With a familiar bearing mounted and the way it's in there. Not so common or typical for bicycles? I'm sure it's 10mm(3/8") though. The other common
size is 14mm(9/16").
I wonder if this wheel would catastrophically fail though under typical buggy side loads? Or maybe it could handle them?

Bike wheels just don't have to design for side loads. Those look cool but much side load and they are going to fail badly. Just cruising would be ok
but you start torquing those webbed spokes sideways and limits will be found.

You'd probably be better off going higher end.
He's hasn't been around in quite a while, but Darren (c3h5) used motorcyle wheels.

Coolbreeze also did this.
Once he had made the adaptors it opened up all sorts of options from ATV to motorcycle. He go this wheels + a cool fender at our local bent bike
motorcycle parts shop.
