East Coaster's- BIG winds coming!!

beachrights - 25-10-2012 at 05:01 AM

Due to Hurricane Sandy- Wind forecast for Sunday through Wednesday shows CONSTANT winds of a min. of 35 knots with gusts to 50 knots Tuesday morning.

I already feel a "cold" coming on for Tuesday!
Good time to tryout my new Viper 6.8?! LOL!

Anyone ever Buggy with a 1.8m Beamer? This might be the day!

Chad - 25-10-2012 at 05:24 AM

Did that all day last Fall WBB. The wind was side shore and I buggied from the water back to the dunes (that was in my ivanpah). So much fun! As the winds died down later in the day I had to upgrade to my 2M beamer now thats power!!!! lol

bobalooie57 - 25-10-2012 at 05:30 AM

Here's one with a 1.4M Beamer III in blasting winds at Southwick Beach, from back a few years. Kind of poor quality video, but I still got buggying in that wind!

Here's one from last Sunday, with the HQ Rush IV 300 Pro, in wind gusting to 35mph.

Chad - 25-10-2012 at 06:36 AM

O' and don't even go there RICH with that time at Dewey! ... :singing::moon: My stomach hurts just thinking about it.

WELDNGOD - 25-10-2012 at 05:39 PM

I have used a 1.7 sting in high winds. I have a 2.4 combat and the little busters that I fly with now. Gotta watch those little ones though they can be like lightnin'..

soliver - 26-10-2012 at 03:13 AM

We even have bigger winds forecasted here in Atlanta for Saturday... Not near as big as the coast,... But still fun for me... 14 - 18 kts means an awesome day at the park Sat. with the 2.6m viper :singing:

Sunday's even bigger wind.

Mostly Harmless - 26-10-2012 at 03:52 AM

Looks like Sunday is going to be the only day for me to ride. I can handle my 8m in 30-35mph winds but after that it gets to be too much. Really need to invest in a 6m.

acampbell - 26-10-2012 at 09:26 AM

Be careful! They are talking about Hurricane Sandy meeting up with that low pressure arctic system and are already calling it "Frankenstorm" - They say it looks to reminiscent of the "Perfect Storm" of '91...

bigkid - 26-10-2012 at 12:08 PM

Man O Man, I have something to deal with in NY next week and was about to pull off the scam of the year with my wife and leave 5 days early and go to WW before NY.
Now I have to put it off because of Sandy the Storm. My wife said no trip until after the storm.
Like going to a great movie, popcorn, drink, Nestle Crunch Dips, Box of soft red licorice, and a front row seat, and I fall asleep half way through and wake up to see the credits. GRRRR. Will just have to wait till spring. But the Nestle Crunch Dips and licorice sounds good for lunch.

Enjoy guys. Better to be safe than famous for the last breath.

Drewculous - 29-10-2012 at 08:07 AM

be safe everyone!

looks like it'll be a nasty storm!

...might hafta add some names to the SCKC and the 1920 Club

Kober - 29-10-2012 at 11:03 AM

WELDNGOD - 29-10-2012 at 02:39 PM

My newest vid post,from pre-sandy winds,w/ a small kite. http://www.powerkiteforum.com/viewthread.php?tid=23888&p...

shehatesmyhobbies - 29-10-2012 at 04:02 PM

The eye of the storm is about 12 miles from our house now and going to literally pass right over us. The winds have been howling for hours on end now. The rain has been pounding all day. Luckily the storm is usually the weakest at the eye, but it ain't no picnic here now!

Be safe my friends!

shehatesmyhobbies - 29-10-2012 at 04:03 PM

Latest update, sustained winds of 85 mph are now hitting the beaches all around us.

big_d - 29-10-2012 at 04:07 PM

Feyd - 29-10-2012 at 04:22 PM

That's in km/h - about 40 mph. Since then it's picked up; rain's going sideways and tree limbs are blowing down my street.

Here are some news pics of the front moving in to the Jersey coast on the weekend. Buggydanny is in pic #4:

soliver - 29-10-2012 at 08:27 PM

Here's some perspective on the size of Sandy (deemed one of the biggest storms to hit the east coast ... Ever)... To the best of my knowledge the storm hit the shore near NYC, (haven't seen the news) I am camping on Jekyll Island which is roughly 14 to 16 hrs south of there,... And we were getting 14 to 20 mph winds off shore from Sandy on the beach today,... Man, she be a big girl. :wow:

big_d - 29-10-2012 at 08:55 PM

gusts are up to 76 k now just outside my house, about 50 mph I could only imagine what its down on the east coast,

tridude - 29-10-2012 at 09:16 PM
