I'm brand new to this sport and to this forum - just wanted to introduce myself and say hi to everyone. I took a kiting lesson practiced a LOT with
trainer over the last month or so. Just bought an ozone flow 3.0 and an ozone flow 5.0 (for snowkiting).
I got out on the landboard for first time last weekend (at Nahant Beach, Mass - Great spot!!) with the 3.0 in 10 to 15 mph wind and had an absolute
BLAST!!! All I can think about now is wind, wind, wind. I find myself watching weather channel all the time, downloaded a bunch of apps on iphone
for wind, watching leaves/trees for wind movement, etc.
Is it normal to be think about this stuff constantly all day? Are you folks the same way? I can hardly wait for snow to try snowkiting!!
Pray for wind!!!greasehopper - 18-8-2011 at 05:46 AM
Welcome to the happy little obsession for which there is no cure. (primarily because we see little reason looking for one... )
Enjoy the ride.PHREERIDER - 18-8-2011 at 05:52 AM
welcome, wind disease is distracting but normal
find one local weather station that reflects your spot best and you'll have better success with solid useable fun sessions.
NOAA graphical for the big picture of the weeks and systems and a local well placed wind speed/direction report like wunderground (you need to KNOW
where this thing is and how high and any shadow points)Kamikuza - 18-8-2011 at 06:01 AM
Welcome!
Yes it's normal - which is abnormal Telestrat - 18-8-2011 at 06:06 AM
Wow. You folks are FAST on the replies!! Heading down to Cape Cod (Chatham) this weekend and hoping to get some landboarding in. I'll tell ya what
I definately WON'T be doing down there.....kiteboarding on the water. Check out the link below.....
You,ve got all the signs and symptoms of a serious addiction. You've come to the right place , PKF is like one stop shopping for feeding your
addiction and consoling you after each kite purchase. "Thats a great kite ...jumps higher...floats longer... super gust mucher...wont find it any
cheaper...quick turning...great customer support............" Welcome , have fun.Cheddarhead - 18-8-2011 at 12:04 PM
Welcome to the forum! Haven't found a better forum and people to support the addiction. Lots of knowledge and support to be had here, including good
deals on kite gear. Sounds like your off to a great start, keep the stoke goin!chudalicious - 18-8-2011 at 12:53 PM

I'm afraid so. Every year when I buy a new financial diary, the first thing that gets written in it are kiting meets and low tides. All my customers
get juggled around them. I was never a 'beach' person. Now, it's where I want to be all the time.

True, we cannot control the wind. But we can control what size kite we put up, or we can say, nope, too gusty and unpredictable. Better to put up a
smaller kite and think - 'not enough, I'll put a bigger one up' than doing the opposite and thinking 'Oh sh i i i i i i i i i i i i it t tttt'

Welcome.
The disease cannot be cured. Symptoms can be relieved by getting your heinie out there when the leaves are rustling. Symptoms become aggravated when
the wind is up and other commitments prevail. For that, I prescribe PKF BID.WELDNGOD - 18-8-2011 at 03:46 PM
Welcome to the fold. I'm glad to see yet another one ,down with the sickness! It's terminal I'm afraid.... No known cure.... just flying.....:wee:pyro22487 - 18-8-2011 at 03:51 PM

Welcome to our sport and yes we all spend a lot of time checking and thinking about the wind. I am sure you had blast, but I have to tell you it will
get even better as you become more proficient.
I am glad you discovered Nahant. It is my primary flying location and a great place to fly. All of the flyers there are quite approachable and are
willing to share their knowledge and equipment. Next time your down stop and say hi and we would love to help.
