Do you fly fixed or depower bar? Only one answer please.Drewculous - 10-5-2012 at 05:00 PM
sorry... i fly both
depower in bug and atb (soon to be surf too)
Fixed for static jumping, a little buggy, and a little atb.....
i does it all man :Dmougl - 10-5-2012 at 05:24 PM
In the buggy I am primarily FB but I do like the occasional depower session.Kamikuza - 10-5-2012 at 05:28 PM

Depower for everything. I want to learn FB just because I think it would help teach good kite position in the window to control power. To easy to push
the bar away to scrub of some power rather than say fly the kite a little higher in the sky.MikeDobbs - 10-5-2012 at 05:38 PM
On the water it's depower (is there a choice?) but on land I fly both. If winds are high I'm more comfortable (paradoxically) with a fixed bridle
kite that I can always drop the handles. If the wind is nice and steady and not too high I love depower rides in the buggy.
Best thing about flying on handles? Looks awesome in the GoPro- reminds me of dual-wielding pistols in Call of Duty :bigok:WELDNGOD - 10-5-2012 at 06:38 PM

Both....Depower on water and FB's on land.stetson05 - 10-5-2012 at 07:31 PM
Depower. unless it is really high wind then a 2m fbpbc - 10-5-2012 at 08:51 PM
Just depower, but I'll fly anything anyone hands to me. I'm a ho.BeamerBob - 10-5-2012 at 09:24 PM
I frequently use both on the same day. I have an idea of what I want to spend time on before I head out but am flexible enough to switch if wind
conditions warrant it. I like the direct power feel and ultimate performance of a fb kite on handles well matched to the wind, but also like the
added wind range of a high performance depower. We had maxed out the limits on the Montana VIs but the new M VIIs have longer legs and we are still
exploring them. Phantom IIs are in the house but the 9m is backordered. Hope it makes it before the season is cooked here. Maybe 3-4 more weeks and
it's too hot for 3 months. HQ Prodigy and PL Vapors are the tools when the handles come out.carltb - 11-5-2012 at 01:58 AM

depower, all day, every day...
(if only I could fly that often...) flyguy0101 - 11-5-2012 at 05:29 AM
depower-so much safer in my opinion- but will fly fixed bridle on occassionsnowspider - 11-5-2012 at 05:45 AM
both
depower = pedal car
fb = gokartB-Roc - 11-5-2012 at 05:53 AM
Depower all the way. I feel so much more confident, safe and comfortable on DPs as opposed to FBs. I will static fly my FBs for kicks and giggles
and I formerly flew them in the lowest winds but I just bought a 14m depower so even my begos will likely now be retired. Depower is the way forward.
Once you get used to it there is no turning back.
I kite ski and kite landboard. I can see full-on buggy riders not wanting to migrate to DP but for me they are the only kites that make sense for the
type of riding I want to do.bobalooie57 - 11-5-2012 at 06:00 AM
Looked for the poll, to vote, but...? Anyway, it seems I only pull out my de-powers when I have lots of room, I'm so afraid of putting one of them in
a tree! I just don't have enough time on them to feel really confident about the control, with the bar being kind of 'slow', compared to handles,
IMHO. Then, there is my tendency to choke the stuffing out of the kite by pulling on the bar too much! Need more room/practice! My NPW's, however,
I'll fly them just about anywhere, and will drive them as hard as I am able. I do like the QR/chicken loops on my de-powers for when I'm being
dragged on my face while snowkiting! :bird:furbowski - 11-5-2012 at 07:05 AM
FB's.... Static jumping and landboard... My arcs were only bought because the d'arc side came calling! I'll figure them out someday but now flying
within minutes of getting to my spot is where it's at.canuck - 11-5-2012 at 09:43 PM
Mainly FB's since I get more short (<2hr) sessions in and they are easier to launch and pack up than my arcs ... but then again I do pull out my
Access almost as often as an FB when snowkiting due to the gusty conditions around here.AD72 - 11-5-2012 at 11:43 PM

Flying static with FB's for now, but if I ever get on the water or get a large foil for static jumping I'll definitely go depower.alasdair macleod - 12-5-2012 at 05:58 AM
FB but am think of buying depower kite later in year!shehatesmyhobbies - 12-5-2012 at 07:00 AM
Depower!
When I fly with the kids, I will pull out a FB and make it dance!AnnieO - 12-5-2012 at 08:54 AM
FB only now. Given how quickly the whole kiting thing has "taken off" for me I'll likely be looking for a depower in the not too distant future.lucky_13 - 12-5-2012 at 09:28 AM
fb's all the way... after reading all the post im thinking i need to try depower.. i do have a harness which I have yet to try ... lol something
about being able to let go with an obe has keep me from trying....djinnzfree - 12-5-2012 at 12:56 PM

On Water = Depower LeadingEdgeInflatable
(Want to try large Flysurfer in lightwinds shallow water sometime)
On Landboard = Fixed Bridal on Hard Surfaces, otherwise Depower Foil
In Buggy = Fixed Bridal on Hard Surfaces or Small Areas, otherwise Depower Foil
On Snow = Depower FoilBeaudryjoel - 13-5-2012 at 06:36 AM

De-power passes the crucial test: " can you do it with a beer in one hand?". Always de-power for long reaches down the beach. FB for very light
winds or for training/ demos.Feyd - 14-5-2012 at 03:24 AM

Depower but considering FB for the following:
1) faster set up
2) easier ground handling; just stake out the brake lines to take a rest
3) stealthier flying; my ARCs are big, attract unwanted attention in fields where noone said I can't fly but I never really asked, and they scare my

Well, the crowd has spoken!! And I am surprised at how many "Land Riders" have gone Depower. I thought this crew would still be hardcore Fixed Bridle
[Yes, WELDNGOD I see you waving over there!!] Times have changed I guess.
I sadly admit I too am going over to Depower. JUST ON WATER though! Yeah, I say that now. tried my C kites the other day and could see the safety
factor was not there. So now it is time to "go to the dark side" [WELDINGOD: "Don't go into the light! Nnoooo!!"]
But you will have to pry my cold dead hands open to take my Bullet away from me!!
