For sale Phantom 18M kite only with bag. $240 + shipping from 95618. Super stable kite. Two repairs with tear aid tape.BeamerBob - 15-5-2012 at 06:32 PM
Wow I sold one of these and would consider buying this one just to have for such a great price. My toy budget is contributing to the national trade
deficit for the next few months however. Good luck on the sale AD. Shouldn't last too long at that price.g00fba11 - 15-5-2012 at 06:42 PM
Almost worth getting into trouble with the wife at that price......AD72 - 15-5-2012 at 06:48 PM

The Phantom is on the far left. Big kite. Gentle giant.

Sorry if I end up hijacking this post (at least it will keep it up high on the list), but I have a question about the Phantoms. You mention above
that this kite is big, a gentle giant. I just got my own Phantom 15m and the thing that shocked me was how gentle the kite felt. I've never been
happier connected to a big kite in my life.
As far as I know this is the highest aspect arc ever made (by a good bit), and I've always thought high aspect meant high performance and in turn, a
less forgiving kite. Does this equation just not hold wit arcs? Why is this kite so friendly and well behaved?lad - 16-5-2012 at 06:31 AM
Mike,
Have to agree with you on the comfort of the Phannys.
Actually, the earlier F-Arcs had a slightly higher AR - and those things are anything but "gentle" (just see hardwaterkiters posts on them).
Both are unbridled, relatively soft, and "give" with gusts. So it all must come down to aero-design subtleties.
And now back to our regularly scheduled programming...
The 18m Phanny is GREAT - esp. at THAT price!!!!martinipro - 16-5-2012 at 06:53 AM
I think lad is spot on in the "unbridled" comment.
The unbridled system in arcs does not restrict the canopy shape thus allowing it to change depending on wind conditions.
Also affecting how it turns/behaves since it has no other connection points to the canopy.(Making it the gentle giant it is)
BUMP for a great kite!Bigbear97e - 16-5-2012 at 12:47 PM
not explicitly stated and hate to assume .... are spars included?AD72 - 16-5-2012 at 01:09 PM
Yes 3-piece carbon spars included. The bungee is not connected so I have been taping the joints.g00fba11 - 16-5-2012 at 01:57 PM
Bigbear...you should buy this one.....then you can keep your crispy one crispy.....buy it!!!(jedi hand wave @ Bigbear)Soma - 16-5-2012 at 03:24 PM
That would be well as the next left picture to my sig. :D
Let me check with Flyfish if he is coming to Portugal and is willing to bring it with him.
After the last adventure with Portuguese Customs, that is the only way to buy from you US folks,
Either way, PM sentTodd - 16-5-2012 at 05:40 PM
My go to kite that I used to twist up like a noodle. Very reliable and stable kite, stellar seller as well.Feyd - 16-5-2012 at 06:43 PM
Phantom is a 6.5 AR. F-Arc 1200 was also 6.5. F-Arc 1800 is 7.0 AR.
That said the 1200 F-arc is a lot more agressive than a 12m Phantom.ejmichel - 16-5-2012 at 07:28 PM
Could I fly on a slingshot ranger bar and lines? No experience with arcs just ozones and my ranger.... I fly in some pretty low winds in Illinois so
this might work well for me.... Thanks.Feyd - 17-5-2012 at 04:43 AM
Hells yeah! In fact it would be awesome with a Ranger bar and a stopper. Especially if it's the longer Ranger bar but the short bar would work too.
You may have to make some adjustments to the pigtails but maybe not. You won't know until you try it.
That bar has wicked throw and the Phantom 1 is a park and ride dream so she'll really benefit from being able to sheet in the power you want and lock
it in with the stopper.
What size Ranger do you have? If it's the 12m and you didn't get it from Backcountry.com at the end of thier blowout sale it likely has the long bar.
The key with getting an Arc off the ground is preinflation. Especially with a High Ar Arc like the Phantom 1.ejmichel - 17-5-2012 at 11:56 AM
AD- I will send u a u2u. I have a 12m ranger with the big bar so I think I will give it a go.... I am getting way too many Kites.....AD72 - 17-5-2012 at 07:17 PM

Ej do you own a trailer to haul all your gear in yet? If not your far from to many kites!!:wee: My wife baught me a trailer so I would have a back
seat and truck bed again!!Bladerunner - 18-5-2012 at 06:42 AM
I had to go out and buy a shed to store all my gear. It got to the point I couldn't find another closet ceiling or bed to stuff things .
I thought I was done at 20 kites but picked up an indoor Rev' and am Jonesing at some of the deals lately.
Without a doubt the 18m Phanny is moving into #1 . Both for rotation and enjoyment. Perfect for our typical 5 - 10 kt winds !ejmichel - 18-5-2012 at 07:09 AM
Thanks everyone for enabling my addiction. I was too late on this one but now that I know I can use my ranger bar I will be on the look out for a big
arc.Bigbear97e - 18-5-2012 at 09:57 PM
