Camping or hotel?

kiteboyza - 12-7-2011 at 01:58 PM

Ok so I ruled out hauling my trailer, it's way to far.

So camping is good with me if there is a place to have a shower at the end of the day. Any such luxuries available?

Failing that it's hotel time.

Thanks for any information

Im coming prepped for camping but if its too #@%$#!ty or I really need a rinse ill check in somewhere. That's the plan for the moment anyway.

ripsessionkites - 12-7-2011 at 02:30 PM

hotel

kiteboyza - 12-7-2011 at 04:19 PM

which one has the best Chinese Buffet then Rip?

ripsessionkites - 12-7-2011 at 04:37 PM

none, i didnt see any chinese diners around ... but i hear Dino may come up to give a happy ending.

Fort Stevens State Park is right there with really good amenities and a very friendly atmosphere - weekends will be busy so book in advance (like now). The rates are obviously much more reasonable during the week.

Just to confirm - temps expected to be around the 60's? Is that overnight?

Nope, that's daytime temps. Overnight usually drops about 10 degrees or so.

Bladerunner - 13-7-2011 at 06:39 AM

It drops below the dew point every night. Expect everything to be wet every morning.

Many days remain cool and damp. Be ready for a high of 12c ( sub 60f ) and damp all day. VERY possible !

csa_deadon - 13-7-2011 at 10:08 PM

For the Buggy camp crew, Fort Stevens will allow you to just use the showers for about $2.00.

As Jim stated 60's is the day time temp. The camp fire and the beverages tend to keep us warm enough at night.

Thing about buggy camp is it is "roughin it"
Phil has a port-a-potty on site. Meals are under a small event tent. You are exposed to the elements (just ask vwbrain). But the experience at camp is worth the trade off.

WIllardTheGrey - 14-7-2011 at 12:33 AM

Is there a spot to pitch a tarp and hammock at buggy camp? No matter what I'm camping just like the hammock best.

csa_deadon - 14-7-2011 at 09:16 PM

No place to tie off between two trees. If you have a hammock stand, yea plenty of places.

canuck - 14-7-2011 at 09:22 PM

If you want the Motel 6, I found a coupon code that gives you 10% off - use CP545856.

macboy - 14-7-2011 at 09:26 PM

I've been officially swayed in the "camping" direction. Please don't pull my tent down on me ; )

Looking forward to being the first one rolling on the beach every morning! (Yeah right....)

csa_deadon - 14-7-2011 at 11:36 PM

macboy when are you showing up?

kiteboyza - 15-7-2011 at 08:17 AM

I'll get there sometime Friday 2nd September, leaving home early Thursday morning

macboy - 15-7-2011 at 02:54 PM

Ditto that arrival. May swing wide to rendezvous with the BC crew and head down in the convoy meaning I'll leave home Thursday am, hit Van, crash and then hit the road for Seaside.OT herwise I'll leave home Thursday AM and point right to SOBB from here.

Departure - TBD.

Bladerunner - 15-7-2011 at 08:55 PM

I am booked and tried the code. I think I will not be able to use it without proof I am from some group she quoted?

ripsessionkites - 16-7-2011 at 02:52 AM

CoolB, Mama, and myself are coming in THU and leaving MON (first weekend)

i have yet to make arrangements but looks like we're at the Microtel again unless something is cheaper in a Motel / Hotel.

fun fun fun :wee:

jellis - 16-7-2011 at 10:32 AM

The Great Wall Restaurant is the best Ricky food around. Motel 6 is nicer than the MicroTel and has bigger rooms at a better price.

I liked the room i got once at sunset lake. Granted i had to let Eli controll the tv, but the staff had coffee ready in the morning! :)

macboy - 16-7-2011 at 03:08 PM

Ooooh......coffee.......is there communal coffee on the beach or is it each to their own? I don't mind either way - can bring stove and coffee gear but need to know. NEED to know.

Regardless there will be a big old bottle of Bailey's brought from the duty free for sharesies ; )

csa_deadon - 16-7-2011 at 10:33 PM

@ macboy......Dude I don't go anywhere without my coffee maker! There will be coffee in camp every morning. The beach is a fill up before ya go, or hit one of the many coffee shops either on the way, or out of the way to the beach.

ripsessionkites - 17-7-2011 at 12:12 AM

I liked the Microtel waffle maker in the morning. Lol.
Not to mention we got the rate at 67.00 USD per day. That's like 50.00 CDN. Hahaha.

Sweet, American Chinese food. Will give a try.

Free buggy parking at Sunny J's House again??

jellis - 17-7-2011 at 05:06 PM

Lots of buggy patking room at SOBB lake side headquarters. Eduardo and a friend will be here from Mexico this year.
I heard John Romonic sold his buggy for a gun.

kiteboyza - 18-7-2011 at 10:28 AM

stetson05 - 24-8-2011 at 05:25 AM

Morrie Williams - 24-8-2011 at 07:45 AM

Buggy camp is open for business on the 2nd, several of us will be there in the afternoon.

Thanks Morrie,

Looks like it will be high tide Friday afternoon so getting there early will be better. All the more reason to start out early !

jellis - 24-8-2011 at 06:53 PM

Should Jim and i go to the beach and wait for you? Bladerunner!

Bladerunner - 25-8-2011 at 06:23 AM

Nobody should wait for us.

Get out and ride !

I have a strong feeling I may not get out on the beach if the approach is as bad as described?

Morrie Williams - 25-8-2011 at 10:24 AM

Sean and Eli should be there on the 1st. Maybe we can get an onsite report from them.

jellis - 25-8-2011 at 10:52 AM
