Brief history:
1st kite circa 1998 prism illusion
1999 Prism Prophecy and Revoulution
2012 finally upgraded to prism Quantum pro..............
Then while trying to teach teenager how to fly kites and worried about them crashing and damaging my toys I got a Prism snapshot 1.9 so there was no
frame to damage and give them a better understanding of controls and the window. Well I had so much fun with it I wanted more my trust in Prism and
not realizing there were other reputable kite mfgrs I purchased a Tensor 5.0. Tons of fun but I'm wanting something with more predictable lift and
gentler landings. 6'00 210lbs looking to stay static don't see wheels strapped to my feet anytime soon. Been looking toward PL Twister but not sure
what would be best. I live near of Lake.Erie and lake Ontario but mostly inland flying. Also not a mecca of kite enthusiasts that I'm aware of so
chance to try someone elses setup is nearly impossible. Winds around 10-15mph but again always good and bad days! Any thoughts would be great and
if there's someone you know in my neck of the woods would be great to meet up!BigMikesKites - 24-10-2012 at 07:32 PM
Twister 5.6 is a great kite. Without getting into DePower Kites, probably the better for what you are trying to do.abkayak - 24-10-2012 at 07:38 PM
nothing is best..its what you like the most...to me the fb's are way more fun static.and get scary in the big sizes (less margin for error).... the
depower kites will give you that up and down ride i think your after, but just not as much fun standing...if i were you i would buy a bunch of both in
a bunch of sizes fly them all....you might want to start selling some of your other stuff toohiaguy - 24-10-2012 at 07:56 PM
It sounds like you're near "markite". He may be able to suggest something that's suitable for your neck of the woods.markite - 24-10-2012 at 08:05 PM
I was wondering about that too Howard but looking at the screen name (...WNY) he might be on the south side of the ponds.
There are people on here from upstate NY as well if you are on the the north side of the border there are a lot of kiters here too.
Where do you live?hiaguy - 24-10-2012 at 08:10 PM

BTW- you heading down here? Or gonna enjoy Wasaga?
Sorry for the hijack.lives2fly - 25-10-2012 at 02:34 AM
Twister gets my Vote. Its my favourite of the fixed bridles I have tried.
You might even want to think about the 7.7m one since you are quite a big guy and your winds are reasonably light.flyhighWNY - 25-10-2012 at 07:03 AM
Mark yes I'm right across the pond a matter of fact I can see toronto we while flying most times. Lewiston, NY for the record. I do see that theres
quite a group your way?bobalooie57 - 25-10-2012 at 07:13 AM
So do you know stillflyin'(Rick)? I fly regularly at Southwick Beach, on Lake Ontario, it's probably a haul for you, but can be a sweet spot when the
wind is good. If you ski or snowboard, there's an option for the upcoming winter.(if we get some snow this winter)flyhighWNY - 25-10-2012 at 03:23 PM
Southwick would be a haul for me. But when weather is good I could see spending a weekend camping out there. Don't know rick! Good winds today off
the river had myself some fun!flyhighWNY - 25-10-2012 at 05:42 PM
And Wasaga brings back some blurry memories of a May 24 weekend back in the Early 90's!!Vince H. - 26-10-2012 at 07:28 AM
FYI: There is a very active club in the Buffalo area, Great Lakes Kitefliers Society (www.flyglks.com). They hold their club flies at Gratwick Waterfront Park first Saturday and third Sunday every month, all year.
Touch base with Ted Shaw, dancer at kitestrings.net, and he may be able to connect you with someone there or from Niagara Windriders just across the
border.
Either way, check out this park in N. Tonawanda. Wind is great coming in off the Niagara River and I don't think it gets much use when there is snow
on the ground.flyhighWNY - 27-10-2012 at 05:55 AM
Ty for that info.Vince H. I'll be sure to check them out! That is the park I go to occasionally so I guess I'm surprised I haven't run into anyone
as of yet. Its a pretty seet spot to fly so I'll email.Ted and try to catch up with their club. Thanks again.
