PhantomII demo roadtrip! (update please read!!!)

flyjump - 28-2-2012 at 05:38 AM

We just heard from Peter Lynn today and its not looking good. They are working hard with the factory to get the phantoms finished on time. Unfortunatly they will not make it to the US on time for the demo trip. Sorry dudes I am dissapointed and i'm sorry if you are dissapointed as well. They are trying to throw their weight around with the factory to get them out in time. There may be a 5% chance that they will make it but i'm not getting my hopes up.

The LEI kites should still show up in time on friday or saturday. So If you are coming out to try the tubes you should still get that chance. I just wanted to post if you are planning on spending time and money to get to jekyll to try the phantoms. We are still working hard to get as much as possible. You are still welcome to come and ride if you just wanted to get out in the wind. I hope to see you all there, and I'm very sorry about the phantoms, but the factory is in china and not in holland so it's difficult.

It's finally that time. How many of you would like to demo the new phantoms lei's and fixed bridle kites?

Friday and Saturday March 23, 24th. Flyguy0101 and I will be on Jekyll Island with peter lynn demo kites. It'll be a fun couple of days on a beach after those crappy winter months.

We are meeting up with Coastalwindsports (Angus) and are wanting you guys to help us build some hype on the new peter lynn products. Come out, bring your buggy, bring your landboard, and be ready to ride the waves. We should have a range of kites with us for you to test out.

We will have kites ranging from reactorIIs, escape, fury, twisterIIR, and of course the new phantoms!

Scott and I will of course keep you guys updated on exactly the model of kites and sizes they will be sending us as soon as we get them in.

We will also be offering a demonstration on how to tune up your twinskin kites as well as a few lessons and riding tips! Come out and ride with us.

Also Sunday March 25th we plan on being at Sullivan's island for those of you that are closer.

Are you as stoked as we are? Be the first to test the new kites!

I hope to see you all on Jekyll, or Sullivan's Island! Adam.

PHREERIDER - 28-2-2012 at 05:51 AM

Very NICE ! see you there.

flyjump - 28-2-2012 at 07:14 AM

tridude - 28-2-2012 at 09:37 AM

nfleech and I will be there...........what are the tides? can we take pics and or vids?:smilegrin::smilegrin:

Drewculous - 28-2-2012 at 09:44 AM

Go back for jibe!!!

flyguy0101 - 28-2-2012 at 09:46 AM

tri,
Absouletly can take pics and vid- looking forward to seeing you guys. I am really interested in getting some feedback from you guys regarding the LEIs as well. Dont remember the tide schedule exactly, but i think low tide on friday somewhere around 2-2:30 and add 45 minutes for Saturday. Question for you- we are hoping to ride sullivan island on Sunday can you tell me where to look for tide as well will we be able to ride landboars or is sulys really better for water? Maybe i will need to borrow your door and try out a fury myself- if i do that what type of suit- assuming bareback is not an option and can always bring my drysuit.
Scott

PHREERIDER - 28-2-2012 at 10:02 AM

FLYguy , i have extra XL 3/2and or spring 3m xl if you like.

looks like tides should be around 3pm for low which great .

no doubt cameras will be on.

hopefully a 13m/ 11m lei which would be perfect

flyjump - 28-2-2012 at 10:11 AM

Bringing 9 and 13 escape and furys. Just heard from the office, its gonna be a close call with the phantoms, so cross your fingers!

PHREERIDER - 28-2-2012 at 10:21 AM

lad - 28-2-2012 at 11:01 AM

Saved the date!!!

martinipro - 28-2-2012 at 11:03 AM

This sounds like so much fun! Dunno if I can make it that far south!

I have a plan in mind! Adam, I am out of the country until next week but expect a call next weekend!

flyjump - 28-2-2012 at 11:10 AM

No prob martin! I hope to see both you and lad down there!

tridude - 28-2-2012 at 11:17 AM

nice......the sandbar is wider than the beach at Jekyll so land boad. buggy, or water............the ultimate surf and turf spot........................tides at low mid afternoon.............perfect and I can guarantee 15 to 20 kts side on......................the door 140, or surf board are at your disposal..............the door will have you up and riding no problem..............I had forum member POWER up and riding in 45 minutes on the door...........he had no rpblem staying upwind and was the only one out until the wind picked up..............

http://gofishingforum.net/tide.pl?month=3&day=25&yea...

flyguy0101 - 28-2-2012 at 11:19 AM

Phree,
Might take you up on that offer- i have been wanting to get on the water and this may be the time unless i am having to much fun on land- depends how much frustration i want to deal with:yes:
Scott

PHREERIDER - 28-2-2012 at 12:06 PM

planning 2 days of it ...plenty water gear...float, drag, ride just need 15 -20 and up and screaming. ... something like that.

i have wake board coats for safety so no worries

rocfighter - 28-2-2012 at 04:12 PM

Are you guys bringing this road trip to Wildwood as well? You would be HEROS if you did!:singing::smilegrin:

flyjump - 28-2-2012 at 04:20 PM

Well we most likely won't be up there during that week unless the planets align perfectly and we get perfect on shore wind. Unfortunatly the low tide is too short of time compared to the tides down at jekyll :dunno: But i guess nothing is impossible

I won't be able to make the demo weekend but I'll be there in spirit

flyguy0101 - 4-3-2012 at 06:11 PM

Thought I would bump this with a little note about my "warm up" session today. Had a chance to ride in the va Mtn gusts. Wind started in the low 20s with gust to the mid 30s then started mellowing to the teens with gusts to mid 20s. Was able to get a couple of little jumps 5-6 ft and several big static jumps. Nothing beats the chelaxed feeling after a couple hrs of tight lines. Can't wait for the hard pack smooth sand and clean wind.
Scott

PHREERIDER - 4-3-2012 at 06:16 PM

nice

Kober - 4-3-2012 at 07:24 PM

pbc - 4-3-2012 at 07:31 PM

I'm busy on the 24th but I have blocked Friday the 23rd. Please let there be an on-shore wind. Please baby, please baby, baby, baby, PLEASE.

Anyone want to split a hotel room Thursday night? Send me a U2U.

Philip

martinipro - 4-3-2012 at 07:33 PM

Kober... I really want to go as well.
I'll give you a call this weekend maybe we can figure something out!

Also, we need a sandy hook session soon! Maybe this weekend...

PBandJ - 4-3-2012 at 08:41 PM

I will attempt to make the trip to Sullivan's Island. I am about to get a PL Hornet II 6m this week! I still don't have a landboard though, but I am in the market. I am pretty new to kiting, but I am getting there!
I look forward to meeting some of the SC crew. I get to Charleston on a semi-regular basis. Watching a guy landboarding last month on Holley Beach was the tipping point for me to start getting into larger kites.

James

flyjump - 4-3-2012 at 08:43 PM

come and join us pbandJ!

flyguy0101 - 5-3-2012 at 07:06 AM

Phil and any others looking for hotel
for what its worth- I have stayed at the ramada in brunswick last July and it is where Adam and i are staying- rooms run around $50 and they were clean and decent- right off of 95 and maybe 15 minutes to the island. Cant wait to be there
Scott

BeamerBob - 5-3-2012 at 08:57 AM

Also I stayed at the Microtel out by the interstate and it was cheap, clean and it was new at the time.

acampbell - 5-3-2012 at 04:17 PM

This is looking to be great. I have my pre-orders for Phanny II's in and I don't know about delivery but these guys will deliver for sure.

Jekyll Island is looking great. The convention center is complete ahead of time and under budget. I mention this just because there are no more traffic detours so it is easy to get to the beach.

I am also summoning all local riders.

For further hotel info, look at the JIBE site...

Gotta love the Bermuda High, setting up shop right on time and sitting off the Carolinas, churning clockwise. Then in a few weeks, add a dash of Sea Breeze effect in the afternoons...

Winds East 20 kts today; may have to test the theory...

PHREERIDER - 6-3-2012 at 07:41 AM

i'm getting a room at the hampton inn , my treat, just have swop the king for 2queens.

great news, you posted it before i could say anything

good work Team Rider

have fun with the new toys

lad - 12-3-2012 at 10:16 AM

If any Mid-Atlantic PKFers are heading down? If you wanna split gas/room lemme know.

I'm bringing myself, BF Buggy, M board, Phanny quiver (and maybe a FB or 2)
Can barely fit all in my own sedan...it'd help if you have a roomier vehicle.

(Maybe I'd forego some of the kites according to wind forecasts...and maybe even the buggy - if people wanna share down there. Anyone can borrow my gear when I'm not using them).

GoalieMan - 12-3-2012 at 03:00 PM

Tell me how the kites are flying. I would like to hear how the wind is in other than Ct. Also looking for some new kites.
:)

flyjump - 12-3-2012 at 04:10 PM

Kober and Martinpro were both wanting to come down from new jersey, maybe you can get one of them to come with you

zero gee - 12-3-2012 at 08:16 PM

Anyone going to be on Hatteras with a demo set of PL Phantoms and /or LEI's last 2 weeks of April? Unfortunately, we will be car pooling and the only driving we will be doing is on the island. Would love to give them a try while I'm there.

flyjump - 12-3-2012 at 08:26 PM

Zero Gee, I wish that was the case. This is a last minute trip that got turned into a demo trip

tridude - 12-3-2012 at 09:58 PM

H20 Phantom II loops on the way.............................Chris has taken care of this on fresh water so somebodys gotta do it....................:duh:

The new phantoms would be a bonus, but I'm coming for the good company. I don't get nearly enough opportunities to fly with my peeps.

I'm coming!

Philip

flyjump - 15-3-2012 at 06:50 PM

phil its gonna be great to ride with you again. i just wish it wouldve worked out better.

lad - 15-3-2012 at 07:10 PM

You should persuade Feyd to come on down and bring his PIIs - since all the ice up there is melting anyway!

BeamerBob - 15-3-2012 at 07:13 PM

Or ship the 15 down for demos.:bigok:

pbc - 15-3-2012 at 07:18 PM

It's gonna work out great!. We be flyin'!

flyjump - 15-3-2012 at 07:21 PM

they told me that my personal phantomII may show up, but it won't have a bag or the extra stuff. but i still don't want to get my hopes up on that either

lad - 15-3-2012 at 07:29 PM

I'd still like to come down, if my budget allows by next week...but new Phannys would def. be a deciding factor!

markite - 15-3-2012 at 07:33 PM

The gang at VO is definitely under the gun and pushing to get things in order for demos and NABX and dealer orders and.... fingers crossed. At this point I still expect to see the Phantom emerging from the dust devils to surprise us at NABX.

flyjump - 15-3-2012 at 07:43 PM

lad, i know that's why we wanted to tell you about it before hand. i didn't want you to spend a bunch of money and come down and be dissapointed.

Mark, you are definatly right about them being under the gun. it sounds like its a madhouse in the head office these last two weeks

acampbell - 15-3-2012 at 08:41 PM

Hey guys I can understand how these things can go south. But speaking of gong south, conditions are looking great at Jekyll Island lately. Bermuda High is setting up on the Carolinas as predicted and the afternoon sea-breezes are bringing on-shore breezes. The Jekyll Island convention Center is complete which means the traffic detours are gone and everything is easy and really beautiful.

The Jekyll Island Authority has authorized full buggy access to the southern water tower. We all knew that we could no longer go to Plover-Land down by the shipwreck but we all agreed that that part was not a big deal- we still have the best part of the beach to ride wide open.

And sure, I'll try one of those tubie pump up thingys with the buggy. But i I'll still have my original Phannys in the back pocket.

I am on the beach all Friday and Saturday.

STOKE!!!

Scott
Will post some video next week.

bobalooie57 - 24-3-2012 at 07:49 AM

Sounds like great fun was had! Pic's/vid will be greatly appreciated!

PHREERIDER - 26-3-2012 at 07:04 AM

had a great time at JI, wind was 10-15 on to side on form the south.

great to see everyone ANGUS, DON, SCOTT, ADAM, JOHNNY, ROB AND PETER.

had nice breeze right out of the gate , by SCOTT and ADAM, Wednesday had nice peak.

Phantom II(X would be accurate as well) rocked! got that unit tune nicely by mid afternoon friday. TIPS ALL THE way in and 1/2 on the center. unit really shined on those settings in the light air, very pleased . the new navi with this unit is solid premium hardware. very nice package!

pumped the new tubes 11m fury and escape. for light air took a lap on the water. though it was light and a fraction small for me it did well. DON got few laps out the fury on his door and made easy upwind action on 11m fury. adam got some smokin' hot runs shots of some fury action full bore on the haize. i did get time on all with the ATB. Phantom got the bulk of the run time with the addictive arc feel right there to feed the need!. ...the whole crew got time on it, lotta flying with by everyone, kinda all ride no talk moment all day!

grateful for the fresh gear! big thanks to those making it happen, phantom shook out real nice , tubes really can't do them justice on the breeze we had but all good so far.

got some vids so it'll be a few days. stoked !
