Been meaning to make a vid demoing and talking about the Turbo Bar. Finally got to it yesterday. I use it mainly in the buggy, but I'm flying it static here so I can point things out and generally yabber on far too much!! Hope you find this useful.

Thanks John, that was a great video, very helpful as always :)

Is there any way of telling accurately before-hand if kites will work well on the bar ? I guess you could just try steering with more breaks ?

Accurately? No, not that I can think of. You can speak to people who fly the kite you're interested in to get a feel for how it flies but the trouble is, we all prefer different things. What I like in my kites may well be completely different to what the next person likes. I tend to hit youtube and try to find as many videos on a kite that I can. Sometimes you can get a demo. Sometimes you can try a mate's kite. I've sold a couple of kites that didn't turn out to be what I wanted.

As an example of youtube, I've never flown an HQ Crossfire on the turbo bar, but there's a video of a 5m being flown on the TB and it looks nice and solid in the turns - going on the video, it looks like a good match.

While you can adjust the brake tension on the turbo bar, it doesn't really alter the steering ratio between power lines and brake lines - you're more or less stuck with it.

If you could alter the steering ratio between power & brake lines, you'd have the perfect bar that you could match to any kite. When they build it, I'll have two!!

(Geez, i really cant spell, lol! I meant brakes.)

Okay, cheers John. My favourite kite to fly is my samurai II, i would like to think that the two bits of kit are compatible, both being Ozone FB equipment, but im not sure. Someone i know who i buggy with every so often uses a turbo bar, so i may have to nick his when he's not using it (flys depowers a lot)

I have found that,if a kite flies well by brakes without to much stalling or luffing, then it will fly w/ a Turbo bar.

Ditto. I am also under the impression that some manufacturers may bias their kites one way or the other....ie: any Peter Lynn stuff that I've flown seems to prefer front line input over rear - but that's only based on flying the Hornet/Reactor/Core - so while it's a hunch, it may not be correct.

I would have thought most Ozone stuff would be a safe bet, although I have a 9m Riot which, while it does fly ok on the TB, it feels a bit clunky & jerky and I prefer it on handles.

To give you an idea of what happens when the bar gives too much brake input for the kite, watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0mNxl9KZicM At the start, I've got a 2m Beamer on a depower bar.....far too much brake input for the beamer...in fact, no front line input at all. You can see when I turn it how the air gets squashed out of one side of the kite resulting in a stall and occasional spin.
