Ah suck it up man, when you said I do, you said it to the family as well.
When the out laws move in and you get moved out, then you got the right to wine with your cheese.
I gave up 35 years ago and I thank the good Lord they haven't moved in yet. My biggest worry is having to change my fatherinlaws Attends when he has an accident.
Do what I do, Bar-B-Que for everyone and get drunk till they go home.:wee:

Sorry, forgot you haven't been married for very long. She hasn't trained you very well yet.:tumble::tumble::tumble:

Well said Jeff. Adam, this is among the first of many challenges.

Just make sure the guest room is never too comfortable.

Pop another beer.

Jaymz - 20-9-2011 at 03:44 PM

You shouldn't have to take thier crap in your own house!!! Tell'em straight up, knock it off and play nice.
I guess we all have MONSTER-in-laws of some sort after we get married.
I always tell my mother-in-law (we're like oil and water) she'll always be my FAVORITE mother-in-law...and she says I'll always be her favorite son-in-law. I married her only daughter ;-)

flyjump - 20-9-2011 at 03:54 PM

Hahaha! Angus ill make sure theyre not too comfortable

Feyd - 20-9-2011 at 05:37 PM

In case I didn't say so earlier...

BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA (big inhale) BAAAAAAAAAAAHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!

Look, just be glad that they don't live just up the street from you. How would you like you mother in law poppin' by unannounced while you're bare ass naked because you showered upstairs and forgot the clean laundry in the laundry room downstairs? I'll tell ya what, it sucks. The first time is kinda embarrasing. The second and third times are just plain creepy.

Kamikuza - 20-9-2011 at 05:52 PM

Sissy man! Your OWN home ...?

"#@%$#!es. There is the door. If you don't like it here, I suggest you use it."

labrat - 20-9-2011 at 05:57 PM

I have been avoiding putting my two cents into this thread. I don’t want my opinions in writing. You and Her will figure this out over many painful years.

My in-laws are 4.2 miles away and I have to go there almost every single day. Unless I am BANNED AGAIN, then my wife has to go.

Also, my experiences don’t matter, because WOW!!! :o Feyd wins...

flyjump - 20-9-2011 at 06:32 PM

heres the kicker though.....we are renting their house from them because they got jobs in the next state and moved in two weeks. so we are renting it as a favor to them. sure it helps us since its a bit cheaper. so the problem happens to be that technically it is their house. so they like to use guilt tactics to make it work.

if i owned it it'd be a no brainer, but they think its ok since its theirs. we even did the paper work to make it legal. that's why i'm frustrated.

if it was my own, they wouldn't even be staying with me.

now do you see the problem?

Kamikuza - 20-9-2011 at 06:41 PM

#@%$#! that #@%$#!. Move out and see how they like having no tenants and no income.

Guilt-tripping is just another form of bullying and I #@%$#!in' hate bullies

shaggs2riches - 20-9-2011 at 09:18 PM

I guess everyone has issues with in-laws at one time or another. Mine really aren't that bad, we will agree to disagree, and leave it alone. Then again we are almost half the country apart from each other so that might help matters. While we're on the subject of scary in-laws and lack of jewels......

A friend of the family probably took the most crap I've seen from his in-laws..Whenever his mother and father in-law visited they took over the master bedroom and the daughter and son in-law had to sleep on the floor and couch due to their lack of spare beds. Their dog had to be put in a kennel because mommy and daddy's puppy didn't like their dog. Our friend had an old truck he was slowly fixing up in his garage, the other garage space was for their newer car. When the in-laws came they would make him completely clean the garage, roll the project out of the garage into the driveway, and the new car was to be parked onto the street. Mother and father in-law often drove separate vehicles down, and god forbid their 88 Buick and 91 Ford half ton ever parked on the street. The in-laws went to bed before ten every night and would throw a fuss if everyone else in the house didn't do the same. Often they would call as they were just pulling into town, and the visits would last as long as three weeks in the summer months. There is a ton of other junk that went on, but you get the main jist of things. He was with her for 17 years, 12 of them they lived together, and always the same whenever they were around. He finally left her when he caught her sleeping with one of his old friends. The mother and father in-law called him the most childish son in-law ever because he wouldn't forgive her. To them it was his fault that she cheated, he should have been more supportive to her needs.........:crazy:

Kamikuza - 20-9-2011 at 10:35 PM

U want some ghost chiles adam?

Just go fly your kite.... I know you, and the main reason youre so bugged is cuz you haven't flown in a bit... So go fly your kite, make something for them with my peppers, the go have some "austrailian oregano"... And itll all pass before you know it

Or, ya know..... Always hard liquor
"if you were too drunk to remember them, did they actually show up?"

Good luck, awkward family stuff sucks! We ve all been there!

flash - 21-9-2011 at 07:01 AM

just walk from the bedroom to the kitchen through the family in the morning awake and naked.... If they complain say something along the lines of 'eh... its my house'. This doesn't work in my family cause they are used to it... but we are abnormal, and most other in laws would be shocked. Especially when you bend over to pick up something from the carpet and show mom-in-law the backside. :)

flyjump - 21-9-2011 at 07:09 AM

flash, this is random but i may be in Colorado sometime this year for some snow kiting. we should meet up. my best friends lives in Fort collins and i want to visit soon, and its a good excuse to go snow kiting

Drewculous - 21-9-2011 at 07:26 AM

Just tell them they will be more than welcome to stay from 10/20 thru 10/24, and make sure you're in Wildwood, N.J. then.

Would love to have you here at the Dillon Snowkite open, Adam.

We only seem to have one PL rider a year show up, and for the last two it's been g-force junkie! MOAR PL PLZ

rocfighter - 23-9-2011 at 03:54 PM

Being nude helped with our nosey neibor. I sit out in the yard nude and she stopped coming over to peek at what we are doing with our projects. (she is a terrible person)

buggydanny - 23-9-2011 at 05:01 PM

Adam

I think you are living too close to your in laws; you have to put some more distance between yourselves. If it were a 1,000 mile drive you would see them much less frequently.

How attached are you and Joy to Springfield?

How attached are you to your students?

There is demand for teachers all over the country.

I think that you would be much farther away on the east or west coast or in the high desert of the SW. Also I here the wind might be better there too.

PrairieWind - 23-9-2011 at 05:49 PM

My M.I.L. stopped by for our daughter's 2nd birthday and didn't leave for 3 weeks. The fact that she was going to stay for that long was not communicated at all... . What I thought was a couple of days of M.I.L. mayhem became weeks (not knowing when the hell she was going to leave was the worst). I feel for you bro.

Our old house had terrible guest quarters,... Unfortunately our new house is a "little too comfortable" for guests.

My vote is to make the guest room fairly uninviting if possible. Turn it into a craft room for large rude paper mache projects that will be sure to offend. Tell them it is a class project.

g00fba11 - 23-9-2011 at 06:08 PM

cooking the burgers and steaks rare to medium rare took care of my issue..... all they had to do is hear I was cooking..... my in laws would run out the house yelling "sangre, sangre" "mi yerno es un vampiro"

and always always put ice in their pepsi......
