i had a bit of an accident the other day and need to sew the heavy-duty spar enclosure on a peter lynn...
you know where the velcro folds over itself?? ... right there at the end .... i need to sew about 2", and its gotta be heavy duty equipment...
any ideas on where to find such things??Drewculous - 16-6-2011 at 12:20 PM
If its only 2" id do it by hand.... Industrial sewing machines are spendy...
Let susan chime in, im sure she knows what line to use, and the best way to go about it....
Easy fix... Duct tape lolBeamerBob - 16-6-2011 at 12:24 PM

worst case scenario... i take a trip to corpus and have the guys at fixmykite give it a once over.. prob only take about 10 seconds for them to fix...
then i can go kitesurf tridude - 16-6-2011 at 12:54 PM

Have you tried a sewing awl? The stock needle is great for sewing webbing, for a kite #4 needle would be better.kitemaker4 - 16-6-2011 at 08:21 PM
Van would be closer than me to sew it up with an industrail sewing machine. There are some other good ideas here.

add a small pc. of webbing if it has lost alot of material integrity. any generous size needle, floss and act like a machine. not as much pressure
as u think in the area when in use.
stitch should be firm BUT not distorting . be aware of layers of material and include when appropriate. small zip ties can be quicker and give
harden element to those who gaze at it, but they can become brittle over time about a year.dawicks - 17-6-2011 at 08:27 AM
I am not an expert, but I am almost done my second NPW and one thing I have learned about sewing is PRACTICE on something similar before you dive into
the real thing. You can think about it and read about doing the repair all you want but you won't learn all there is to learn until you do it... so
learn your lessons on some old scraps or an old kite or something.van - 17-6-2011 at 03:23 PM
Dylan .. I'm shock .. :o you know you are welcome to my sewing machine anytime. I'm just down the street from you. Didn't you see the post of the
repair I did to the pocket on the 15m phantom? Bring it over, I even have the heavy duty seat belt material that you need to do the repair.dylanj423 - 17-6-2011 at 10:24 PM
no van, i didnt see that... i didnt know you had kite sewing equipment, too... i should have thought to give you a call, tho... ill shoot you a text
