Don, the new convention center construction is on or ahead of schedule but the detour is still in place for now. I think it will be done for JIBE,

fellas, I'm out. I'm running on MayPops all around on my truck, so funds gotta be kept aside for that.
I definitely plan on a November trip, maybe even with the Kite Fort for the weekend. Angus, you think the JIA would have an issue with me parking the
Fort for the day and then heading to the camp ground at night?PHREERIDER - 28-10-2011 at 04:56 PM

noon so no rush there.BeamerBob - 30-10-2011 at 09:04 AM

St. Augustine was crazy today. With 23mph on shore, the tide was higher than I had ever seen it--and that was an hour before high tide. :-)
Sadly, we couldn't stay 'til it got low enough to buggy.
Philiptridude - 31-10-2011 at 10:04 AM
yes high tide and big rollers at JI yesterday..........Ive never seen Jekyll anywhere near that large........nfleech took off right away and put on a
clinic with his 9m Hadlow..................Phreerider was rockin on his 9m SK, and I put up the 9m Wainman Smoke. Have to say that was some big angry
water but I fared well althought I got tired rather quickly this being my 3rd water session in 9 months. Once the water moved out Angus was stylin and
profilin in the Invanpah with this 3.5m Rage. Awesome day had by all! As usual the kites drew alot of attention from photgraphers and bypassers.
Awesome surf and turf session on the JI!!!!thanson2001ok - 31-10-2011 at 10:12 AM

definitely swollen for JI. Angus and i ran til about 5 , ATB and buggy fartin' around with gopro . Vii13 pulled the land ride and rinse ride on the
water.
AIR CIRCUS for sure!acampbell - 31-10-2011 at 02:38 PM
The wind was actually NE - my typo - and averaged about 20 all afternoon. On the way to the beach over Rt. 25 I saw whitecaps *IN THE SALT MARSH*,
the tide was so high. So as it finally ran out we were reaching for all the beach space we could and running in to the surf line for more hardpack,
timing my tacks with the rhythm of the surf. I quit when I could not see through the splatter on my glasses. Chad and I traded wearing his GoPro
and we got some good shots, I'm sure, with Chad catching great air and hang time on the ATB and Venom 13.
Don, thanks for dragging me out and great to see you riding again. Nate was really carving it up with the Hadlow Pro with some great air and
kite-loops. Great riding!!
Thanks all for a great day!tridude - 30-1-2012 at 05:13 PM

Hey guys!
Long time. Planning a trip with the fam late Feb. to Ft. Desoto in FL but may take a warm up trip to Jekyll or Sullivan's either this weekend or
next. Just picked up a used FS Speed 3 deluxe and I'm itching to try it out!
Gregpbc - 31-1-2012 at 08:10 PM
Keep an eye on that forecast. The favorable on shore winds have moved from Saturday to Friday, but there's 24 hours of on shore winds arriving
Monday-Tuesday.
Please, oh please, oh please!

Saturday looks good with SE winds forecast and low tide near noon. I have to work after 1 pm but may try a morning ride. Sunday better for me but
winds planned for SW.
I will say that I have lately seen a lot more on-shore winds. Too early to call an end to "winter" here, but the regular afternoon sea-breeze
on-shores are but weeks awayPHREERIDER - 1-2-2012 at 07:26 AM
from today friday looks premium , SAT bout the same. roughly a noon low so . all ready by 11-12 would maximize the trip
greg if you got the fever FRI/SAT is gonna help, come gets some!
SAT meet is on the table for JI ...prolly not a water day, but for the gear enhanced access is availablekitedog - 1-2-2012 at 11:43 AM

Friday is ramping up, and prolly the best day for the water for sure, i won't be able to make it til SAT.
anyone gonna go SAT.? greg are you there til SAT?pbc - 2-2-2012 at 11:09 AM
I'm trying hard to arrange Saturday. I need to take care of one more bit of business before I am sure I can do it.
My plan is to leave Gainesville at 6 to arrive at Jekyll by 9, buggy 'til the tide gets too high, then head home. The conditions to do look great and
it would be great to see some of the SOFKA crowd.
Philipacampbell - 2-2-2012 at 12:10 PM
NOAA says NE 20 kts Friday and east 15 Saturday.
Low tide 10:52 am Fri, 11:45 am Sat.
I'm in until about 3pm Fri and Noon Sat.PHREERIDER - 2-2-2012 at 12:43 PM

Wahoo. Now if i can just remember the security combination to the Kite Kave where the Kitemobile is stored....
Oh crap...kitedog - 2-2-2012 at 07:20 PM
Landed in Brunswick this evening. High 70's! We'll be at either Jekyll of St. Simon's tomorrow based on conditions. Have to drive back tomorrow
night. Hoping for good wind.PHREERIDER - 2-2-2012 at 08:12 PM
st. simon has better flats , but the NE, ENE can get ragged, the roughest front side stuff we get. the low tide is not so low if NE revs up.
FRI should be nice, its swinging east and that sweetens it. the previous have been nice. hmmmm may downwind to TYBEE island from here.
the sand bar at JI sets up nice at low as well. hopefully clear AND warm!pbc - 2-2-2012 at 09:06 PM
I am now clear to visit Jekyll on Saturday.
I sure hope the forecast holds. The wind directions are diverging between the Windfinder hourly and 3-hour forecasts.
Philippbc - 3-2-2012 at 05:20 AM
The forecasts at St. Augustine and Jekyll differ, but seem equally good given the relative orientation of the beaches. I'm trying to drum up support
in Gainesville to either join us at Jekyll or to get a crew to go to St. Augustine.
tomorrow, the eastern left overs at JIpbc - 3-2-2012 at 06:44 PM
So with the SW wind in the forecast for Saturday will we be able to make continuous runs to the south end of Jekyll? It looks like we can, but I'd
love to get some local input before I drive the 3 hours to Jekyll tomorrow. It's a long drive to get skunked.
FYI, no one form Gainesville can play tomorrow. I'm driving solo if I'm driving at all.
PhilipPHREERIDER - 3-2-2012 at 08:20 PM
I am seeing ESE side on ..acampbell - 3-2-2012 at 09:30 PM
winds were NE 10-20 today with KiteDog/ Greg and local rider Robb VanWie. Them on the water and me in the bug. I had to work hard to get up the
beach but the downwinders were awesome. Spent a lot of time with the Buster Soulfly 3.3m and was really impressed. It's speed allowed great upwind
work and VERY deep downwind reaches without dropping the kite. - just kept it zinging around to keep the lines tight and was going near dead downwind
faster than the windspeed itself.
Saturday looks to be East, more on-shore and very awesome, but i can only do morning till about noon,PHREERIDER - 4-2-2012 at 05:29 AM
the day has not stacked up so well to travel here, looks like i'm not gonna make it. too many little glitches already that would put me down at JI
too late.
have a good time wind should be decentkitedog - 4-2-2012 at 11:23 AM
Friday was good at Jekyll. First good North Easter of the year! 8 mtr Pulse 2 was adequately powered in the water. A 10 would have been better.
Angus buggied and Robb was on his 10 inflato well lit in the water. Nice day! More to come soon! Hope you guys have fun Saturday.
wish i could made the trip, i did not do may chores on friday because i road all afternoon on the water. and HAD to do them before wife and kid got
back SAT.
