes things really tasty.

Drewculous - 17-6-2011 at 09:44 PM

Not sure, there ARE many types of red paprika, some are made from sweet red peppers with 0 heat... I've tried to find the hot stuff just to try it, but haven't been able to find any....

If that's the orangeish brownish paprika, youre prolly burning past cayennes... Cayennes are like 60k scoville iirc.... And from what I've read, that's where the top tier spicy paprika sits... Should be tasty, paprika is a sweet pepper!

shaggs2riches - 17-6-2011 at 09:59 PM

Well it tastes real good on dumplings, I know that much. My friend gave me the bottle, cuz she uses it for her hot chicken and dumplings. Apparently she uses 1 tbs for like two crockpots full.

Drewculous - 17-6-2011 at 10:11 PM

Is it orange or red?

shaggs2riches - 18-6-2011 at 09:37 PM

just checked, and its orange.....bought me some grace hot sauce. Put a bunch in a bowl of Mr.Noodles, I swear I sweated out two glasses of water by the time I was done. Has a real nice taste to accompany the heat.

For a real treat stop up at CrooS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K-s in Black Hawk, CO and order the Raspberry Ghost ice cream.

The chef there makes his own ice cream among a bunch of other yummy things.

It is a blend of raspberries and ghost peppers. You get that cool creamy fruity blast followed by some real heat. It is outrageously good.

They also have a decadent Aztec ice cream which is made with dark chocolate and cayenne pepper. It is to die for with a hot kahlua and coffee.

BTW CrooS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K-s is the oldest bar in Colorado. Many famous outlaws have drank at the bar that was brought up from St. Louis.

shaggs2riches - 20-6-2011 at 07:24 PM

OMG that ice cream sounds amazing. I think it was on this forum that I learned about a spicy hot fudge to put on ice cream.

Drewculous - 20-6-2011 at 08:33 PM

lol i think i posted that fudge syrup

Drewculous - 27-6-2011 at 06:49 PM

fyi:
good advice for everyone... wash your hands after eating obscenely spicy food.... man i didn't, and nature called... i am hurting in a completely wrong way :o

shaggs2riches - 27-6-2011 at 07:24 PM

lol I cut some Jalapenos for my pizza on Friday and did that. Only funny if you want to see a man jumping up and down in agony not knowing what to do. Oh and I managed to put down a whole bottle of that sauce today between three meals. Not as hot as the first time I tasted it, but my mouth burned for a while after finishing the bottle in my noodles. Got one more in the cupboard, gonna get more on Friday.

shaggs2riches - 27-6-2011 at 07:31 PM

Now this is funny.....

After reading that my wife gave me the worst glare she's ever given me. I think you've officially named something more painful than childbirth.:o

Drewculous - 28-6-2011 at 05:33 AM

Ahahahahahahaha!
:lol::

shaggs2riches - 30-6-2011 at 05:49 PM

I just picked my nose (forgive me but it was itchy) after eating a hot dog saturated in that chilli sauce:embarrased:. Now the damn thing won't stop burning and is running non-stop. Maybe a new remedy for plugged sinuses.

Kamikuza - 30-6-2011 at 06:41 PM

So, can the heat actually damage your body or is it just a nerve thing?

shaggs2riches - 30-6-2011 at 09:59 PM

I read somewhere that when you eat the REALLY hot peppers, that it does cause a bit of chemical type burn to your insides. Kinda scary when you think of it that way.

Of course that is just anecdotal evidence.

Drewculous - 1-7-2011 at 06:29 AM

im just waiting for my butch t's to sprout! only planted 4, its late in the season, but i figure i'll bring them in this winter, and i'll have full grown plants at the start of the season next year... maybe even get a few fruits this winter
:wee:

the common misconception is that hot food causes heatburn.... on the subject of spicy illness... but in fact peppers are rarely to blame for heartburn, 99% of the time its the amount of grease in a given food or acid content... lol i get heatburn from margaritas (the acid from the lime) all the time.... my eggs and habaneros this morning, no heatburn here... just a warm tummy that'll catch up to me later

The Szeged Paprika is the best out there. Available in better markets. It comes in sweet and hot varieties. Sweet is just that, with less heat and the hot variety if flavorful without being too flaming. I use both in Goulash and Paprikas recipes.

I also have some of Drew's Jolakia pepper (dried powdered) and make a sauce with vinegar. Sweet, smokey and HOT. I am careful when handling the raw powder and treat it as a hazmat.

Drewculous - 11-7-2011 at 06:23 PM

planted 4 Butch t seeds

now have 4 sprouts

side note... chili cookoff is this weekend at the famous Oregon Trail Days!! Wish me and my Bhut Jolokias luck!!
...and pray for those that dare eat my chili! :ninja:

:singing::singing::singing:

WIllardTheGrey - 12-7-2011 at 11:02 AM

Just found this at Fredies, had to try it. Kinda disappointed not as hot as I was hoping. But still great on chips.

Drewculous - 12-7-2011 at 11:49 AM

I order my jolokias from a guy in Texas... reasonably priced, awesome product... way cheaper than 99% everything labeled ghost chiles.... shoot me a u2u if you want the page for him...

of course if this winter goes well, ill have some butch t's if you want some.... going to plant 20 more plants in december or january.. if my cloning goes well ill have a tone of em.... HELL YEAH!

we have mrs. r's around here, might have to try some... good find

Drewculous - 7-9-2011 at 10:33 AM

do want to grow faster!

had to add a little bone meal, the leaves are scrunching up.... and i think the soil still has a little too much fertilizer in it.... if the leaves dont mellow out soon, i may add a little nitrogen just to see if the color comes back.... but when in doubt, less ferts are better!

Bought some Dorset Nagas a year or so ago (seeds) but they never gave me any fruit - they were supposed to be the most dangerous peppers in the world (over a million scovilles)...
