Charger owners using Navi bars.

Feyd - 29-1-2012 at 07:03 AM

Just wondering how many Charger owners here are flying with the Navigator bar.

Ive flown 3 different LEIs on my Navi bar......................two with c kite short throws the other with a longer throw.............the adjutable stopper ball makes this possible...................good feel thru the bar and lines to the kite..........impressed! Or should I have not answered because this is a twinskin thread?:duh:

Yes.
Why?

I'm just curious about something. I'm really looking for Charger riders on Navi bar tridude but it's interesting to know that you like the Navi bar as a stand alone.

markite - 30-1-2012 at 06:21 AM

myself and three other local riders - what do you want to know from us? It has it's pros and cons.

flyjump - 30-1-2012 at 06:22 AM

Mark, do you have access to the PL dealer kit for 2012?

markite - 30-1-2012 at 08:33 AM

yes I do, hmm let me have a peak at it again ....

just back from a weekend kiting event and had a great day yesterday - perfect conditions but grabbing the adjustment line on the nav bar was driving me crazy more so than any other time I remember - probably because I needed to adjust it on the fly more often as I skirted around a turbulent zone downwind of an island (normally set it and leave it until landing).

I'll be getting Nav bars for the Phantom IIs.

I use my Medium Nav bar on my 15 Charger on largest option and on my 10m Syn on the inside. I still use my large 07 on my 18 Phanny and 15 Syn.

Also use the Nav' on my 460 and it is a good match.

Are you looking for Pos / Neg things about why we use one ?

For me : #1 positive is the adjustable stopper. #1 negetive is the Y. It makes it impossible to fix an invert at the bar + the lines have a tendency to get caught in the Y connection.

Feyd - 30-1-2012 at 08:04 PM

I'm not so much lookng for the pros and cons. I like my Navis and have removed what I consider the cons.

I just have a theory about Charger owners and I want to see if it's plausible.

flyjump - 30-1-2012 at 08:21 PM

Youve got my attention mr krug

geokite - 30-1-2012 at 09:29 PM

The Y connection kills it for me. The ability to pull a specific top line of the kite when recovering from the water/dry lake bed is an advantage of the old style bar.

BeamerBob - 30-1-2012 at 09:32 PM

I consider the y line a con as well and will look into building a a Nav from scratch and putting lighter equal length lines on it.

Feyd - 31-1-2012 at 02:31 PM

I dumped the Y after my third or forth time out with it. I've been riding my modded Navi bars for 3 seasons and love 'em.

I am not clear on what you hope to figure out here ?
Are you wondering how many folks are flying Chargers on some other kind of bar?

I stick with stock because I don't trust my own judgement enough to tinker?
